Why did I do this to myself?

My sister had RNY 2 years ago and felt the same way you feel... It will pass and you will be so glad you had the surgery. Just try to hang in there. I promise it gets better. We are all here to support you! These are just bumps in the road.

    Heartburn and bypass

I also had severe gerd with sleeve that is why I was revised to RNY. I do believe now it was dumping. It happened again today after drinking crystal light lemonade which is what I had when it happened during my post. I will no longer be drinking anything with any artificial sweeteners and sticking to just water and propel. I will be calling my surgeon tomorrow to question why I was not told to stay on my dexilant while I heal. Hmmmm thank you all!!! Good luck!

    2 Days post-op and hopeful

I was revised from gastric sleeve to bypass on 8/31. I had the same thoughts on food but know from the last surgery that would happen. The only pain I have is my lower belly feels like cramping and pulling. I have fits of energy then need a nap. I knew that would happen too. Hang in there! Once you start seeing the scale moving you will realize you did this for the greater good! Good luck and keep us posted on your progress !
  6. Having revision from sleeve to bypass Monday. Doc said I should be good to go back to work in 2 weeks. Anyone else who had revisions I am curious to know how long it took you to go back to work. Thanks!

    SLEEVE TO BYPASS REVISION

Thank you! Revision requirements are different from initial requirements. I had all them tests done to figure out what was going on initially. My upper Gi showed stenosis in sleeve as well

    SLEEVE TO BYPASS REVISION

Did you have to fulfill any requirements? I have had a hard time getting an answer from my clinic on what my insurance is going to require. I am at a normal BMI and am revising due to severe GERD/Barrett's. Yes I had to do the upper GI. 1phych visit, 1 nutrition, I already had a bunch of testing from my Gastro doctor like a gastric emptying scan and EGD and his office notes.

    Sleeve to bypass

So I had my sleeve 2012. I was great for the first year... Year 2 I started getting a little reflux... But year 3, This past year, has been a nightmare. I am on 5 different medications, I can't get it under control. I saw a surgeon, not the original surgeon, who is colleague of my original surgeon for a second opinion since my original surgeon got defensive like I was accusing him of messing something up. He gave me a few options and we decided on gastric bypass. I had some pre-op testing done and now I wait for my approval. We went over my UGI and it states no reflux however I explained my reflux isn't as soon as I eat.. It's a half an hour to hours later. He thinks I have a stricture or stenosis in my pouch. I am just hoping to be approved. I would really like to have the issue resolved. I am at a loss. If I eat I have heartburn and if I don't I have heartburn. I am miserable.

    SLEEVE TO BYPASS REVISION

I am so happy I found this thread. I am in the pre-op stage of revising from my sleeve to bypass. I read about "mini-bypass" what is that exactly and how is it different from a regular bypass? I saw it mentioned a few times. I loved my sleeve 2012 until this year. My GERD is soooo bad its really becoming a problem. I am on 4 different medications that I take more then once a day and most days with no relief. My pouch spasms... and I am doubled over in pain. I am using a different surgeon this time around because when I went to my surgeon with these concerns he looked at me like I was crazy and got defensive. I am concerned about complications. I didn't want to re-route my insides the first time around and am still on the fence but then the pain comes and I can not wait to get the revision! I have 2 more appointments this week and then I am done. Hopefully they can submit everything ASAP and my insurance doesn't give me a hard time. Fingers and toes crossed. Today my nutirionist told me that weight loss would be minimal if at all. I can still lose at least 30 pounds and be at my goal so I am hoping I at least reach that. She also said that my banana shaped sleeve would now be more like a shot glass and only hold 3-4 ounces. She said that it wouldn't "stretch" much since they removed the stretchy part of the stomach when i had the sleeve. I love reading everyone's comments, good and bad.

    VSG revision to Gastric Bypass

I am in the process of getting some tests done. Had endoscopy less then a year ago. Getting gastric emptying scan today. Then I just need 1phych, 1nutrition and a upper GI series. All are scheduled next week. Hoping to have the surgery done end of June beginning of July. Just worried about insurance. Ugh. My GERD is sooo bad! I am on 5 meds because of it. Was sleeved April 2012 and now need a revision to bypass.
