  1. I had surgery the day after you. :) It's definitely tempting to stray from your surgeon's plan, but I encourage you to stick with what they have advised you. I was also warned of solid food getting stuck and causing issues. It's very hard to stay with the liquids (I start pureed in two days), especially since I've now been on liquids for almost a month, but I keep reminding myself that IF something were to happen, I'd end up in the hospital again, which I don't want to happen!

  2. Same thing happened to me 3 days before surgery -- see your PCP for a blood test to make sure you don't have an infection. If it's just a cold, take the extra strength Tylenol Cold and Flu. I felt 80% better the next day and 100% on day of surgery! I would also let your surgeon know ahead of time to see if he/she has any recommendations, especially if you have a fever.

  3. The Sunday before my surgery on Wednesday, i woke up with a terrible cold and went through a whole box of Kleenex! Like you, I was so nervous that they would cancel my surgery. I emailed my surgeon's office and made the nurse aware. Then I went in for an appointment with my PCP that Monday and she ran a blood test to make sure I didn't have an infection. Thankfully it was just a cold -- nasal spray and Tylenol Cold and Flu (the extreme one) did the trick and I felt MUCH better on Tuesday...but I feel your pain because I was so worried!

My advice is to see your primary care as soon as possible. Get a blood test and take some OTC meds. Make sure you don't have an infection or fever for your own peace of mind. :) Best of luck to you!

  4. I definitely overpacked for the hospital and used very few things I brought! I recommend wearing the same clothes to the hospital that you'll wear home. Besides that, bring chapstick (my hospital provided this), your phone, ID/insurance card, iPad or book or something similar, chargers, extra underwear, gas-X strips, and your favorite pillow.

I walked the hospital in the gown and socks they provided. Never had any desire to make the extra effort to change out of anything lol

  5. Wow I just signed on tonight to ask the exact same question! I'm 10 days post-op and I have extreme nausea every time I take an Opurity-Optimized Sleeve/Bypass Vitamin. It's truly awful; I actually start feeling like my temperature is rising along with the nausea. It's happened 3 times now and I can't do it anymore! If you're already having trouble, I highly recommend staying away from that one!

I'll be watching this thread, since I also need help with this! :) I have to take chewables right now, so I'm limited as to what I can have.
