  3. i love this post! What was your beginning and cw? I am impressed. My first week....and I lost 15lbs. I know not to expect that now but! I am so excited!!I had surgery on 9/10/15 and weighed 216. I now weigh 169
  4. How is this for a before and after 4 months post surgery! Bahahahahaha! The struggle is real… ..
  5. I like the "if you loose any more weight your going to wither away". What the heck does that mean, really. I still weigh almost 170 lbs, what are they trying to prove or is it that maybe they just didn't realize how much I weighed before surgery. Either way , I just say, "yeah right"
  6. Checking in too! I was sleeved on 9/10. I am feeling great and loosing weight albeit a little slow compared to others. (I know, I know, dont compare, but it's hard) I was 216 now I am 169. I have so much more energy now, but I am not sleeping well now for some reason. I have an average of 17 restless periods of up to 23 min. A night according to my fitbit. Anyone else having trouble with restless sleep?

    Too skinny?

This is exactly what I told every single person who told me that they were surprised that I was approved for surgery or that I was overweight but not obese. I gave them my statistics and told them to look it up themselves. I am 5'2 and weighed 216 lbs on day of surgery. Obese is obese, you don't have to be 150 lbs overweight to be obese!

    Vomiting blood

Could it have possibly been coloring from any of the many pills that you took? Just a thought.
  9. I haven't tucked my shirt in my pants in more than 6 years!
  10. Exactly. We don't have WLS to lose weight fast. We have it so we can lose it and keep it off. I only lost more than 10 pounds for 2 months. I just posted this in another thread. Severe shoulder pain

Shoulder pain is a classic symptom of an absess I have since learned after my own experience with an absess

    Artificial sweeteners?

Update… . I asked my Doc about artificial sweeteners at my appointment. His exact words were, "I don't care if you use artificial sweeteners, really no difference in which one it's your preference. It's not going to hurt your weightloss"

    Drinking after eating

Thanks for the link. That is probably the best written and most informative article I have read in regards to the whys and why-nots. I have a VSG so alot of it doesn't apply but informative none the less.
  19. I just read this entire thread and was wondering how you are doing?

    Artificial sweeteners?

good question here. I too would like to know if there is a "good" artificial sweetener or if all are taboo. I will ask the NUT today while at my Dr's appointment. I believe I read in my WLS bible binder from my NUT that your body doesn't know the difference between one sweetener or the other, it just recognizes them all as a sugar/carb. But it's an important bit of information to be sure of.

    Severe shoulder pain

Same thing here but the pain started high at the top of my stomach radiating up into my left arm. Felt like I was having a heart attack. Every drink or bite of food I took was excruciating, but the pain never stopped. Turned out I had 2 pockets of fluid. After a week of pain and discomfort I had to go back to the ER and it had become an absess. That started a week's long stay in the hospital. So the moral of my story is even after you go to the ER, if you haven't found any relief in a few days go back. 2 weeks without food or liquids equal a very sick puppy. I had no idea how ill I was until they transported me from one hospital ER to the hospital where my surgeon practiced. Praying for a good outcome for you!
  22. Anyone like to share an example of their daily meals and snacks? I am 2 months out and need some ideas. I am tired of the same old things and to be honest I have never liked to cook but now I find I want to but just have no ideas.

    Halloween Challenge!

Thank you, very much! However, I can't take all the credit. I was in the hospital due to an absess, so some of the loss was just because I was too ill to eat. But it was still very exciting to see my name listed as the top % of loss. Thank you for your hard work and time spent working on the challange.

So why does this annoy me so much?

After reading this entire thread, I am just going to say this sorry if its offensive. Ignorance is no excuse. You are responsible for gathering the necessary information for success. The use of my "failed surgery" term is too loosely used. A failed surgery is that which due to a medically unforeseen complication resulted in unforeseen adverse challenges. Refusing to wrap your brain around lifestyle and behavior challenges and necessary changes is a "patient failure". Excuses are just that and you won't find any of those in medical journals. Sorry if your feelings are hurt or you feel like you are being judged. That's life, you don't get a participation trophy in WLS.
