    Sugar free or Sugar substitutes

It is a lifestyle change so I think it is important to find quality replacements so long term you never feel deprived. If you feel deprived then it feels like a diet and that makes you want to cheat. If I want chocolate on my period I get Lily's which is sweetened with Stevia. If I want a quick something to grab I have protein bars or eatmeguiltfree brownies. Sometimes I have halo top ice cream. The kind and type of substitute sweetener you use depends on what you are making and the desired results. I always have good luck with recipes from here. https://www.ibreatheimhungry.com/ Good luck @PER

    Honest question: new to posting

If you look at the top on the app, you can see where the thread is in the forums. It is not all that easy and you have to remember each time. Like you can see RNY posts on the app, when you won't see them on forums.

    Help with this forum

Are you on a PPI? Also band to sleevers don't always have the same post-op experience as first time WLS sleevers. 25 pounds in a month is a lot of weight. I am not sure if only should ever go in front of a 25 pound one month loss... If you have a good surgeon and heal well, eating shouldn't be an issue. Also your ability to eat things depends on what you are eating. 4 ounces of yogurt is going to be easy to eat, 4 ounces of steak, probably not.
  4. I'never never heard of it. Sounds like a nightmare. The sleeve is tight enough as is, and it hard enough with enough pressure just eating normal portions. Adding a ring seems like adding lapband issues to a sleeve.

Am I the only one who gets annoyed by the question Why?

I never told people, so I never had to hear their dumb ass questions. I don't believe in borrowing trouble and talking about weight loss surgery to an in general ignorant and uneducated population is just inviting trouble.
  6. I was a 16 around 250. I'm not sure how long you have been heavy but the longer you have been heavy the more muscle you have. Some of it is vanity sizing and some it is muscle. I had some clothes left from college, so it isn't all vanity sizing. I was definitely smaller physically, 50 pounds heavier than I was in college. If you don't want to spend a lot, Old Navy, Gap are good places to start. Old Navy regular sizes are cut large and I think they go to 18, I know they have 16s. Department stores are nice also. Macy's, JCPenney My advice is to find some place that has plus sizes and regular sizes. There was a time period I wore both. Honestly that is the most fun, you can shop EVERYWHERE. Find a place that has both makes the transition easier because you are not in entirely unfamiliar territory, you are just switching Depts. This is why Department stores are nicer places to shop than womens specialty stores, you can just transition departments instead of looking for an entirely new place to shop. Macy's and Penney's has really good sales, so you can find nice items on clearance and coupons etc. If you have time, go on a week day when the sales people are bored and no one is around and have them help you. They love helping people with a weight loss story in my experience. If not a week day then Sunday afternoon. If you can, just stop buying pants. You are to the point that is you are still losing, pants in this range are going to show weight loss fast, even if you do no feel like you are losing much or fast. Get dresses and skirts, buy tight to go under them if you are afraid of being cold. If you get pants, you might be saggy in the butt and upper thighs every 2 weeks. Pants are the most unforgiving when it comes to weight loss. Not sure about your work environment but learn to layer. Get a nice blazer, that is almost too small so it lasts a little bit, get a lot of tight shells, so they last longer or thin fitted tops, they will be loose eventually. Find some belts so you can belt dresses and make them last longer. Buy your sweaters a size smaller, so you can wear them all winter. Only buy things you are going to wear within the next 2 to 3 weeks. Don't try to shop ahead because you see a deal. Once you are in these lower sizes, a few pounds means a size change. If you buy 14s thinking you will be wearing them all winter or something you are going to be wasting money. You will probably be a 12 by Thanksgiving, 20 pounds should get you there.

Getting out of the dreaded Friend Zone

You are probably going to find that a lot of people you are friends with now, you won't be at a normal or close to normal weight. You might not change but how people view you will.

    Keto diet

@dreamingsmall I cannot answer that for you. I fast 16 hours and eat in an 8 hour window. I need at least 8 hours to meet my protein goals. There are lots of different ways to fast. You have to find one that works with your health and lifestyle.

    Working out and weightloss

Exercise increases your appetite. That is why I don't do it.
  12. Your Dr sounds like an ass. Take over the counter medicine, double the over the counter amount is usually the script amount. There is no reason to suffer. What a quack. That really makes me angry. He is just letting your body damage itself when it is easily preventable. @jordoe1 I took my meds. It resolved. I have occasional issues that are caused by myself. Right now I am battling with GERD but it is from an iron supplement I was taking, I am hoping it gets better soon. I never had GERD pre-op and most of it post-op with the except of the early months has been brought on by my own actions. So to answer your question, it should resolve by 6 months usually.

    Realistic Weight Loss

There is a lot of reasons for this, what @Berry78 said is correct but also... Being obese for a long period time changes your body. Your body has to compensate for carrying the extra weight, your bones get denser (mine are 3x denser than the average person my age, don't worry they still don't weigh much) and you have more muscle mass. Knowledgeable Drs understand this. You can have a low body fat and be obese on the BMI chart, just because of muscle mass. I'm 5'6 and I weigh in the mid 180s. I look like I weigh about 20 pounds less. This is because of a lot of loose skin and a lot of muscle mass. I want to lose another 20 pounds but honestly I don't really need to, physically I am small enough. Losing more weight would just be for a healthy BMI//insurance purposes. The Dr is giving you a realistic goal. All the goals I got from calculators etc were in 220 range. If I was lazy or ate the way most WLS post-op plans suggest I would have never got past 250. I got to the weight I achieved by eating a way that worked for me and by being super strict with myself to start with. 200 is realistic, 135 is obtainable if you want to. No Dr is going to tell you that though, because WLS won't get you to 135, only you can. WLS will probably get you to 200, maybe 185, the rest you are going to have to grind out yourself.

Appetite suddenly gone almost 3months out.

I never had hunger the first year. However there are just hungry days and not hungry days. It is easy to forget to eat. No 300 calories isn't okay and you should remember to eat. The one thing I liked about tracking my food was my app reminded me to eat.

Medical Weight loss req. 1st pre-op

Especially when a lot of people have issues with fake protein products and don't lose weight on them. All reputable Drs want you eating real food and not processed foods.

Medical Weight loss req. 1st pre-op

I would switch programs. It sounds like some BS. They know people have issues with food and losing weight. They put you in this program, probably hoping you fail, then they string you along buying their food with surgery as a carrot on the stick at the end. I would never choose one of these programs that are selling you food and tell you that you have to lose X to qualify for surgery. They just milk people for money.

Quest Chips. Salt and Vinegar are delicious. They are protein, and almost no carbs.

Medical Weight loss req. 1st pre-op

Are you only allowed to eat some food they sell you? 10% of your body weight in 6 weeks is nuts.

    Albumin and protein low

@tobiganymore Find a different Dr. You shouldn't be guessing on what to do, your DR should be clearly telling you what to do to solve the problem. Get a better one.

6MO. POST OP AND I THINK I'M DONE!!!!!

@ThickGirl5683 You might be surprised. If you keep eating the same or even up your calories a tiny bit you will probably lose a little bit more. Every time I thought I was done, I kept losing. A stall or a long plateau, even of a month, doesn't mean you are done. Congrats on your success!

What is a non-food activity your REALLY looking forward to?

Right now I am living my dream of designer and luxury brand clothing. I did VS last year when I was still losing, they are good for panties but the bras are not the best. I love the workout clothes, they are really good and priced fairly. VS also has great sales. I wear a 34G so I have to go high end to find that. I still buy some of their bras that I just use to be sexy not to function. Last year I purchased a lot of fast fashion. This year I am treating myself to the brands that I want and spending the money to rebuild my wardrobe. Cashmere sweaters, designer dresses (the cut is really worth it), and more expensive jeans. Everything I am buying now, even if I lose more, since they are high quality well known brands with good construction, I can either resale, or I can have tailored if I really love it. I am enjoying using personal shoppers. Now I just need the temp to drop so I can enjoy my fall wardrobe.

Update your Profile for better Results?

Most of the people that post now use the App and that information doesn't even show. They aren't updating it or using it, because they don't see it.

Are you good at understanding insurance?

The best way for you to have your surgery covered at this point would be a Dr documenting that your band has slipped.

Are you good at understanding insurance?

@breprih I don't think you would qualify by reading it unless your Dr carefully words your letter with some sort of band technical failure. You originally lost all your excess weight, down to a 24/25 BMI. That is a weight loss success story That exceeds the 50% of excess weight. Your regain is more than 2 years post-op. After over 2 years you have to qualify using the same criteria as the inital criteria, so you need a 35 to 39 BMI with a co-morbidity.
