  1. That's so cute, Pix. Kids keep things so real. My sons are 27 and 25 and they still protect their momma. Hang in there and keep making good food choices.
  2. The first place I noticed my weight coming off was my face, shoulders and boobs. I am shaped like an apple (my name fits my shape). Have always had skinny, shapely long legs so I would have to say they are my favorite body part. Least favorite is waistline and back. It's the shape God gave me so I dress to cover my problem spot and accentuate my legs.
  3. Our surgeon brought the PS subject up in our lap band informational seminar. He stated that we should not even consider it for one year after goal. I know that I will want PS. I have lost 50lbs with 50lbs to go. My lower stomach is already hanging more than it did and I am having trouble with rashes even though I shower 2x daily. Guess I should start documenting that with my reg. dr.
  4. Congratulations to you also. Such a relief to finally be approved, isn''t it? Sounds like you started the process about the same time that I did. I got my surgery date today. June 17. I am soooooo ready!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Thanks, CathyChatts for putting me in with the Junes group. Nice to be able to visit with people in the same boat. Support from others means so much
  6. Thanks, Susan. Been feeling like I've been hanging on the edge the last few months. So happy just to get the approval and get on with this. Thanks for the encouragement.
  7. Cathychatts...please add me in for June 17. Thanks!
  8. Pix...I think she was talking to Jaylow who had posted earlier saying that she had gained after surgery. Happy to hear you are on the mend. I got my date today. June 17. Cannot wait to get on the road. Hope your recovery is not giving you too much trouble.
  9. Janet, sorry to hear about your DIL. Hope she has a speedy recovery. An incident like that can make a person feel terribly violated for quite some time. Happy to hear that you enjoyed your concert in Laughlin. Always fun to travel!
  10. Just thought I would let my fifties know that I am scheduled for surgery. I have a date of June 17. I was approved by BCBS on May 8. I feel as if a weight has been lifted. I was able to lose 50lbs during my six mo. diet and hoping that I can continue to lose. I do have at least 50lbs more to lose. I just want to get this show on the road and get used to being banded. I am afraid of how the band will adjust to my body. Other than that, I do not worry about the surgery. I just want my band to fit in and live in me without complications. I have not participated on the fifties site a lot but I do appreciate the support I have received from you guys.
  11. All I know is that my plan required the six month medically supervised weight loss program. I would give your provider a call and just ask what they require. I was a little upset to know that I had to wait that long but now am so happy that I had those months to prepare myself. I cut out anything unhealthy and tried my best to eat like a banded person during that period of time.
  12. Sorry to hear of your complications, BBK. Take care and hope things turn around for you soon.
  13. Congrats to all of you who just got approval and hope you all have an easy time adjusting. I worried so much about it cuz I was just barely at 40BMI. It only took 3-4 days for BCBS to approve. I feel like a weight has been lifted. I just put a request into my surgeon's office to have surgery the end of June. As soon as I find out the date, I can line up my preop visit with surgeon, preop exam with my regular doc and a visit with Anesthesia. My surgeon also requires a 10 day preop diet. 1 Protein shake per day and Clear liquids. I'm excited but also scared about the HUGE life change. I took off weight during my six month diet so I am thinking that the adjustments that I have made over that time period will help me adapt to lapband life.
  14. I have a $2,000 deductible with a small co-pay. Started this process on Oct. 2 with seminar and had to do the 6 month supervised diet. I am glad I have had the time to process all of this but now am ready to get things rolling:rolleyes2::biggrin:
  15. Hey guys. Just got my approval letter from BCBS. Thinking of scheduling my surgery end of June or mid-July. Cannot wait to get this show on the road! Thanks to everyone for the support and a thanks in advance for future support. I am sure to have questions from time to time.
  16. Awwwww, what a nice mamma! I have two children and I would do ANYTHING for them b/4 myself. Just give it all a few weeks and a few talks with your mamma and then make your decision. Good luck
  17. Kat. Wonderful news for you. It's all of you breaking ground b/4 us that make our future PS not seem so overwhelming. So many of my PS questions have been answered on this forum without even asking. I, too, have will have to have muscle repair and have widening scar tissue from a few other previous surgeries. I am hoping that ins. will take care of some of it. I am very tired of the rash under my panni and boobs and it hasn't even been past the mid-60's here yet. I cannot imagine what summer will bring. Please keep us up to date on your progress. I so appreciate everyone's stories and photos of their PS. Pretty brave to display hanging tummies for the world to see but the after photos are so amazing. Good luck to you, Kat. You've come a long way and deserve that last step in your journey.
  18. Good for you Janet! Way to go!
  19. Green...I think it's pretty cool also that your prognosis is positive. I am sure this has been a life changing experience for you and happy to see your posts once in awhile.
  20. Good exercise but it should last at least 45 minutes longer to get the benefit of it!!!!!!!!!!!
  21. So you have the routine down by now. I am sure it has become just part of your life (with the added worry). We all hope that our soldiers get credit for what they do for our country but I just want to let you know that I truly admire you wives and mothers that hold it all together while they are away.
  22. I would take the same stand, Pix. I have two sons in the military. We live in a rural, VERY small community. 153 of our boys were in Iraq (one of my sons included) for a year. 150 came back. If one of our local stores refused to set up a stand to benefit a vet organization, I would not patronize that place of business. In fact, if they did not cater to Girl Scouts, church groups, etc., I would frown upon that also. The time is getting closer to having your DH home. I say a little prayer every time I see a post of yours which reminds me of the fact that he is over there. A word of advice...please take advantage of the reintragation programs that are offered. They are such a help. God Bless you and your family.
  23. Good luck, BBK. You will look and feel so much better. My son's significant other had a reduction at the age of 24. She says it is the best thing she has ever done for herself. Wishing you sleep tonight, blessings and a speedy recovery.
  24. If you look under a posters name way at the bottom of a post you will find a snowflake looking thingy beside the exclamation sign. Click on that and it will come up with a place to post a rep
  25. Cerrin, want to share you plan??????????
