    June 2015 sleevers

It never ceases to amaze me how VERY different surgeon and NUT advice is. If we are all having the same procedure than why is it that it is so confusing to hear how everyone does everything so different. I was told I could NEVER eat enough to get my daily needs met as far as Vitamins minerals and Protein. I find it very hard to believe that people can eat 90-120gms of protein with just food with a sleeve. I was told to do a min of 2 Protein shakes a day (30gm) per shake so that I can try to eat the rest. I also hear some people don't count anything (regarding calories and carbs etc) and some just count every single bite. I get more confused on here hearing all the different practices, I have no idea which is right or wrong or maybe every single process will work, but how the heck do I decide what to do when there is so MUCH conflicting info out there. Feeling very overwhelmed and wondering how to figure out what the heck to do. I keep flip flopping and as a result am stalled. Just want to cry.

Pre op diet ultimate failure to come......HELP

I don't have children at home, so made my hubby cook for himself. It is still hard no matter what you have to do, I was on straight liquids for the full 2weeks. One tip that helped me tremendously was when I started craving food I drank bouillon cube in 16 oz liquid, gives you the savory feeling without cheating. I feel for you, but it is possible, go walk around the block or something to distract you when it gets really bad and the bouillon doesn't seem to work.

I haven't been through menopause yet but when I do I plan on using bio identical. I can't see why it would be a bad thing as it's a natural hormone in our bodies already.

I know this is a crazy question...

No dumb questions ever! Once you are out, you will not care. Its not just because of access, its also because of sanitary reasons. You can't consider a OR completely sterile if you have any type of garments on. They cover you with paper drapes etc. once you are on the table. You are not just lying there nude. Hope that helps.

    Looking for a female buddy.

https://www.facebook.com/groups/845709985483850/ Here is the link to the 50+ Sleevers group on Facebook, of course I would never Exclude anyone that wanted to join, but I believe our journey is a bit different than the youngins so thought it would be very helpful to have a place where we deal with the issue of losing weight after 50.

  18. I am a recent sleever, ( June 8th ) and I was so blessed to find Vaping as an easier way to quit smoking. You can start out with a higher nicotine level and then gradually down to zero nicotine. It completely took the urge away after over 30+ years of smoking almost two packs a day. You leave the anxiety and panic over quitting at the counter! I realize there are lots of people who don't understand vaping and will probably get attacked, but its so much better than taking the risks of medication that has side effects a mile long and you can't take it if you suffer from anxiety and depression. I think there are a lot of us with weight issues that would fall into this category. So I have found a juice company that is willing to help and give anyone on here a major discount ( 25% off ) for the juices to help you get started. I am not advertising this company, just giving a gift. Go to www.luxeliquidvapor.com and see the wide varieties they offer in the three lines they make. 100% USA made and award winning. Use discount code bpal for your discount. I wish you much success!!

  21. Thank you so much I knew this was true but not being a medical professional I wasn't going to argue.
  22. As a nurse, I can tell you that having a BM every 2-3 days is within normal limits. In fact, believing that you need to pass stool every day is what leads many people to laxative abuse. Additionally, given the extremely restrictive diet and consuming liquids, this is fine. Unless you actively feel constipation and colonic pressure and need to poop but can't, it is acceptable.

    Looking for a female buddy.

Hi Bev, Every person has different tolerance levels for different things so I would be happy to share my list I had in advance but honestly I didn't use everything I bought. The most Important thing I used was the isopure liquid protein drink . You probably won't be able to tolerate shakes for a bit. I would rather have had it though then to be caught off guard. Are you on Facebook? It would be easier to upload my list there.
  24. I am just repeating what my surgeon and my NUT has told me. So feel free to disagree with them, but you should not put a "not normal" label on anything in this VSG world as so many Surgeon and NUT directions vary so greatly and everyone's body reacts differently to different directions.

7 weeks post op feeling very tired

I think the point that is so often missed is what a MAJOR surgery this is and how your body needs time to heal. Healing takes longer for some than others. I agree Water is of the utmost importance as if you get slightly dehydrated it will make you feel tired and get headaches among other things. If you take your Vitamins and drink at least 60gms of Protein via shakes you should be able to get your 90-120gms in by supplementing with your food. Don't feel discouraged, this too shall pass
