  1. @@nprcowboy God bless y'all! I can't even imagine what it would feel like to lose 9 months of treatment. But your doing the right thing! Always get a second or third opinion! Stage 4 doesn't always mean the worst, it just means a hard fight. Science these days work wonders and I will keep you and your wife in my prayers and thoughts!
  2. Well my policy states exactly as is.... They do not pay for diet clinics or weight loss clinics. But if you are morbidly obese, they will pay for medically necessary procedures. Their is no mention of bariatric surgery, unfortunately so right now it's a waiting game.
  3. @@India928 on your policy did they clearly say that allowed bariatric surgery or that treatment for the morbidly obese was allowed if deemed medically necessary. Today the office manager submitted my papers and my gwh rep was giving the run around. So she ended up calling Cigna and submitting straight to them. I'm so stressed out right now bc it seems no one at gwh knows what's going on. When they told us several months ago it was all good!
  4. Please any advice or help would be much appreciated ????
  5. I'm not getting bypass, but the sleeve. Wanted to see if anyone else has/had gwh and if they experienced any problems? So in the beginning they told me that it would be covered and they also told the office manager and insurance lady at the hospital. Now that they submitted their saying in my policy that it doesn't say yay or nay for bariatric surgery. It just says that diet clinics r not covered, but medically necessary procedures/stuff would be covered for morbidly obese patients if deemed medically necessary. Any advice or comments would be appreciated!
  6. Oh they also did cover all my pre op testing etc so it just makes me wonder.
  7. Sooooo today was the day all my papers were submitted. Since day 1 the office manager and insurance lady and myself called my insurance company to make sure they would cover it. The policy states they don't cover diet clinics, but they cover medically necessary stuff for the morbidly obese. They don't deny or accept they cover bariatric surgery. Well today my insurance agent told the office manager to submit to Cigna and see what happens. Please any advice or support right now would be appreciated!!
  8. And god knows all my specialists (all 5 of them) are super excited I'm getting it. Now I just need insurance to give me their approval for my surgery in November ????????????????
  9. My therapist who I see for my anxiety isn't exactly thrilled that in getting it. But in her words she had a former pt from complications so she's a little wary about bariatric surgery.
  10. I'm scheduled for November 24 with dr Mcdevitt in sc. I'm patiently ???? waiting for my insurance to make their decision. ????????
  11. My surgery is going to be on November 24. And I'm still waiting for insurance approval.
  12. Sorry if this is tmi.... But I'm taking the weight management fiber gummies that have chromium in it and I'm wondering if it's causing anyone else to pee ALOT? It's like every 5 mins I'm peeing ????????
  13. My nurse said for the sleeve the iron wasn't as important for us as we could still absorb it thru food. But I'm on one a day woman's multi vitamin, weight management gummies (4 chewable a day), probiotic chewable, and hair skin and nails Chewable.
  14. I'm taking the vita fusion chewable for skin hair and nails. I'm a lil less than 2 months out from my surgery, but my dr wants me to start taking them now. And yes I take fish oil and coq 10 and dr said no prob for both
  15. I'm 5.5 1/2 and 269. Start my 2 week liquid diet in November 12. Gonna do it on oct 12 in support of my BFF whose having her surgery on the 26th of October.
  16. That's weird. My rheumatologist and Obgyn and pcp wrote letters.
  17. Yup???? what's your current height n weight?
  18. I'm in summerville, sc and my cw is 269.
  19. Oh that's awesome and ur only a couple months older than me too lol.
  20. I will be having my sleeve surgery on November 24, 2015 @ 11am with Dr. Mcdevitt. Now praying my insurance approves quickly and my copay isn't too high ????????????????
  21. I make kofte Egyptian meatballs. 2lba ground beef, 1 head of parsley, 1 purple onion, 2 garlic cloves, a pinch of dried mint, and a pinch of coriander. Chop up very fine all ingredients in food processor and add to meat. Salt and pepper to taste. Roll out into meat balls or skewers and I bake for 40-45 mins at 350f. No bread crumbs and actually the only type of meat I can stomach bc chicken makes me sick now and I'm still pre op!
  22. Did u have to see ur pcp every month on top of already seeing the surgeon? Bc if that's true than I guess I'm screwed, bc no one from the insurance company or my surgeon office said I needed too.
  23. @@India928 we are bout to submit this week. So fingers crossed!
  24. I have Cigna great west and no one has said anything about weight gain. I've been on and off prednisone and with my meds it's so hard to lose weight (my lupus meds) so I'm praying they don't consider my yo yo weight an issue bc I hopefully file this week. I follow the diet 98% of the time and try to get my steps in and I've quit smoking!
  25. I'm still pre op and pop corn is like basically only junk food I really like so that's like my semi addiction. And coming from a southern household and being married to an Arab wherein each culture food is the center of everything, I'm doing my best to break the cycle.
