  1. Instinctive cooking is the way to go as far as I'm concerned. It took me a while to figure out what spices generally compliment things to my liking and I don't actually measure much at all.....unless I'm following a new recipe that intrigues me. Good that you have that appointment soon. Hopefully they will get you dialed in on the culprit. Hell....I'd almost look forward to another EGD. That was one of the most refreshing naps I've ever had....no kidding......then I came home and sleep all afternoon. I felt freaking great. My 12 month appointment is next month. Really looking forward to it. I want to see the bloodwork results. I hope I get the same nurse who took my blood on my pre-op appointments. Poor girl had to struggle to find a good vein. She'll have no problem now as I'm flush with them, lol.
  2. Threads like this are entirely too infrequent on here. Are we not a group of folks who should be raising our cups and cheering and laughing all the time ???? Hell yes we are. Look back at where we each were.....look at where we are now and where we are headed. Plenty of reason to be happy and Celebrate each day and laugh heartily at the insanely funny stuff that we witness. Life is good, folks. Let's celebrate together. Embrace that !!!!! Be warned.........I sometimes howl at the moon and I'll use up all your charcoal and tequila. The sails are down and the winds are a-blowing.....ship is underway.
  3. Nor was I trying to be rude. Many plans vary in food type it would seem. Fruit wasn't on mine for a long while. Bananas are certainly a food that I'll enjoy on occasion in the future once my weight loss is done and I'm on cruise control. I can see adding it to a Fiber rich Breakfast Cereal. To specifically answer your question....I really don't know. I ate the portion size that I was instructed to eat at the various checkups with my surgeon. If I eat too fast I'll get the full feeling and I don't like it. I can say this......in the early days there wasn't much restriction noted by me with the Protein shakes or yogurt. Once I advanced to chicken, steak and the like it was absolutely noticeable and has been to this very day. I pray it is there forever.
  4. I actually had more frequent and more severe heartburn PRIOR to my VSG. Now.....it only occurs if I have morning coffee after eating really spicy food and using big doses ibuprofen the day before. It doesn't occur every time this sequence of events unfolds....but that is always precursor to any current heartburn. I use a single Pepcid chewable and that almost always kills it. I've had to use a second one a couple hours later, but rarely. I had many pre-op reservations about reflux and heartburn.....but my surgeon talked through them with me and helped me make my decision. I'm very grateful for my sleeve.
  5. You just flung a craving !!! I'm gonna make a batch of broccoli balls with the ribs I'm smoking tomorrow. Gonna hit the grill store in a couple hours and get my rubs and some decent charcoal. I'll wait until I've sauced the ribs and then crack open the vents and get the temp to climb and thrown on the broccoli balls. The wood smoke will have been long gone by then. That's my plan in any event. The faux mashed potatoes is a stellar idea. I will be trying that soon. Grilled boneless chicken is a staple that grill weekly as I suspect it will be around your house, too.
  6. Sorry you are having stomach pain. Why do you think it's occurring ? The black bean chicken recipe looks killer. I'll bet that is tasty !!!
  7. LMAO !!!!!!!! Excellent post. You have me cracking up again this morning. Thank you. Laughing is good for the soul.
  8. Ah......you now have a new house dog on the way............packing my bags and hoping on a boat. Even though I can fit on a plane......I prefer sea travel. If dub is crazy enough to turn down a good time... My wife has a 4 year in psychology with an emphasis on abnormal sexualality. I swear that I'm her thesis paper! Sticks and stones may break my bones but whips and chains excite me! Dayum, son. Much respect. You guys get yer freak on.......and it's all in the name of science. What an angle. Hells yes. Genius.
  9. The low carb shakes took me a few days to get my body in ketosis. Once that hit.....I guess it started feeding on my body's fat supply......which I had an abundance of, lol, and still do. My hunger dropped way off. Then it simply became spacing out my 3-4 shakes at even time intervals.....drinking lots of Water in between........and I had coffee with Splenda when the urge to snack hit. The second week past much quicker and easier than the first.
  10. Sriracha is a righteous condiment if ever there was one. I have fond memories of my first month post op.....somewhere around the 3 week point I was making some powders?utm_source=BariatricPal&utm_medium=Affiliate&utm_campaign=CommentLink" target="_ad" data-id="1" >unjury chicken Soup.....and added a squirt of sriracha in there....and bamsucka ! It was a game changer. When it comes to Swiss cheese, though.....I dip it in either Tobasco brand Original or their Garlic version. Both are among my favorite hot sauces. Horreychit.........a cup of cheese a day would lock my system up tighter'n Fort freakin Knox. I'd never be able to have a BM. Damn......just damn. I love the hell outa some cheese. I almost can't control myself with some proper swiss dipped in hot sauce (yes....I'm freaky that way).......but I have to slow my roll......cheese and nuts are on my "limited amounts" list. In fact.....when I think about it.....damn near everything is on my "limited amounts" list......except for Water, coffee, air and exercise. Lol i dont eat a cup of cheese i eat 1/4 size meals 4 times a day with cheese topped on at least 2 of them but as far as bm thats probably why im the way i am i also have to add fiber to each of my meals and take collace eveyday per my doctor Sent from my SM-G935T using the BariatricPal App I'm such an idiot......as you may have suspected already.....now it's confirmed. I misread your post. My apologies. Good job being proactive with fiber and the colace.
  11. How did I overcome the jitters? Let's see........unfortunately this wasn't my first surgery. I've had a couple knee repairs, ankle repair and two prior patch jobs on abdominal hernias. All were the results of playing hard and having fun. The sleeve surgery, however, was a preemptive attempt to hopefully avoid or severely delay other pending surgeries....spine, knee replacements, etc. Thus, I was looking forward to the event and hoping for quick results. The sleeve surgery was a joke. It was a complete breeze.....very, very easy and the recovery effort was minimal. Spent some time catching up on great movies and tv shows and walking, walking and more walking. I have learned one thing that helps me a great deal with surgeries. It is something that I arrange with my surgeon each and every time. I highly recommend >>>>>> Ask them for a prescription for some pre-op anti-jitter meds like Valium for use on the night before and the morning of your surgery. It'll keep you calm as you march happily through those last hours just before your surgery. Enjoy the process.....there will be plenty of humorous moments if you look for them. My sleeve surgery is the absolute best decision I've made.....perhaps ever.
  12. Okay.......I'm slow.....but not Rain Man slow........ Middle is the best.......for each of us. It will be my hope that all your Annie Oakley cowgirl fantasies will come to fruition............and my missionary work will well timed and on point. I hope to soon be split in two......or at least half the man I once was. Handcuffs.....okay, I'll bite. Seriously not into whips and ropes........will cook & clean and do parlor tricks............I just need a comfy pillow and a place to stretch out on when the sun goes down and my werk is done.

  16. We'd actually make a great couple. Our grocery budget would be nil, you'd cook, I'd watch you clean, I'd be be bossy and you'd like it. SOLD! Werks for me. The only real piece of bidness we have to hash out is who's side of the bed is whose................. And........yes...........I can be motivated to clean like a mofo.

  18. I, too, eat full fat everything. The only thing I really watch is sugar and carbs. Full fat tastes better, keeps me full longer and is much more satisfying.
