Been out of surgery 6 hours. Walked 16 Laps so far. Feeling great. Very little pain. Just like someone punched me in my stomach

Today is the day for me. On my way to the hospital right now (I'm not driving). Surgery soon. I'm too worn down from not eating or drinking to be nervous.

    July Sleever

Today is my day. I do not have to be at the hospital until later in the morning. I expected to wake up dying of thirst since I usually drink 16-24oz of Water as soon as I wake but so far today I am good. I'm not excited or nervous right now, just kind of numb. Slow starving over a 10 day period will do that

    Is it rude?!

There is a website, realself.com and there tons of people that had platics post WLS. You can see graphic pics and see Dr reviews and pricing

Have you tried infusing your Water at all? Lemon or cucumber or both? That can give it a little flavor without anything fake. Just add lemon and/or cucumber slices to a your water at night let it sit in the fridge, then you have something crisp and delicious to sip on all day the next day.

    Protein Shake Questions

Fruit is full of sugar and you can't have that much sugar on a pre-op diet. So adding collagen etc to a fruit smoothie is out.

Calling All Sleevers with a SIPS

I just read about SIPS in the past week or so. I wish I could have it, but it seems like it might be some time before it is wildly available and I can't wait any longer. In a few years if I am not where I need to be, maybe a revision to SIPS will be possible.

    July Sleevers!

I tried the unjury samples. They are good but I instead purchased http://www.vitacost.com/allmax-nutrition-isonatural-whey-protein-isolate-unflavored-2-lbs-1 because I can buy it locally and Unjury shipping/delivery is too slow.

    July sleevers?

You don't have information from your doctor? I have a book and a paper packet and the nutritionist also told me what to have. If you are in doubt contact the office. If you need advice on types of protein, plenty of people can help with suggestions.

I have my surgery time. I don't report to the hospital until afternoon. So I have to go all day with no water in 90+ degree heat...

Protein Shakes - milk or water?

I always use Water. Cow milk is gross, it is for baby cows not humans. Just remember you don't have to do Protein shakes, you can use unflavored protein in broth. If you can get a good bone broth you are really getting in extra protein.

    Protein Shake Questions

Get an unflavored whey protein and add it to broth.

    July sleevers?

Drinking sweet stuff all day is really gross. What I do like is broth alone, and broth with unflavored protein powder. I find that far more satisfying. I have the Unjury unflavored powder and the IsoNatural unflavored Whey. http://www.vitacost.com/allmax-nutrition-isonatural-whey-protein-isolate-unflavored-2-lbs-1 the IsoNatural foams up a little more than the unjury, but it also blends better. I can buy the IsoNatural locally so I think I will use it ovevr Unjury. Unjury also makes a chicken soup, but the sodium content is very high. You can get the same effect with broth and unflavored protein with less sodium. I also have Syntrax Nectar Cappucino and watermelon flavored protein drink with BCAAs for muscle retention. I drink broth and water in between shakes to keep hunger at bay.

@@LaBxChula My date is the 15th and I am starting to freak out too. I am second guessing everything and worrying about complications. Hopefully I can calm down today.

    I'm still pre op however

I have been taking collagen for a few months. The skin on my face is dramatically improved, dark circles under eyes almost gone, pores almost invisible and bat wings on my arms are tighter. Check the reviews on makeupalley for Neocell collagen+c. The pills are too big post surgery but there is a powder version

    I'm still pre op however

There are things you can do to help minimize it. Drink lots of Water, every single day. Take Collagen, powder or pills. Keep your skin well hydrated, use a body oil on moist skin and follow it up with a lotion or a cream. Do body chemical peels to make your skin turn over faster. Dry skin brushing. Wear foundation garments all day everyday. A high waist thigh shaper is perfect. There are lots of things you can do for you skin, that will make it not as bad, but if you are going to have loose skin, you are going to have it. If you start early on good skin maintenance (which everyone should be doing anyway) it helps. I have never seen good advice for skin on any weight loss forums, people say you can't avoid it and they focus only on losing weight. Check stripper forums (they have all kinds of advice for snapping back and maintaining), or skin specific forums and you will finds all kinds of things.

    PCP rant!

Doctors are service workers. They are providing a service in exchange for funds. They work for you. Make them treat you with respect. Switch. This doctor doesn't deserve your business. Once you have a new Doctor, go online and leave a rating for this one so someone else doesn't suffer.
  22. If you have the free time to take appointments whenever offered, less than a month. I had all my pre-op done in around 6 weeks and the only reason it took that long was memorial day and vacations. It could have probably been done in 2-3 weeks easily. It took 5 weeks from first meeting with the Dr to insurance approval, and within 8 weeks total to being sleeved. I didn't have any obstacles or roadblocks in the process. It all went very smoothly.
  23. 401K is a great option, you pay yourself back, so you aren't losing much and the interest rate is better than anything else you are going to get.

    July Sleever

My unjury chicken and other samples showed up. I wish I looked at the nutritional facts before purchasing, the sodium is 770 for the Chicken! So instead of this being the staple I was hoping for, it is going to have to be the occasional treat. I am going to try it tomorrow. It looks like I will be ordering the unflavored to add to broth. @@jjbowersock how are you taking your meds with Jello?

1.5 years out, only 40% loss, Devastated

Yes supposedly too much will, but I am not sure how much because it never has for me in years of doing keto off and on.I think you have to be just consuming way too many calories period. I don't think that people can consume the fats after WLS in the way that normal people can. I just see a lot of people saying they aren't losing (not just in this thread) and their carbs are high, high in a way that can't be coming from veggies and that is about the only place you should be getting carbs from, veggies. The meal plans they suggest after surgery are not keto, not really. I went to my nutrition class yesterday and they said toast at 6 weeks. They also have people on grits and cream of wheat etc 2-3 weeks out. I know for a fact I can't lose eating carbs like that, even in tiny amounts. I was just reading about the ketosis diet, and they say too much protein can kick you out of ketosis... make up the difference with fat.
