Hunger Pains?
You have a lot of healing to do. Your stomach has been through some serious trauma. Much inflammation and such. You are likely getting some odd feels that will subside in the weeks ahead. I can remember these days well. I sorta felt that "blah" feeling the first 3-4 weeks, but then between 6-9 weeks things really started to fall into place and I felt exceptionally wonderful. That's been how it's gone ever since.

The Pre Op Diet
I would be very careful with the concepts of "I can have all the cheese I want". While most cheeses are low carb, they are also calorie dense. In addition to staying low carb you are also trying to lose those 15 lbs over the next 6 weeks. I suggest that your nutritionist also give you a calorie goal for each day. You can use an app like MyFitnesspal.com to help you track your food (calorie) consumption as well as watching your carbohydrate consumption. I think you can lose that 15 pounds really effectively, too.

Is it possible to have too much water?
I don't feel puffy. The only time I've been sweating is when I walked to the subway station to go to the Jets game tonight. I was profusely sweating and felt like I was going to pass out, so I turned around and went home. My stomach feels bloated though. I know part of it is b/c of the surgery. My Dr. said it would be swollen for 3-4 weeks. I've been waking up around 4am to pee, but then I go right back to bed and sleep until 11. (I'm definitely not used to sleeping so late, but I'm enjoying my 4 weeks off from work.) That's probably because it was the Jets. You'd likely have felt much better had it been a Texans game. In all seriousness. You are not gonna stretch your sleeve with Water.

Cool. Whichever brand you order.......I highly suggest you go to their website and complete their "fit" or "stride" analysis. It really will help guide you in to the model that is best for you. Both Brooks and Hoka have really good versions of this, iMHO.

congestion after eating
Before you go fearing sudden developing allergies......take a deep breath and relax. Let's not hope for any type of newfound maladies. I'll take a stab that it's possibly something else entirely. If I eat too fast.....or too much.....then I'll get that way. It's gonna sound gross as hell.....but I'll get this nasal drip that slides down my throat. It's like a built in defense mechanism to get the food "lubricated" and through my sleeve. Grosses me out when it happens and is a sure 'nuff reminder to quit eating so quickly or so much. Not sure if you are experiencing the beginning of this new "super power", lol. It's a weird ride sometimes.

Liquid Diet Tips?
Tips ? Drink the shakes only. Skip on the cream of whatever soups and everything else. Drink tons of Water in between the shakes. Break away from food period. For me....it was similar to quitting smoking years back. By doing shakes only for the 14 day pre-op, I was able to avoid the kitchen, not cook, not be tempted and to get away from food in general. Same thing for the immediate post-op period. It was great. A clean break from food. Later.....post-op, I was able to return foods and it was without any guilt and has been this way ever since.

Newbie with another Q, long term low calorie diet effects?
While it's true that we are consuming low amounts of calories......keep in mind that our bodies are also burning our body fat for fuel at the same time. I can see this at work when I stay low carb and keep drinking lots of Water.

Feeling so nervous
I found that it's really no big deal. The recovery was really easy.....by far the easiest surgery that I've experienced.

Things that I'll be taking to hospital
Hells yes......so damn good to see you, Kinda ! Where have you bean ???? We need ya 'round here pard. People getting all butthurt because they are married to their own ways...more specifically their own OLD ways. Trying to get to the new way of living and you've done that and done so in a smoove way that say's....."I'm built for comfort....but I'm also capable of speed". We need some veteran leadership 'round here something fierce.... I just want to see folks make a good run at it. Can't do that if you are eating honey, syrups and salty snack foods while on your pre-op liquid liver shrink diet. It's beyond stupid....it's dangerous. If we can't call out dangerous acts then what's the point. It'd then degrade to be no better than a suicide hotline where they coach you how to load the bullets and cock the trigger, no ???? Quit getting butthurt people and start listening to the whats and whys our successful vets are trying to tell you...........it's for your own good. Damn. Just damn.

Cheese itz?
Sure.....we can all just get along. However.....we can also take it to a higher level by nudging some silly notions outa each other's noggins from time to time. I know for a damn fact that my trajectory has been improved a number of times by the vets here....who posted their opinions that were clearly against my grain and yet their wisdoms hit home. There is no substitute for experience. My opinion is that only a fool would shirk that wisdom, when provided. I've learned to listen carefully.....evaluate and then either incorporate it or call it rubbish and move on. I'm all about not reinventing the wheel. If a template for success is laid out in front of me......why in the hell do I want to venture down an alternate path ???????? I'm a hardheaded guy and don't listen well at times......but I've become a quick study when needed......in crunch times. I consider the health scares I've had the year leading up to my VSG such a "crunch time". I've listened carefully to those who've gone before me......and I am better for it. I've learned to accept life according to the words of a woman that I cherish......"Suck it up Buttercup" and move forward. Only a damn fool would denounce the collective wisdoms of successful patients who've made 2+ years and beyond and are rocking the results. Only a damn fool.................
