At what point does the obsession stop?
@@VSGAnn2014 It's digital. I weighed my daughter and some other items to make sure it wasn't wrong.

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@CowgirlJane You're right! I might have to put her on punishment, old b*tch! LOL!!!! I've had that scale since 2004. I bought it from a specialty site because back then it was almost impossible to find a scale that went up to 400 lbs.

ketogenic/keto diet
I follow a keto diet. Not sure about the muscle thing, but it's the only way I can actually lose weight. There are a couple keto groups on facebook. They have a lot of good info in the pinned posts. https://www.facebook.com/groups/ketogenicsuccess/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/407740426088952/

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@anewme2015 I added a Protein shake yesterday and woke up to 2 of the 5 pounds gone, so I might increase calories to 1000 for a while and add more protein. Yesterday I had 1022 calories with 89 grams of protein. Today I came in at 935 calories, 99 grams of protein. I probably won't weigh again until Friday or Saturday. (hopefully)

Stall again!
Every. Freaking. Month. It may be hormonal. I only lose the week to 10 days before my cycle. I usually lose a pound a day during that time. Then I stall or gain a pound or 2 for the rest of the month. It's maddening, but once I recognized the pattern, I grew to be ok with it.

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@Steve Puckett I track daily on mfp (334 day streak! LOL). I posted that early on with a clip of my macros. I weigh, measure, and log EVERYTHING. Since the start of this entire process, I have been a "slow" loser. I don't lose every week. I lose one week per month (dang hormones!). People stall at all weights. The stalls I can handle... the 5lb gain out of the blue is worrisome though. I just don't like being obsessed with counting constantly. And just fyi, I don't compare my losses to other people's; especially considering all circumstances are not the same. We had different surgeries...yours included malabsorption. I've lost 148 pounds in one year and I'm proud of that. Congrats on getting to your goal in 1 year...

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@pr_pitbullgrl Yes, but not at much as I should. I walk a lot (about 45 minutes to an hour daily), but I need to incorporate more resistance training. I haven't done it in about 2 months... (I had to have surgery to remove kidney stones last month and have been on restriction. I got cleared for regular activity 2 weeks ago but I still had pain.) I'm gonna give it a go tonight, though. Congrats on your loss as well!! 10 pounds to goal is awesome!

Deciding the Band
I got a sleeve because I needed more permanent restriction to control my eating. My surgeon said I was so young that I'd have to have my lapband replaced at least once or twice over the years and plus there's the fill maintenance. That was enough to convince me. I have struggled with portion control my entire life, so I knew the sleeve was right for me.

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@pr_pitbullgrl Luckily I don't really have a sweet tooth, so I'm good with a sugar free fudgecicle when I want something sweet. I don't like rice and I don't care much for Pasta, so it's been really easy to go without that kind of stuff. Now, tortillas, chips, and potatoes are another story. I've learned to get along without them, but I do have a little on holidays. Outside of that, I'm super low carb day in and day out. If we have pizza, I just eat the tops, I like making stuff with zoodles... I feel like my eating is fine. I'd just like the scale to cooperate so I can stop obsessing about the numbers/calories. It's like I don't trust myself...

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@Inner Surfer Girl I am definitely trying to control it. I have a type A personality with a need for control. I have struggled with control issues my whole life. My weight is a reminder of my lack of self control in that area, but that was a result of my mother controlling my intake while growing up. I started sneaking food when I was 5 or 6. I remember wedging myself between the washer and dryer with a bag of chips. (that was the first time and I can't believe I remember that!) When I was finally on my own, I thought "finally, I can eat whatever I want and not hide it!". But obviously I wasn't "hiding" it. What you eat in secret you wear in public. I surprised myself when I sought out wls, but I knew I needed help. I needed to save me from myself, you know? Anyway, the struggle with control continues. I'm going to check out that book. Thanks. :-)

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@Inner Surfer Girl It's definitely unsustainable. I'm consistently around 950 most days. At my 9 month check up, they told me to stay at 800 calories, which at this point isn't happening. I wonder about my level of metabolic impairment.

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@KristenLe I did. And I gained 5 in about 3-4 days. (I weighed daily to see) That was 2 weeks ago. So since then I went back down in calories and I'm just holding. I'm trying to replace a few meals with shakes to see if it helps. I probably just need to give the scale a break.

At what point does the obsession stop?
I eat salad every day, lol. I have done so for like 20 years. I think you might be right. My body is like ok give me a minute to figure out what's going on. I'm not close to goal, but I have made significant progress. I suppose if it takes me another year to get to goal, that's ok. I just don't want this to be the end of the road for me. Like who has wls and stays 300 pounds after the fact?? No go!! And then I think of the financial sacrifice it was/is. I at least need to get under 250.... maybe I'm stressing too much.

At what point does the obsession stop?
@TheRealMeIsHere! @Kindle @Inner Surfer Girl I eat a low carb/ketogenic diet. I am sugar free and grain free. I always get at least 80 grams of Protein - no matter what. I don't usually snack or I may have one snack per day. I log my foods daily so I can keep up with what was "working". I've stayed closer to 900 calories since around the 3 month mark as I could never get myself much lower (probably due to fat intake, but you need fat if you don't eat carbs) It was working for the first 140+ pounds, so quite naturally my thought is that I needed to go down. Not sure. Keep in mind that I exercise for about 45 minutes to an hour 4 days a week. I also only eat between 10am and 7pm. Here's my macros for a typical day:

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@VSGAnn2014 Idk... I'm getting desperate. It's this kind of "dysfunctional" or "disordered" eating that concerns me. If I eat too much, I don't seem to lose. I tried going up to 1000 and I gained about 5 pounds (2 weeks ago), and still can't get them off.

At what point does the obsession stop?
@@Kindle I've been hitting 1000 quite often cuz I'm so hungry!!!! I try to compensate with more exercise. The stalls are coming more frequently and the weight loss suddenly came to a screeching halt. I wonder if the doctor would consider giving me an appetite suppressant.

At what point does the obsession stop?
I feel like I'm obsessed with food now more than ever. My cravings/appetite has returned, and now I'm constantly obsessing over how I can have what I want but make it fit into my 800 calories per day. Because I'm so limited, I want everything to taste phenomenal. It's so strange. Is this dysfunctional?

What Has Been the Hardest Habit for You to Break?
I'm still struggling to control portions. Over-serving myself and then trying to eat it all. It is horrible!! I had been using a small bowl for my meals for months and lately I've been using a regular size plate. Huge mistake. So I'm back on my small bowls to see if I can't get control again. :-( Oddly, I don't struggle with food choices. I'm ok with the low carb diet.

Let the rant begin...
I guess that's the whole point. It not anyone's place to overanalyze a person's weight - up OR down. Especially if we're not friends. Like I said, just tell me I look good, and keep it moving, LOL

Let the rant begin...
@@CowgirlJane I'm pretty sure there was no harm meant. It's just interesting the questions people ask and how they ask them. I think most people are genuinely happy for me, but then there are others who attempt to compliment you and hurt your feelings at the same time. I hate the "how much have you lost and how much more do you want to lose" question because people start trying to figure out how much you weighed initially. It's just not their business. I also don't like assumptions made about me... like "I'm sure your feet don't hurt as much". Huh?! I just think it's rude when people are too presumptuous. I don't get angry though. I just think it's funny/interesting.
