    Today's WIN!

My sleeve win for yesterday occurred at my gym It's a 2 story gym with stairs and an elevator to access the upper deck where most of the cardio gear is. Normally I use the gear on the first floor. Knees were shot decadess ago with surgeries from football injuries. Gaining weight every year sure didn't help. Further injuries from hobbies finished them off. Anyway it was dead downstairs....zombie land. I could hear people shouting in unison upstairs.....saw them running laps on the indoor track and their were some classes going on. I took the stairs and found a treadmill with a great vantage point for the next hour or so. Being surrounded by motivated folks is always a good thing. Had that post treadmill weirdness pumping through my body afterwards that made the stairs a dicey endeavor afterwords. Did that old man stair decline. Heading back there in a minute, too.....back upstairs.
  3. Outstanding !!!!! Winning bigtime. 3 years out and rocking it.

    Husband not supportive

You say you've needed it for years and now have the insurance support in place to proceed. It would be nice to have his support and understanding....but you have to do what's best for you. It is your health you are concerned about. In my humble opinion this is the overriding factor. You have to go with what is best for you. Hopefully at some point this will register with him. A spouse that doesn't do everything in their power to ensure their family member's safety is seriously negligent. The good news for them is that they usually get a second chance to change with their next husband/wife and the next........... He's a warped bastard if that's the way he kids and jokes. A lot of guys are stuck in a rut....and want their wives/girlfriends to share that rut. They fear being left in their low place alone.
  5. CowgirlJane nailed it......or at least what I'm sticking with. Sure there are stalls, but if you are living in a calorie deficit and doing things to increase your metabolism then weight loss will happen. What is eating right and daily exercise for you ?
  6. iPhone & remote battery charger to avoid having to plug it into wall outlet. An extra pillow to press & hold over you abdomen during the ride home. Extra pillows to prop up in bed at home with. That or sleep in a recliner the first few days. Sleeve was fine with anything....hernia repair was the only pain. I don't took several boxes of gas-x strips after reading about them here. Never needed them at all. Zero gas pains experienced. Slip on tennis shoes. New Balance makes a couple versions that you simply step into. Extremely comfortable and you'll love them around the house. Your own loose fitting gym clothes. I felt like a sick person wearing that stupid hospital gown. Felt like a dude finding his stride once I changed into my gear. Have you postop pain med prescription filled beforehand, too
  7. You will see great results from adhering to the liquid diet as you are starting to see these first 7 days. You'll find your stride in it and be a trooper. Most all of us have been through it and fully understand where you are. It gets much easier !!!!

Post sleeve comfort foods -roll call!

Chili guacamole thin salsa & Quest chips
  9. Coffe, water, diet lemonade and tea are what mostly drink.
  10. So true !!! You are doing great......gut check time is what the pre-op diet should be called. LOL. It's the "how bad do I really want to do this thing" period. I can say that it was the toughest part for me. Everything that came later was much easier to deal with. Sure there are periods when my scale readings will just hang up for a few days....two weeks or more at a time.....but then start dropping again. I tend to get antsy during these times. You are doing great.....stay the course and know that you'll be back to a normal....be it a new normal....in just a few weeks. By the beginning of my second month post-op it just seemed like everything fell into place. The abdominal hernia that was repaired during the sleeve surgery started feeling normal and I was able to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It's been a cakewalk ever since. Speaking of walking......maybe you can go out for walks during the normal times those other folks are cooking & eating.
  11. Loose fitting gym pants and t-shirts for a while.

    Real Food!

Do not push it hard at all is my best advice.......certainly at only 3 weeks. That's mighty early. The key for me is to eat with my eyes first.......portion out the amount that looks appropriate for my stage. Eat that much and that much only. If I eat more.......to the point of actually being full.........then I will be miserable for an hour afterwards. It isn't a feeling I enjoy so it makes it easy to portion out the food before I take the first bite.

    Side Dish Help

Broccoli (steamed) is a frequent one for me. It's almost always the side I order if I'm out at a restaurant. Greens like collards are a favorite, too. Occasionally I'll have refried Beans or other types of beans. I'm all about the entree, though......the meat.
  15. Still have some more work to do later on this evening. Gonna push it over 10K and call it good. Met my Protein goals and stayed under 25 grams of carbs today.

    Alcohol- beware.

@@bellabloom that was a wild experience. Very sorry you were injured. Dang. I believe you make a great point and there have been some other good ones raised in this thread. We really do have to proceed with caution....heads on swivels, indeed. Lots of pitfalls out there. You'll get things sorted out and I respect the move you are making. Always wise to remain in control of such things. Have a glass of chardonnay and let your worries drift away............ Just kidding.....was accused of being a grump earlier today. Can't help it....some stupid shyt pissed me off and replied honestly...no filter. Was therapeutic for me.

    Lets talk scales....

Anyone tried the Fitbit scale ????
  18. Dub

    Drinking

I waited 3 months and proceeded with care. 1-2 drinks is my limit and only on days where I've met my fitbit goals. I typically use high grade vodka and & low calorie mixer.
  19. Heck yeah , man. You are killing it. You are off to a mighty fast start, too. Well done. I take pics with my iPhone and then pull them into the imgur app and then copy & paste the URL links to my posts.
  20. Taken on October 12, 2015.......the morning before my surgery. Umbilical hernia felt like it was about to freaking explode. Surgeon repaired it during f the sleeve surgery. So grateful for that. 6xl t-shirt and 4xl pants in the pic. Taken this morning. 2xlt jacket that I've had for ages....just couldn't wear it. It was my "goal jacket" to fit into for Winter of 2017.......had no idea I'd be able to wear it now. More gratitude. EDIT: I'd put the wrong date in the above pic. It is corrected now....as in 10/19/16.
  21. Enjoy yourself. You have every right to enjoy every aspect of the trip.

    Lets talk scales....

I bought this one from this seller: http://www.oldwillknottscales.com/my-weigh-xl550.html Zero complaints.
  23. Relax. Enjoying the portion of my work schedule where I can relax over a few days off. Went out to Target this morning and bought a Croc-Pot to replace a broken one. Will get the stuff for a pot of chili tomorrow. Great Protein source. Heading to the gym in a few to get my daily dose of killer tunes, sweat and motivation from the folks doing work around me. After that......maybe gonna see Concussion or Hateful 8. Day of leisure.......about what my Cavaliers did last night.....played a game of leisure and got their butts stomped in an embarrassing way.
  24. First pair was taken on Oct 12, the day before my sleeve surgery. This pic was taken yesterday morning.
  25. I'll give you an example. I was up early this morning....coffee and the news. I cooked Breakfast for the family. I had some eggs and a small piece of the breakfast ham. They had biscuits, too. After all was said an done there was one biscuit leftover. I could have had it....but gave it to the dogs instead. ( I know....bad pet owner feeding them that "crap") That single biscuit wouldn't' have wrecked my plan for the day.......but an hour later I'd most like have desires for more junk...a handful of chips 'n dip or whatever. In other words it could have easily led to eating like crap today.....still under calorie goal, but nowhere near my Protein goal. The fridge and cabinets are filled with Cookies, Doritos and other such stuff. It doesn't even register anymore. That's "their" food. I reach up to the top shelf for "my" food.....packs of tuna, protein powders and etc.
