  1. Do you have any of the other common comorbidities? Diabetes, HTN, hypercholesterolemia, PCOS, etc.?

It seems strange that they made everything ride on whether or not you had sleep apnea. I have no experience with Aetna, but many insurance companies will cover the surgery with a BMI of 35-39 if you have another comorbidity. That may not be true for your policy, but if your surgeon's office thought that having apnea would do the trick, there are probably other comorbidities that would count, too.

    i guess

I think I'm just heathy in spite of my weight. I knew for sure that I had sleep apnea because I snore now but never did when thin. I've only been heavy for about 4 years and it's now beginning to take its toll on my joints and digestion.

  2. I'm am so bummed right now. I started this process a few weeks ago. My BMI is around 36. I was sent for a sleep study and I don't have sleep apnea. The surgeon's office emailed stating that my insurance would not cover me since I have do not have a BMI of 40. What do they expect me to do.... Gain more weight? I don't have extra funds just laying around. I am beyond upset..... Like wayyyyyyyy beyond. I'm getting a headache.

  3. Geez I feel your pain! I'm 12 days out and I've been constantly hungry!! Nothing satisfies me. I'm starting puréed on Thursday but I couldn't wait. Yesterday I wrapped a small thin slice of turkey with an even smaller slice of cheese and slowly mashed it in my mouth. I felt really bad about it but I felt so much better!!!! I had been feeling tired and weak. Today I had my Protein Shake and just now I had half of a 100 cal guacamole pack. I'm stuffed. My body needed something. I'm gonna try and hold off til Thursday for final ok from dr. The hunger pains are finally gone though. I'm feeling back to normal. I'm not saying do what I did. But talk to your Dr and tell him how u feel. Good luck!!

Oh my God.... You just made me LOL for real! I can totally see myself doing that turkey and cheese thing!! Good luck.

  4. Congrats!! I had my surgery June 3rd. My weight the morning of my surgery was 222lbs and I now weight 211. My goal is 120-130. It would be amazing to get down to the 120s but if not 130 is ok for me!!

My visit with my doctor was the morning of my surgery because my flight didnt get in early enough the day before. He took my vitals and my weight. Asked me a few questions and pretty much just went through what was going to happen. They had me in and out!

Some advice: take before your surgery pictures so you can see in 6 months how far you've come :).

take advantage of the pain meds while in the hospital!

walk, walk, walk!! it helps with the gas!

prepare yourself to get bored and a little frustrated with the liquid diet. If you love food like I did, It has definitely been a challenge sticking with the liquid diet. But ive been telling myself everyday "I can do this, I will do this, and it will be all worth it!!"

I absolutely LOVE that only after a week and 11lbs lighter, I'm already feeling more energized, I can see the difference on certain parts of my body and this is only the beginning!

    GOOD LUCK TO YOU!!

Your weight and goal weight are right there with me. I'm in the "getting approved process now." I can't wait to see you post your progress! I sure hope that I can get approved and fleeced by August/Sept.
