  1. Hello all, I'm new to the forums. I was sleeved on 1/6/16 by Dr Macik at Northside. . Surgery went well with no complications. I'm about 11lbs down after 13 days and have my first follow up appt later today.

I'm a 42yo married HR manager living in the Stone Mountain/Tucker area.

Anyone go to the Dekalb Medical or Northside support groups?

    Jen

Welcome and congrats on your sleeve. . I had dr. Macik when I got my sleeved done last year June 2015... he is a great dr. Even though he don't talk much lol . Personally I don't really go to the support groups because I'm a shy person and this app really has given me alot of support and answer alot of my concerns. Feel free though to ask anything here:)

  3. Having major Hair loss. Cut 6 inches off my length, hoping that taking some of the weight off will help.

Me too! I'm freaking out! Surgery was 6/12. I am down 75lbs, but getting super self conscious about my hair :(
Took another 6 inches off on Saturday. I can't quite tell but I think my hair is coming out less. Most of my loss is in the front. I can actually see my scalp. I think I might be turning in to Homer Simpson. Weight loss has been good. Have loss close to 90 pounds. Had sleeve surgery on June 10th. Feel good, just need to exercise more. How is other "June Sleevers" doing?

It really sucks my hair is thin already so when I started losing more hair I was getting depressed .. but my friend help me out with putting clip on extentions and it's making me feel more better and sexy ...

  4. Hey sleevers!!! Just got mines done June 5 2015 and I live in ga near stockbridge. Would love to have a sleeve buddy that I could relate to and establish a friendship along with this lifestyle change!!

Hey I'm new to Ga , I live in the Roswell/Alpharetta area , I had my sleeve done back in 2013 in NYC , looking to connect to some sleevers in Ga as well
welcome! !! How u like it down here ?

  5. Hey everyone!! I'm yani and I'm 25 with 2 kids and I had my we've done June 5 2015. S.w was 268 and c.w. is 228. At first the sleeve diet was a bit challenging and I didn't like walking alot but after a while it gets better. I use my kids as weights lol which they seem to love me picking them up and being active with them. Just got to stay active , get your protien in, Vitamins, and Water, and eat healthy . It's a new and long journey and only positive things now should happen !!! Any questions about anything I'll be the gal to ask :)

Wow. 40 lbs in one month?! AMAZING! We are the same age too. :) I'm 2 months away from surgery and we are around the same starting weight (I'm currently 10 lbs heavier than you). How was your first month on liquids? Difficult? Any tips?
the first month is a bit tricky and hard ... your mind starts to play games with you. Just have to really commit and focus. Do not try to eat anything !! It will hurt and make you sick !! Set an alarm on your phone to remind you to drink because once you have the sleeve your body tends to make you feel like your not thirsty or hungry. Try to mix up your protien shakes and liquids around so you don't get bored of having the same kind all the time. The first two weeks for me was fustrating because my mind wanted to eat something but you just got to fight it. And remember to walk walk walk ... them gases from surgery are still in the body so walking helps.

  6. Soo I'm currently at a stall and I'm like obessed with my scale .. like every morning and night I get on it to weigh myself.... I need to throw that sucker out but I guess just seeing the difference in weight made me keep reassure myself that I'm not gaining anymore weight..... anyways I feel good though ... 40 lbs down and i have more energy and move more around. Though I guess my mind has playing around with me so I think I'm still big like before... :/

  7. Thanks!!! I know I cant wait for the new life style!!!!.....How much have you lost???

I start at 268 and I'm tall 5'8 .. the two pre-op diet I weigh 265 the after 245..and of course I had the stall that everyone gets but ....currently I'm at 228 it's been 7 weeks since my sleeve. So a total of 40 lbs ... goal weight I'm shooting for is between 160-175lbs

  9. attachicon.gif IMG_4580.JPGI was sleeved on June 9th; today is my 6 week surgiversary! Surgery weight was 242lbs. As of this morning, I weigh 215 pounds. 27 pounds lost post-surgery, 37 lost in total. Woot!

I have an Iron sleeve, and have not had any issues eating or drinking whatsoever. I get about 64oz water/day, 80g of Protein, 850 calories and 20g carbs. My doc has just increased my calories to 1000/day, which I'm really nervous about. That seems like a lot for someone at the 6 week mark.

I've been going to the gym twice a week, but am hoping to pick it up to at least 4 days/week. I do about an hour walking on the treadmill, 3.5 MPH at a 4.5 incline. Yesterday, I even ran for a bit -- was very excited about that. I cannot wait for my body to become more fit and strong.

    Love my sleeve!

omg congrats !!!!???? you are doing such a great job!!! I just got out of my weight stall and drop 4lbs (total weight lost of 37lbs) ... I need to put my progress pic on here but I'll do that later. But you are making so much progress and you look great. I had my sleeve done June 5th and I think I too have the Iron sleeve . I been doing good and alot of house work and super cleaning and walking too.

  10. I had my sleeved done June 5th .. I had to do the 2 week pre-op diet but didn't really do a good job at it. 2 weeks post op I had lost 25 ( s.w 268 ) but now 6 week post- op I'm down a total of 36lbs (c.w 232). In between though I had like a 3 week stall where I wasn't losing anything. I have been following somewhat the diet and been slacking on the walking but I have been working around the house and using my kids as weights lol to compensate for it. I'm 5'8 so my goal weight would be between 160-175lbs.

  11. I'm new here as well and from the Atlanta area closer to Stone Mountain I dont have a date yet as I have one more test to complete before things are sent for approval. So I'm just taking in all the informaiton I can get to better prepare my self and to surround myself with as much support as I can get. Congrats to you all that have lost weight

Welcome to the family ???? I'm about 3o mins from stone mountain .. I recently had my sleeve done back in June 5 2015 .. so far it's a learning process and patience is key and got to committed to. Good luck with all your testing and procedure when you get it done. Feel free to ask anything on here or message people. Support is key. God bless.

  12. Soooo I'm like 5 weeks post op from a sleeve but for the past two weeks I started cycle but has yet to end .... now I haven't had a cycle for years now (I have the iud) but since surgery I got my cycle and hasn't stop... I feel fine and it just like a light to medium flow like a normal one but it just hasn't completely stop. I wonder has any of these happen to any one or should I be concerned?

  13. So I'm 2 weeks post -op and today,I felt like I was dying. My chest felt a sharp piercing pain when I breath and my stomach felt like it was about to explode. On top of that I was nauseous the whole day and I had pain all over my legs. I did walk to see if that would help but the pain continued... I was about to go to the ER but I took the meds and pass out. When I woke up the pain was still there but not as strong.... has anyone felt like that before? Or had that chest pain where it hurt when breathe like shortness of breathe?
