what do you take for arthritis pain?
padremama replied to Debbie623's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Surgeon gave me prescription for Tramadol but my regular doctor thinks I can exist on tylenol. I can hardly get out of bed in the morning. Once I start moving it gets better but sure would like my aleve back. -

Don't be scared. I woke up and thought I had completely screwed up my life. Really screwed up my life. As soon as they got my pain managed and I could get up to walk I was fine and have been ever since. Every day I feel better about the decision I have made. Sleeved May 20th and doing the usual stalls, but coming to this site every day and seeing that everything I'm experiencing is normal has been a life saver. You have started one of the best forums I have seen yet, so you will be able to vocalize all you are to go through. Good Luck!! -

I won't miss not getting together with old friends because you are uncomfortable with how you look. Or ordering something that you don't really want at a restaurant to avoid critical looks. Do ya think it's anything to do with the Month of May? Just kidding, but we sure do all seem to be doing the same thing. Stalling!! But I can walk better and people are noticing so it is an improvement.

Asking for the extension for seat belt on airplanes. And having to sit in aisle seat on airplanes or busses. Would really enjoy being able to look out the window again. And hopefully being able to stand on a step stool or ladder again. That may be other issues of mine though, lol. -

OMG, these are so great!! What a great read with my morning coffee. Besides all of those is turning over in bed. That has been a major one on my weight loss journey. So afraid my son would one day have to be the one helping me turn. -
Shame in sharing WLS with friends/family?

I feel the same way Shamroxx, if I can help anyone else on their weight loss journey, I will. If I don't tell people they are going to think I've been sick, which has happened in the past. I've gotten a couple of bad comments but most people are very supportive. But either way it's a matter of choice if you choose to tell others or not. -
I'm 4 1/2 weeks out and I'm doing great

I can't do plain water right now either, but buy either propel or other flavored waters or add flavorings. Be sure you don't buy sparkling water. Just another word for carbonated. I did drink it though before I realized it and had no problem. I also buy vanilla or strawberry shakes. Just can't do choc -
I find I really don't want to eat out as much. Now it seems like such a waste of money when I see how cheap I eat at home. I have always loved to go out to eat and it's so strange to feel this way. I went and picked up some food to go at a japanese restaurant the other day and felt the same way. So expensive for the amount I can eat. Even if it is split up in more meals.

How to be Successful?
padremama replied to MarceMonster's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Success Stories
I sleeved March 20th and went into stall after 2 weeks. Was like you and knew I was doing something wrong. Slowly i'm starting to drop weight again. I think reading the comments on this site have helped me more than anything because All of the May sleevers are at the same place I am at. -
sleeved May 20th. Six weeks and down 22 pounds. Eating pretty much any thing I want. Did try wine, yuck, yuck, yuck. Tastes so bad.

Suggest Unflavored Protein Powder Source
padremama replied to Debbie623's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I like EAS shakes the best from Walmart. They don't have as high of protein though so I still buy Premier also. -
I can't believe we are all going through same thing. It's the only thing saving my sanity!. I am talking about the dreaded stall after 2 or 3 weeks. I get up and weigh and know that there is something wrong, then I come out and in my inbox is someone else in the exact circumstance. Thanks for all reporting in so that I'm not alone.

3 weeks after I was cut back on diabetes, high blood pressure and cholesterol. Next visit will probably be taken off completely.

Oh so encouraging that I could be where you are in a few months. I started at 237, am looking forward to those new bra sizes. Down 20 pounds and already getting positive comments. Still having trouble with Water and being nauseous.

Two Weeks Post Op Weight Loss
padremama replied to tonjadburks's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had lost 15 lbs at 2 weeks and then went on stall. Today at 20 pounds and I was sleeved on May 20. So you are doing fine. -
I know that you all say to ask your nut, but I was given a very limited amount of info from mine. I even asked if there was anything else she could give me. I have found most of my info on this site and greatly appreciate it. I found for the puree stage that refried Beans watered down were my favorite. Also avocados and sweet potatoes with powdered Protein and plain greek yogurt mixed in. Haven't wanted to puree meats yet.

I'm in Oceanside. Been in North County since 1971

Quest was recommended to me.

I can't wait for that. Keep telling friends that pretty soon I can enjoy an evening out. Been to a couple of parties and did fine. I was afraid to try onions, now I will.

I have not tried any chicken or tuna. Tried beef in spaghetti sauce and really didn't like it. My favorites that go down easy are: Refried Beans watered down. Melted cheese on them sometimes feels like its stuck. Avocado or sweet potatoes with Protein powder and plain yogurt mixed in. Make sure sweet potatoes are not stringy. And the protein pancake I tried today was really good and no problems.

Sharing a recipe I also shared on May sleevers, I made a pancake today with 2 tbs unflavored Quest Protein mix, 1 egg and about 1 tbs of milk to make desired consistency. Also added some stevia and cinnamon. I found it very satisfying with sugar free syrup. Endless possibilities on expanding recipe. Read it in and older post.

I feel weak and nauseous but figured that was normal for the first month. It seems my Vitamins make me nauseous no matter how I try to hide them. And plain Water, yuck. I made a Protein pancake today with 2 tbs Quest nonflavored protein mix, 1 egg and about 1tbs of milk to make it right consistency. I added a little stevia and cinnamon. Was very satisfying. And endless possibilities of add ons.
