lol in order to "stretch" your pouch, you'd have to be consistently over eating. Once or twice is not going to do that to you. Just like the stomach you had previous before. You did not add the weight on in over a week or two it took years. Its all about Portion Control and self control. It's a hard road to take but I tell people if you had a real addiction to food no shame in getting some help. I go to OA meetings every week. I work out every day but Saturday I log everything even if its bad and I tell myself its ok to mess up but get it together and make it right tomorrow. I'm not ashamed of who I was, I'm proud to know I had the brains and logic to stop the cycle now and get better! Enjoy this experience and don't let it get your down!

Thanks for the response, I am not much for carbs, but I will increase Water for sure, supplements still make me nauseous, trying to work it out, fearful of stretching my pouch, I ate a medium banana and worried the rest of the afternoon. Lol. Just never want to be overweight again.

To the OP, I lost 10.4 pounds my first month post-op.
But that number has absolutely nothing to do with how much you will or can lose your first month post-op. How much you will lose is a function of:
    * Your gender (most men lose faster)
    * Your starting weight (heavier people lose faster)
    * Your age (younger people lose faster)
    * Specific comorbidities you might have (some of them, like hypothyroidism and PCOS, may slow down weight loss.)
    * How well you understand and follow your surgeon's post-op eating, drinking and exercising instructions
P.S. And to the latest self-appointed forum moderator, @ ... yaaaawn.

Does anyone else feel like me? That going through the pain/trouble/hassle of WLS was a necessary right of passage for personal growth and taking charger of your life?

My weight tracker app decided I should weigh 124.7 based on my height of 5'4", and I hit 124.6 this morning. Figured it was a good enough reason to put on some heels and go Celebrate.

My bariatric center, dietician, etc., said my goal was 800 calories a day and 80 plus grams of Protein. I am 11 months out and have lost 115 pounds. I fluctuate between 750 and 850 calories and always more than 800 grams of protein. I drink two Protein Shakes per day and eat a Protein Bar that has 20 grams of protein. I "eat" less than I drink in calories and protein. When I have stalled, I alternate between fewer calories (700 - 750) and more calories (850 - 900) so my body doesn't think it is starving. That has worked to break the stalls. It does get harder to lose the more you have lost. I am 10-15 pounds to my goal and now am concerned about staying disciplined to keep it off. I keep track of calories and protein every day, and I don't eat a significant variety of foods. I live alone, so this is easier. I cannot eat gluten and have found that eating a limited number of choices is easier for me - I don't have to think much about what I am going to eat or focus on foods, groceries, and meal planning. Having too few calories can back-fire if your body goes in to starvation mode and/or when you need to have more calories per day. Everyone is different, and you need to figure out what works for you. Good luck!

This may not be the most popular reply and I am very early out - 4 weeks tomorrow - but right now I have a bit of buyers remorse. I know things will get better and I hope to be able to come back here in a couple of months and say no regrets, but don't fool yourself, THIS IS HARD. And no matter how much I read about it, I still wasn't prepared. This feeling of buyers remorse is very normal I am told. And the first couple if weeks weren't so bad but at 4 weeks in I am a bit overwhelmed with following all the rules and thinking about following all the rules at every moment of every day. I don't want this to deter anyone from the WLS path; I just wanted to say it's not all roses in the beginning. This too shall pass...

@@candy32980 It does seem that the rate of loss is faster with RNY, but I wouldn't necessarily see that as a benefit. There are a lot of benefits to losing more slowly. Your skin has more time to adapt. You don't have to replace your clothes as frequently. You get fewer comments on your rapid weight loss. And you have more time to mentally adapt to your changing body. Meanwhile, losing "fast" doesn't really have any long term benefit. In 5 years, will it matter if it took you a couple more months to lose those pounds? Nope! But, your skin and wallet might be grateful for the extra time!
