  1. I measure out what I think I will be able to eat. Usually, about 3/4 through the meal. I,too, get a soft burp or hiccup that signals me to stop. In the reading I've done, this is what we should expect.

I get hungry sometimes, especially if I have had a Protein Shake instead of "real food"....it lasts longer. Not drinking before, during or 30 min before my meal allows me to feel full longer.

  2. I am 5 weeks out....I am in stage of eating soft Proteins only with exception of a few soft veges like green Beans, yellow squash, zucchini with goal of 60-80gms Protein.

Breakfast: 3/4 of a soft scrambled egg with nonfat American cheese

    or

    Premier Protein shake

Lunch: chicken salad made with plain yogurt seasoned with

Hidden Valley Ranch dry mix, s&p, pickle juice, onion

    powder

Snack: Protein Shake or nonfat greek yogurt

Dinner: pinto Beans topped with melted part skim mozzarella cheese

Snack: Protein shake or nonfat greek yogurt

  3. I live in NC & am having the sleeve done Tuesday Jan 12th! Very excited..I, too, have been overweight all my life. I am

56y/o and have been trying to have WLS for more than than 10 years. God's timing is perfect though & everything has just fit into place. Since June, I've lost 40 pounds under supervised weight loss period required by insurance. I've lost 15# just on pre op diet. Much luck to you & stay in touch!

  4. Hi everyone I am new to this site, scheduled to be sleeved January 12th so many emotions going through me right now, but for the most part I am excited to start this new journey toward a better me !! I would love to chat with anyone willing to share experiences with me !

My sleeve is scheduled for Jan 12 as well. Let's chat from time to time with messages! I'm a nurse practitioner in N.C. Pre op diet is tough but I'm doing it & walking....how about you?

  5. Mom26, So sorry to hear about your son. I have a son that is 26 and know you are devastated but take care of yourself so you can be a support to him. I am a Stage 3 colorectal cancer survivor myself. I had surgery, chemo and radiation. It is tough but he can get through this.....I am praying for him and your family. God is good and is still a Healer....I have been cancer free for 10 years. I'm not supposed to still be here. My chances were not good for greater than 5 years survival, but here I am. I am believing and praying that your son will be healed as well through the work of his medical team and the touch of God. I am having my sleeve January 12. Something I never thought I'd be able to do after my cancer diagnosis.

  6. Stacy1204,

I am a NP house calls provider and I know your pain. I see at least 6 patients a day myself. I am in the process of my 3 month supervised weight loss period now. I pack a cooler from Thirty One. It keep cool my Protein Shakes from Adkins as well as cheese sticks, V8 juice (6 oz cans), yogurt etc. I put a refreezable pack in with them and keep it zipped up unless I'm getting something out. I also freeze a water bottle that half full and finishing filling with Water in the am for the day. It lasts practically all day.

I hope to be sleeved but not sure if my insurance will pay for that procedure...may be having RNY....or lapband is my last choice d/t my bmi.

Hoping all goes well in September. I know you will do great!!!

    Rhonda

  7. I'm pretty much in the same stage....pre pre-op. I started a 3 month supervised weight loss period 3 weeks ago and have lost about 7-10 pounds. I am fitness pal and keeping my calories under 1600. I'm trying to give up my diet Sundrop but it is hard. I am also Water jogging at the pool 3-4 nights a week. When I saw my nutritionist yesterday she said that Adkins shakes are good...even post op. I use them for Breakfast since I was not a breakfast eater. Otherwise, I try to eat a well balanced low fat meal for lunch and dinner with fruit, cheese, or nuts for Snacks. Hope you have a good week. Give me a shout next weekend, PhatPhoenixVSG! We can keep each other motivated during this pre op time! :)

  8. Hi, I am new to the website. I am 55 y/o. I've been overweight since I was a toddler but have had a great life so far....I have decided to have WLS so I'm here as long as I can! I have been happily married 30+ years to the same wonderful and caring man (almost unheard of these days) and have 2 grown children (27 and 25 years old, boy and girl). We live near Greensboro, NC. We all are foodies and my husband has been able to wear it better than me or my daughter. My insurance requires a 3 month "supervised" weight loss period....so I'm doing that now. I'm eating less and moving more but I have a long way to go and I am excited about having the surgery to help me along.

I am a nurse practitioner who does house calls for elderly and homebound patients. I love my job but getting in and out of the care 8-10 times a day, squatting, bending, and carrying equipment in and out of all kinds of home environments is tough weighing 280 pounds!

I would love to be "friended" on this site by anyone who feels like supporting a newbie. I can use all I can get. My family is supportive but does not always understand my trials with food.

    Thanks in advance
