    Cream of wheat

I think Unjury protein is supposed to be usable in heated foods and drinks. Check with your Nut.
  2. Sleeved 6/11 and I am dying to chew something. Thought about chewing and spitting out but I won't. I'll try another flavor shake today. 344 calories per day does not a happy fat man make! My wife is saving me with homemade broths and homemade sugar-free Popsicles (and some snuggles). I'll pay $1,000 for wheat toast with butter, one million dollars for a crispy piece of fish or chicken.

    Surgery at 56?

I'm 57 and had sleeve 6/11. Wanted to cry first three days but feeling pretty good last couple days. No complications. No nausea. 13 year diabetic journey "resolved" according to my doctors. I am home with wife and family and living on protein shakes and Popsicles ain't great, but that will pass. Romance with wife continues. All appears to be well. Just waiting for my first bit of food and a golf course. I took two weeks off work but might go in after seeing doctor Friday. Too old? You are a couple decades under that. Consider everything, but age is not an issue for you. I needed a pause in major life upheavals (new marriage, lost my mom, sister was sick, job displacement, college placement for kids, etc., etc.). When I saw a break in the action and still had insurance, I did the research, set up the appointments, and went in before I could back out. Good luck.
  4. I mean when my wife makes breakfast or dinner for herself and kids.
  5. I was sleeved on 6/11. Pretty miserable since. Today is better. Gas pain much less. I'm getting protein and water in. Not easy. My surgeon's PA tells me that my 13 year old Type 2 diabetes "appears to be resolved." !maybe this won't be so bad.

Then you need another full time helper. Mother? Sister? Hire someone.? Don't go in until this is worked out. You cannot recover from this and run a household first week. Don't even consider trying.

    Surgery tomorrow!

You won't need the iPad. Leave it in car. Good luck.
  9. I'm two days postoperative and nothing is moving. To boot I gained 9 lbs in hospital without eating for three days. Is this just fluids. When does all this gas start to move out? Yes I am walking a lot.

    Stomach pain

Make sure you walk before you sleep. I'm definitely moving gas along by walking at least a few mins every time I take fluids in

You will not be able to care for the kids after surgery. Period. This is like a bad childhood tummy ache combined with C-section type soreness. I'm three days postoperative. I can walk and dress myself but no way can I take care of kids. You can't lift them either. Hubby has to get onboard and take off a week to run the show and care for you and kids. My wife took off day of surgery and came to hospital every day to manage the medical staff who were nice but about half incompetent. (They tried to give me French toast for breakfast on day two and argued for some time that they were right). she is off work with me for the first week and is bringing me drinks, jello, pills etc. trying to get in the required 64 ounces per day of fluids. Get a plan in place that requires you to do nothing for others for at least a week.
  12. Thanks for replies. I'm a hurting puppy right now. I'm a recovering alcoholic so I am not taking any narcotics. The tummy hurts pretty bad but I have passed a bit of gas. Pills and fluids are tough going down. Shoulders still hurt bad. Walking helps. Starting shake for real this morning. Bottoms up. I am so lucky to have a devoted wife waiting on me hand and foot. She is managing all these food and pill requirements for the moment.
  13. My guy started me on shakes today upon hospital release two days postoperative.
  14. 2 1/2 hrs for me. They fixed a hernia too. Two days in now. Pain increasing but taking Tylenol and tramerol. Walking and drinking but nothing moving yet. Passed leak test. Home tomorrow

    Who Are You?

My surgery went fine. First night long but not terrible. Used pain med. walked. Waiting for leak test. Dying for water. I am diabetic and have not eaten or drank for two days. A real adventure. Blood pressure good and blood sugar parked at 110 with no meds.
