    Vitamins

I have a hard time to. I take two multi vitamins and three calcium chewable that all have to be spaced out... it's a chore. I set my alarm on my phone, but am thinking about other options like trying a vitamin patch from patchmd. My NUT doesn't like the patch idea, but I don't see taking pills every two hours as a viable option long term.
  2. I was asleep at 8am, surgery was done around noon... I have some memories around 2, but everything seemed to clear up around 4.

    R.A.P. protein

My nut also said 5 grams in MY serving... Taking into account that what we eat can be way less than a serving as packaged. I haven't tried any gummies to know if it would agree or not.
  4. I had my RNY on 8/17 (Monday) and was out on Wednesday. My doctor offered to send me home on Tuesday but I was not ready to go. I will be going back to work on 9/8, so 3 weeks off. I have a desk job and really want to take this time even if I'm physically able to go back sooner... It takes a lot to learn when you've got to take your pills, Joe and when to eat and drink, etc.

    Soda

I haven't tried it since surgery, but I had a diet coke funeral a couple days before my surgery... after I had given it up for a while before that. My doctor says after 6 months I may be able to try a small amount, but frankly, my last one wasn't that good and I didn't even drink the whole thing. I bet after 6 month it won't taste good anymore anyway... More of a good memory that won't live up to expectations.
  6. My wife had to rescue me a couple times from the recliner...I couldn't get back straight and the foot stool down by myself for a couple days.

    Such Pain after bypass

My biggest incision is also on the right side, and I've been having back pain since my surgery on 8/17. A few things that have really helped... 1. A wedge pillow and heating pad when lying down, 2. Gas-X strips, 3. Having my drain removed. I think because of the drain, I was over compensating with my back muscles.
  8. I know, the drain is the worst part right now. I didn't mind it so much the fist couple days, but it's getting old. I worry about the same things you mentioned... Puppies jumping, catching it on something, plus it's just gross looking.
  9. I had surgery on Monday as well. The first two days were hard, but it's getting easier and easier each day. I agree with the walking... It really does help even if I feel like a 90 year old man sometimes. Slow and steady wins the race. I was on clear fluids Tuesday and Wednesday, then adding other liquids and even some soft foods (yogurt, applesauce, cream of wheat, etc)... It's surprising to me what I'm allowed to eat already based on what other plans allow, but it's all gone down okay. I get my drain removed on Monday, and see my nut right after that.

    Back pain after RYB surgery

I'm having the same problem... lower to middle back pain. I think it's because of the beds in the hospital... and just being sore from surgery. It's the only reason I'm taking my pain meds at this point. A wedge pillow and heading pad is helping a lot.
  11. I just tried the chocolate Premiere Protein, and I really like it. I also like the cans of Pure Protein.
  12. yeah, that is a gift that will keep on giving for hours :-(
  13. i found a liquid at Sams club that is lemon flavored. ill be using that and havent found any real alternatives that arent completely disgusting.

    Alternatives to Omeprazole?

Thanks for asking MadTown. I'm doing better every day... My biggest pain is back pain from laying so much on an uncomfortable bed. I'm not having much problem with water, and had 1/2 a protein shake and some yoghurt today without issue. Once I get my drain out on Monday, I think I'll be able to move around a lot easier.

    Alternatives to Omeprazole?

My doctor is putting me on chewable Lansoprazole, instead of the omeprazole. I was able to get omeprazole covered by insurance by having my doctor previously say that it had to be in caplets and not pills.

    10 day liquid diet!

I was allowed to have raw vegetables and some dairy - cottage cheese, Greek yogurt - until the last 2 days. I lost 17 pounds in those 2 weeks. I really wasn't that hungry after the first couple days... I think even just on liquid it'll get easier after a couple days.
  17. Hi everyone. I just had my bypass at St. Marys in Saginaw. Just got home about an hour ago, and I'm glad to be in my own chair watching some Tivo and sipping some water and New Whey. It's good to see so many from Michigan on the boards.
  18. I just called and found out I need to get to the hospital at 5:30 Monday morning. The doctor said the surgery itself is usually a little less than 2 hours, but how long does it normally take to get everything ready to go after arrival time?
  19. I'm near Saginaw. Having my surgery on Monday.
  20. My arrival time is 5:30 Monday morning... It's getting real now!
  21. It was about an hour from the time they rolled me in until I remember being back in the room. I don't remember anything after counting down from 10. No pain at all, although I hear some people have a slightly sore throat. I walked out on my own about 30 minutes later... But was tired and slept a lot the rest of the day.
  22. Hi everyone, I just received approval from my insurance and have a surgery date in August. It's been a long process and I'm so excited to get to this point. I've read about a lot of people trying to get back to work as soon as they can - two weeks or less. Did any of you take more time off, or wish that you would have?
  23. August 17th here. Looks like we could have quite a big group. My doctor has me on 3-4 protein shakes a day, plus some dairy and all the raw veggies I want for the two weeks prior to surgery.
