    1 yr post op

You look amazing. I was sleeved on 8/17/15. I went down to 153 at one year post op. My original weight was 227 before I began my journey. Since my 153 weight back in august 2016 I have put on about 30 pounds. I walk 5 miles in the morning after breakfast and five miles after lunch. I don't understand what I am doing wrong. I'm finding myself going up one size in jeans now. I stay away from carbs. I eat plenty of protein. And sometimes I just have a protein shake to replace a meal. I hope I can get back down to my weight of 153 again. It's a struggle. Thank you for the encouragement. Your pics def remind me to keep on and don't give up. Thank you for sharing.
  2. Yesterday I had my one year post op appointment. I gained six pounds since my six month post op visit. My surgeon was great about it. He told me what to do to jump back into the game and continue losing weight. I will begin that on Monday. It's a bit hectic with guests over this weekend. He told me I look amazing. I have lost 77 pounds already since my journey began. I will hit this full force. I want to lose another 40 pounds. I know I got this. Thank you so much for all the support from this group. Thank you so very much amesleeved

    Pant sizes?

Hi everyone. I started at a size 15. After four months post op I was wearing a size 5. I went from a 2x in tshirts to a size medium. Now I'm 9 months post op. The weight loss has fluctuated and stalled at times. I started my weight at 227. I'm now 159. Hopefully I can go down a bit more. I walk six miles a day. Everyday. Hope this helps. I had the vsg on August 17th 2015.
  5. I would stick with just plain Medicare and Medicaid. When you chose those other plans usually you are not covered for certain Drs or services. I left mine as just plain Medicare with Medicaid. I live in ulster county but all my Drs are in Sullivan and Orange County. My dr was dr Seth Judd

You know you lost weight when

When you can use a normal size towel instead of a bath sheet.

You know you lost weight when

I had surgery four months ago. I went from a size 15/16 in jeans to a size 5/6 in jeans. I have not been this size since high school. I literally cried in the fitting room. My husband had to keep going to the jeans aisle to get a smaller size. After four trips it was finally right at a size 5 jeans. I'm so happy for all the hard work is paying off. I walk six miles a day and take all of my supplements and eat right. Thank you for the tool I was given on August 17th 2015. Thank you to my family for all of the support. My doc has not let me down and I won't let him down. Thank you to dr Seth Judd of ORMC.
  9. Hi can you tell me which strong hair vitamins your doc gave you and what serum? I only use biotin 2500 much per day. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

You know you lost weight when

When your pants no longer fit you and you have to rummage through the closet looking for old jeans so that you have something to wear that day and say to yourself that you have to go shopping on the weekend for clothes. Also when your hubby hugs you so tight all night long and won't let you leave the bed in the morning. Lol. I guess I'm not used to that attention. But it's a nice feeling.

    Finally Onederland!

Yes. It was one of the amazing days for me. It has been 15 years since I was in the 100's. Now I'm 186. Today is my one month surgery anniversary. I see my surgeon tomorrow.

    Protein powders

Vitamin world. I always use 40 percent coupons. And they are always buy one get one half off. Great deal. They even sell the quest bars there.

    Multivitamin

I use centrum chewables. They are $9.96 in Walmart. But I always buy them with a $4.00 coupon. Makes it $5.96. When ever I get the coupon I stack up on extra bottles. Walmart is pretty good for vitamins.

    Fitbit

I use an iPhone 6 Plus. And there is a health app in the phone. So there was no need to buy the Fitbit for me. The health app measures how far I walk and stairs climbed. My protein intake and all sorts of things. Works for me. My phone is always on me. Hope this helps. Thanks
  17. Hi Michelle I had my surgery August 17th. Today is my one month surgery anniversary. My highest weight was 227. My weight on surgery date was 199. I now weigh 186. I walk six miles a day. I'm eating all the right foods. I hope I can lose much more. I would love to zip through the next eleven months to see how much I lose. So far, my total weight loss is 41 lbs. I feel more better and stronger and I also feel like I've been given a new life. My kids are in college now and I'm taking care of me. I can be selfish now. Hope to hear how others are doing who had surgery on August 17th or later. Thanks.

    Does everyone's hair fall out?

I use the sublingual version. It's 2500 mcg. I started before surgery and continued after surgery

    Does everyone's hair fall out?

My dr told me to just make sure to eat enough protein and that should not happen to me. I also told my dr that I decided to use biotin 2500 mcg once a day. He had no problem with that. Biotin is for hair skin and nails.

    2+ weeks post op

Yes. Corn flakes or any food is a no no the day before surgery. It should be clear liquids only. Make sure you tell your surgeon before the procedure

    What's your exercise routine

I started walking in the hospital. An hour after surgery. I walk three times a day. One mile each time. Sometimes I go for a fourth walk if I feel up to it in the evening.

    Help! Bills

Hi Shellyd67. Just a word of advice. Don't forget to file that big bill with your income taxes. Also, sometimes if you go to financial assistance in the billing dept, they can cut it down to half off or better. Worth looking into. Hope this info helps you out.
