  1. How are Hiatal Hernias diagnosed? I'm planning on going the Mexico route because Ins does not cover. I would love to be able to stay in the states and do it for $3000!

Your surgeon or PCP can order that esophagus test called an EGD.

  2. I'll be using my care credit. I have some appointments in the Dallas area next month. Drs. Kim, Nicholson (Carlton), and one other. My friend Deb is there and we want to try to do it together. I hope one of them can do the "making surgery affordable" plan since I'm self pay. Crossing my fingers, eyes, and toes!

. I love my Dr! Dr Adam Smith with Fort Worth lap band. He did sleeve on me and takes carecredit. FYI DR. Kim's practice has a 10million dollar law suit against them. You can google. It wasn't dr Kim directly but an associate Dr. that was involved but it is pretty awful case.
I Googled and saw that. Dun-dun-dunnnnnnn! So sad for that man. They stated it was not Dr. Kim but another doctor as you mentioned. Sad case indeed.

  3. pretty in pink, Dr Kim did my inverted sleeve 3 years ago. He's awesome! Do you have any insurance at all with an exclusion of bariatrics? I know he has and affordable program of $4900 if you have a hiatal hernia. What I love about Dr Kim's office is the amazing life long after surgery support. We do monthly runs, get togethers, fitness events, and more! You have a great opportunity to get to know a lot of his patients through the private patient only Facebook support group. Its helped me be successful in keeping my 90 lbs off! good luck to your journey!

I have a feeling that he is who I will go with. Especially since Deb has already consulted and liked him right away. I'll be in Dallas next week!

  4. I've been looking into the WLS options for about a year. I talked to the people at True Results, Dr Kim and Dr Nicholson. I ended up going with Dr Jayseeling (recommended by my PCP) at Forest Park Medical Center (Forest and Central Expressway). The name kind of scared me but when I finally got to meet and talk with him he is born and raised in West Texas. I had my sleeve done on 4/24/15. I could not be more pleased. No pain, no nausea, no reflux and down 77#s in 3 1/2 weeks post op. His people are great and supportive, as is he. You are treated like old friends. I would recommend him to anybody although I can't promise your experience will be as good as mine.

So glad to hear that you are doing well so far! Keep us updated.

  5. I wonder what happens if you have implants pre-sleeve?

I had implants pre-sleeve. The nice thing is that my boobs haven't shrunk visibly at all. In fact they look bigger now in relation to the rest of my body. The bad news is, my left implant has now become malpositioned due to the loss of real breast tissue above it and I will likely want a revision. Though I'm going to wait until I'm done losing for that. It's not really that noticeable. I notice it, but even my husband didn't notice it until I pointed it out to him.

I was thin when I got my boobs. I pray they still look good when I drop these lbs.

  6. I had the same situation a year and a half ago. My BMI was 36, my doctor told me you are healthy and Aetna won't cover the surgery.

I stopped going to my doctor, but this year I have a BMI of 40, so I went back to him and now I am in the process of the approval .

I guess you can find a doctor with payment plan or you should do it in Mexico .

If you are gaining weight crazy like I did, maybe you should weight till you have a BMI of 40, but I DO NOT recommend you to purposely gain weight just to get a BMI of 40.

I'm definitely not trying to gain. I'm on a low carb diet now. I'm looking into self pay options and two other doctors.

I'm am so bummed right now. I started this process a few weeks ago. My BMI is around 36. I was sent for a sleep study and I don't have sleep apnea. The surgeon's office emailed stating that my insurance would not cover me since I have do not have a BMI of 40. What do they expect me to do.... Gain more weight? I don't have extra funds just laying around. I am beyond upset..... Like wayyyyyyyy beyond. I'm getting a headache.
