  1. I am starting the process to revise my band to a sleeve. When I got my band i was self pay, however now I have insurance that will cover removal of my band and the revision. I understand that i'm probably going to have to go through all the testing. I have blue cross blue shield..PPO. im wondering if anyone has this insurance and if you were required to do a 6 month diet since I already have the band.

I have Highmark BC/BS...and they didn't require me to do the 6 month diet, etc. As long as your physician sets forth why you need it, it should be approved. Yes, we quoted the same reasons from the policy you posted! However, at first I was denied, but my Dr. Did a peer to peer consultation and it was approved immediately.

  2. @jamielogical....I never said you have to go to the gym to lose weight! However, if after WLS if candidates are stalling....nutrition alone will never be enough. If you're not building muscle or not burning calories at a metabolic rate, you will stall. The surgeries are only a tool...you have to exercise! BTW...studies have shown those that workout with others in a group or gym setting tend to lose more weight! To each your own...mslogical!

  3. You need to incorporate exercise! Cardiovascular and Strength. If you do this, your eating will fall in place. You are over thinking your food intake. Just eat clean, get your Protein and day vegetables each day; and do not eliminate good carbs; your body will tell you how many calories to eat! I eat 6-7.5 ounces/per meal total! Three Snacks per/day...and drink approx. 80-96 ozs of water/day; but I work out 6 days/week hard. My results are From my lifestyle change in the gym....my sleeve is my TOOL helping me reach my weight loss goals! STOP OBSESSING ABOUT FOOD...RISE AND GRIND IN THE GYM! TRUST ME, THE WEIGHT WILL COME OFF!

  5. No regrets at all....I wish I had the sleeve earlier. The band was horrible....had to get readjustment all the time and constantly had food stuck. The sleeve is so much more "user friendly". I can eat pretty much anything I want, but of course in smaller portions of 6oz total meals! Losing approximately 8-10lbs/month....5 months out. Lost 85 total with band after 5 years! You do the math!!!!

  6. You will know what it is.. when u feel it. I designate a total of 6 ounces/meal...I never finish it, but that's my maximum. At least 3 ounces of the 6 is a lean protein...the other 3 is vegetables, etc. If I eat approx

5 ounces..my stomach gets tight and I start to get hiccups....that's my sign...lol.

  7. I have been doing well. Down a total of 18 lbs since surgery....losing about a lb/day. I'm so much happier with the sleeve over the band. I'm never hungry...it's so wierd to me...and how I feel real "restriction" now! Keep up the good work....

Me too! I'm down about 17lbs from my 2 day clear liquid diet.

I can't help but worrying though since it has been so easy compared to the band. I keep wondering if I'll have adequate restriction as a revision patient. What does restriction feel like to you?

I feel restriction finally...with sleeve. I never did with the band. This was the best decision ever! You may be worried because this feeling is all new...the band never did the job...like sleeve. You will have true restriction when u move to real foods...believe me! I can eat a couple ounces at a time...then I'm full abd I'm never hungry between my meals!

  8. So we all know that it feels hugely different. I am on puréed and am having trouble knowing what full is. I can tell you I am satisfied with a small amount of food and once or twice I've gone over and I feel slightly nauseas. Any help former banders? What else should I be feeling here :)

I believe you and I were converted on the same date...6/29/15...correct? I never felt fullness with the band...just too tight, etc. I was on puree for a couple of days, but my surgeon let me proceed with soft foods; and needless to say, I know what fullness is now. I don't go for fullness, I go for satisfied. I measure all items out and I never go over 6 ounces of total food. I make sure 3 of the 6 is protein...and the rest vegetables. I'm never hungry between meals either. Once you move on from liquids/puree, you will notice fairly quickly was restriction is....the band didn't do this for me...so glad I converted! Hope this helps......
