  1. I have been keeping up with several groups on Keto diet and there is information on intermittent fasting to promote weight loss. I have tried this ( fasting 16 hours a day and consuming all meals within 8 hours) but with the limited quantity I can eat at one meal, I have found that I can’t get all the calories in an 8 hour period.
I don’t get hungry (a good thing) and will eat till “full” but I would have to eat every hour to get 1200 calories in 8 hours. This frustrates me because I know from past experiences that I go into starvation mode when my calories drop under 1000.
Has anyone else tried intermittent fasting post sleeve?
I would say don't worry about the calories you are doing great, you will see, stay the path!

Wouldn't worry about starvation mode, if you go back and look up IF and that subject area, you will see body really doesn't go into starvation mode until 2-3 days... They say that was kind of a myth to go into it so soon, and you are EATING. In reality starving is getting NOTHING with calories, lol...

Go 2 weeks as you are and see the weight fall off...

I have been doing IF for 5 weeks and weight is falling off, down 15 of the 25 pounds I trying to lose that weight gained back after 3 years post sleeve...

Great thing about IF is that you eat whatever you want and as you said you really won't eat much but all cravens for whatever you want are met, even if you only get a few bites of it...

It sure beat 10 small meals a day and all other diets, which this really isnt!

Loving that I don't snack all day because I'm just drinking coffee and Water and know one knows what I'm doing, lol..

    Just my 2 cents...

  2. How about treating myself while on Keto diet with diet pepsi or diet rootbeer. Have always drank it before with sleeve. I see mixed reviews, all say "legally" it passes because it has no sugar, 50% say they do it, 50% say they feel the sugar substitute will confuse system MAYBE taking you out of keto temporarily...

    Any knowledge on this?

  3. OMG! How much do I owe you?

    You made me feel good!

You hit it head on, I'm almost 4 years out and the thought of pounds creeping up on me is embarrassing (if you let it be, at least I am).

I don't want to really acknowledge it, I want to act like it's not happening and give half efforts to fix and today I finally acknowledged it out loud to my mate and now I am determined and not alone in this issue!

For first time since weight has be creeping up over past 6 months have I really understood I need to take it seriously and be determined to take care of issue..

And I am relaxed because I'm not hiding my self imposed shame!

    Thanks again!

  4. I'm a Christian, and I don't tell people about my surgery unless they are family or friends that I feel like sharing with. My medical history is private, and I wouldn't feel obligated to tell others if I had had some other type of surgery. So when coworkers ask how I've lost 160 lbs, I tell them a piece of truth (I go to the gym now, I eat less carbs, smaller portions, etc) and then I change the subject. My battle with weight may be apparent on the outside, but it's a very personal and private issue for me on the inside. Some people are more open about it, and that's ok too. Don't lie about anything, but don't feel like the world is entitled to your private medical history.

    Amen!

  5. Amen!

I've said nothing... They can talk and assume but it won't come out of my lips....

If you tell them, you will regret it for a very long time....

The thinner and more amazing you look the more they will HATE you. You will be amazed how many people like you as a plump or obese person, you were put in that box and they want you to stay there...

    Very sad but real!!!

    Great post!

  6. You are my hero as well, I'm 16 months out and am starting to let that sugar craving move in.

For me I know if I never say I'm gonna eat another candy bar I will feel like it is the forbidden fruit and think about it from a far constantly. So I workout and eat this candy bar which is 300 calories and track it in my daily calorie intake. I see bags of candy, recee cups and such at the store and before surgery I use to buy a bag and eat it in 1 day.

Understand how that is suicide for us, understand how eating from the candy dish at work in the death sentence for us as well.

I woke up this morning with a similar fear as yours, that is why I came to this site this morning before getting out of bed, for moral support and upliftment. This is how I saw your post.

I am now understanding the daily reaffirmation of what we are doing will keep us on track..

Just had my husband released from the hospital after 4 days, he fell from a chair he had fallen asleep on (has terrible sleep apnea that has caused narcolepsy) and broke his front tooth and some ribs... the worst part??? His blood sugar was 340. New diagnoses of diabetes!!! He has been my reason for fighting for this again!!! I stalled at about 8 months post op for 3 months!!! Honestly stopped trying after that, but this incident quickly reminded me why I had surgery in the first place!!!

  8. Yesterday I had my one year post op appointment. I gained six pounds since my six month post op visit. My surgeon was great about it. He told me what to do to jump back into the game and continue losing weight. I will begin that on Monday. It's a bit hectic with guests over this weekend. He told me I look amazing. I have lost 77 pounds already since my journey began. I will hit this full force. I want to lose another 40 pounds. I know I got this. Thank you so much for all the support from this group.

Thank you so very much amesleeved

    You definitely got this!

  9. I have been working out down to 3 days per week, 30 min weight, 25 min aerobics.

No meal prep, what worked has been consistently doing Protein power twice daily and meal once or twice a day with chicken or beef. Snacks were cheese and nuts.

Problem in last 6 weeks has been laziness eating chips and candy from time to time and problem besides the obvious is that unlike chicken and beef meals that keep you full and content for hours, chips and such get you hungry in an hour and then you go to eat in an hour instead of 3 to 4 hours which then really takes up bad calories and such...

I think the key is to just refocus as I was 6 months ago....

  10. I don't know UalreadyKnow. Weight loss has definitely slowed down tremendously. I'm now averaging 1- 2 pounds a week and sometime 0 pounds a week. And I strongly feel as though I'm not done losing. I attend the monthly bariatric support groups at my surgeons office and what I gather from other sleevers who starting weight was high like mine (349 pounds) was that your going to lose the majority of your excess weight within the fist 12-18 months. Now if after that 12-18 month honeymoon period you aren't at or near goal , you will never reach your goal. On the plus side losing 200+ pounds used to be unlikely with the sleeve and gastric bypass was always recommended. However since doing some research and reading a couple newbie post, sleevers are losing more than the standard 50-75% excess weight. What are their secrets? I would like to know. I'm eating around 1200 calories a day and working out 4-5 days a week consistently. I even work out in a sauna suit and I'm still not hitting my monthly weight loss goals. That can be very discouraging as sometimes I feel I'm doing all this work just for a 1-2 pounds a week weight loss. This has caused me to lose motivation however I still won't allow myself to give up.

Wow! 2 lbs a week! You are rolling, that means maybe 8 or 9 lbs per month.... That is 64 to 72 lbs in 8 months.... Keep doing what you are doing! I feel you are going to keep losing... Stay the course! I am maybe 2 lbs per month now and I am ecstatic....

Me three, I HATE the attention now, weight is going great, but just leave me alone, lets talk about something other than me.... That is killing me.... The undertone is always jealousy and the more they talk and ask with every opportunity you start to see the pattern...

  12. It seems like we are doing well and aggressively moving towards our goal set weights...

Do you all get any of your friends, family or coworkers that say, you look good but do not lose amymore weight, this is where "I" want you to be." Or "You are getting to skinny"...

Seems to me this people are use to the "fat or plump" me and since they are use to that they don't want you to look any different even if that means that you are now healthy with lower blood pressure and able to now function "like them" within society....

  13. I will try some of those firming techniques as well. You are right about the goal weight, we are just making up that number and need to just guage by site...

I had a goal of 185 that I made up, I am now 198. I picked 185 becuase I wanted to stay as far away from 200 because mentally I feel I will be too close to where i started which is just in my mind.

After coming so far and all of this effort I NEVER want to go back! Never ever!! Did I say Never Ever, I have come too far....

Goal for 1 year mark is maybe 5 more lbs. Because I am losing at about that rate, which I am very happy with, no concerns about that, very pleased...

Love the sleeve and how it fills up when eating, that is incredible. Never each much but it is like magic how it kicks in after several bites into my sandwich...

Weight loss is great body looks good, work out religiously 3 to 4 days a week for an hour. Big trouble spot for me is my stomach all other areas are primo...

  15. This might be stupid, but I'm also 10 months out (just about) and my energy wasn't good the week before last.

I came down with strep and some sort of unknown virus. I think my energy level had more to do with my body trying to fight of an illness.

So, while I hope you're not getting sick or anything, that is what happened to me. My energy level is slowly returning to normal.

Well I added the Iron back in daily and I have been feeling a lot better, had to add the Miralax daily to combat the Constipation side effects, so far so good, its been 4 days....

  16. It could be that you are not taking in enough nutrients-Protein, carbs, overall calories to sustain your body's needs. I just went through something similar here at 6 months where I wasn't getting enough and I was falling asleep all the time and I would have crushing Migraine like headaches every afternoon. My weight loss also stalled out and I felt really just ill. My blood work was all good, just like yours so I asked my NUT for help, but she didn't really offer me anything except when my weight first stalled she cut out my carbs which made me even more tired and more ill. So after talking to several people on here, I went rogue and bumped my Protein, carbs, and calories up and now my weight is melting like butter and I'm not tired anymore. It might be something to think about.

    Thanks!!!
