  1. Sounds great. Glad you have that past you !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  2. I'm going to look into this and see if there are hotels in the area that have Sleep Number beds. Sure would be great to test drive one for a night. Thank you !!!! Things are going really well and I have no complaints whatsoever about my sleeve surgery experiences. Work is going okay.....glad I went back over a weekend and have been afforded the luxury of working 6-8 hour shifts vs 13+. I am very fortunate in so many ways. If things keep going the way they have been......by Summer 2016 I will feel like a new person entirely......20 years younger and healthy. Lord knows I'm ready for it. Going to see the sleeve surgeon tomorrow for my 4 week follow-up. Also seeing my primary doctor for a review of the blood pressure issues.
  3. You've been through a lot. Sorry about the shoulder.....hopefully it will heal right on schedule. Painful stuff you've undergone. It's hard to lose weight while being sidelined but folks do it. Nothing easy about it but it is a simple process. You are right on about cutting out the carbs and upping the Water intake. Try to cut the sodium, too and you'll start flushing it out.
  4. Karl.....only you know what it'll do to your quality of life. If enjoying a vodka drink with your wife on a date night enhances your relaxation and makes it easier to stick to the plan the rest of the week then so be it. If, however, the only thing better than one vodka on a date night is several on multiple weeknights then you have to decide. Our surgeons are our trusted advisors, however, we reserve the final vote for ourselves.
  5. Cruel and inhumane torture those doughnuts & cupcakes are.
  6. I'll bet you'll feel it once you are eating foods beyond the pureed stage. FWIW I'm 3.5 weeks and can drink 11oz Protein shakes in 2-3 mins and a 30oz glass of Water in 10 mins. I'm pretty certain the restriction will be noticed once I have some more solid sustenance. Relax....it's all good.
  7. You've been through torn rotator cuff surgery and c-sections. You understand what pain feels like....bigtime. I think you just have the jitters because of the unknown aspects of this surgery. Understandable. In my case there isn't much noticeable restriction with liquids. I haven't reached actual foods yet, but I'm fully expecting the restriction to show up at this point. If you have prescribed anti-anxiety meds and feel the need to take them......go for it. Let yourself relax and recover peacefully. You got this.
  8. We are going to get there. It'll kick start soon. I used to like drinking diet ginger ale pre-op. I'm scared to fool with it now due not wanting to mess around with carbonated stuff just yet.......but I will give it a shot at some point and see how I do just for experimentation purposes.
  9. Certainly understandable. You are making a big change, ramping up towards surgery and engaging in new behaviors with the strict diet. It's on your mind morning, noon and night......even as you drift off to sleep.
  10. Pure Protein tastes great and is loaded with fiber......pre-mixed or powder sold at Walmart.
  11. Selected among the Center of Excellence practices in my area.
  12. Grinning at your post. Reason I'm grinning is that you absolutely nailed how I've felt the last 3 days. My sleeve was done on the day prior to yours and the scale hasn't budged in the last 3 days for me. No worries. As long as you know for certain you are doing your part......then rock on. The weight loss will resume in due time. If, however, you know you are NOT doing your part.......then you also know what you have to do......get back on track and then rock on. No worries. Things are really simple for us at this point.....not many choices......narrow decision windows. Easy to follow plan with nothing much to figure out.
  13. You'll know when you are truly ready. Until then.....there are tons of pills, plans and schemes to attempt and see how well you can do with them. When you are ready.....you'll know it.
  14. Great thread. Excelllent post @@Radar I share those same rerets......why did I wait so long ???????????????????????????
  15. I hear ya, dude. She was trying to pick you up. Gotta love the random attempts like that.
  16. You can have my share. Peanut Butter and crackers is just the type of foods I'm trying to avoid during the weight loss part of this deal. No thanks.
  17. They are very much like Starburst friut chews in terms of size and consistency. Some in the line are flavored like dessert candies and some are more fruity. I've tried them all and like each. I'd order a couple different flavors, though.....so you can have variety. 500mg 90ct $32 (30 day supply).
  18. Embrace the stank. Thou art riding the ketosis wave and getting the benefits of fat burning at a faster rate. Brushing, mouthwash, breath strips and lots of Water are about all you can do.
  19. Well.........I can't speak for everyone else.....but I can say that there was a time during the process that I felt somewhat the same. It was just before I wrote the check to pay for the surgery & pre-op/post-op care. I kept thinking....you know how to lose weight. You've done it before and can do it again. You got this. Do it yourself. I almost convinced myself to save the money and spend it on the sports car I wanted. Then I thought about it. My fat arse trying to enjoy that new car. I thought about what the most was I'd ever lost in one effort.....how much it relied on excercise (stuff that I'm unable to do at this time due to injuries)........how long it took...........how it was only 1/2 what I need to lose this time. Yeah.....I kissed the sports car goodbye and gladly wrote the check for my sleeve surgery. Instead of driving a sports car I can....with some work.....FEEL like one soon. I don't regret it for a moment. That being said, if you aren't going to support yourself post-op and push yourself to adhere to the diet.......and it is a diet and new way of eating.......then the surgery is a needless waste of time, expense and opportunity. Only you can gauge how much effort that you are willing to put forth. This is the deciding factor as I saw it for myself.
  20. Awesome !!!!!!!! I can say that without question my "most embarrassing NSV" was a pants-on-the-ground moment, too. Ironically, it was when I was bringing in groceries.....had a few bags in each hands.....had climbed the front outsided stairs and made it to the top and then they dropped......all the way down....belt and all. My neighbors and anyone driving by had a crazy sight to greet them. Couldn't be helped. Gotta love the need for smaller clothes.
  21. That sounds like music to my ears. I'm sitting here at work....with a freaking lumbar pillow wedged down the back of this chair trying to ease this. I'm definitely going to swing by the Sleep Number store on Monday.
  22. Wow. That is a problem that I'd like to have !!! Are you able to dial it up to a firmness that is super stiff ?
  23. Methinks I see the heart of this problem........ Your friend.......she's not a Gamecock fan is she ?????? Would explain the morose outlook and feeling of impending doom on the Clemson-South Carolina game. Clemson is riding the highest of highs.......Gamecocks are downtrodden. I'm just kidding with the sports angle. Hopefully you'll be able to cheer your friend up. You've certainly does well and made great improvements and that's what you have to hang your hat on at the day's end. Well done !!!!!!!!
  24. Sounds really good. Are you able to dial it up so it's really firm and you don't sink down in it ? This is my complaint with the memory foam. I simply sink down and my back never feels any upward pressure from the mattress.
