Surgery day!
I just had something delicious. Strained cream of chicken and mushroom soup. Campbell's. Instead of water I used low sodium chicken broth. It was really good

Surgery day!
I've decided to stop weighing everyday. Although I think it's a mistake... I'm gonna try it. I don't want to get discouraged if I don't lose from one day to the next on the other hand weighing everyday keeps me on point so idk... It's tricky. Thoughts?

How long for clear liquids?
One day clear. Two weeks full liquid. Day fifteen any foods but Dr recommend to start with soft stuff.

Newly Sleeved
I had a hietal hernia fixed as well. I've had gastritis for many years also so I'm used to gas discomfort. It is tricky but it does get better. Takes about a week. Keep walking and finding ways to get the gas out. It gets easier

Surgery day!
I find myself fantasizing about food. And no, I don't mind if it's only four ounces of food... That still sounds awesome. I just want real food! Four more days....

Surgery day!
Omggg. Pears sound so good right now lol. I'm definitely going to pick up one of those rotisserie chickens for my first meat meal then possibly some ground bison and pulse it in the blender a couple times. So excited for next Thursday lol

Surgery day!
Here's the "two week" email from my doctor... It is now 2 weeks since your Sleeve Gastrectomy and time to begin transitioning from the liquid phase to more solid food. Start off with foods of the consistency of scrambled eggs and cottage cheese and gradually increase to normal solids and meats and vegetables. Be aware that initially that you will likely feel full before the 4 ozs, most feel full with 1-3 ozs of solid food. This will gradually increase over this next year. Even if you cannot initially eat the full 4 ozs, I believe it is still important to weigh out with a scale or measure with a known size container a consistent 4 ozs every meal, even if you have to throw away or restore what you cannot finish. This gets you in the important habit of portioning out a known food volume rather than just eating as much as your stomach will hold. Also it trains your brain to see 4 ozs as a lot of food, whereas your brain before surgery saw 4 ozs as just a tiny amount of food. Also it teaches your brain that it is OK not to always have to finish all the food on the plate, and it is OK top stop eating even when more food is available. How much you can eat will also depend on what foods you are eating. For example, you may be able to eat 3 ozs of something soft like scrambled eggs, but only 1 ozs of something more dense like chicken, and you will have to eat chicken in smaller bites and slower than scrambled eggs. As you increase the solids you should be weaning off the Protein shakes. Most patients like doing just one Protein shake for a Breakfast Meal Replacement. If you eat a solid breakfast you do not need to do a protein shake. If you feel discomfort, pain, or acid reflux after eating it usually means you took too big a bite, ate too fast, or overfilled the Sleeve pouch. You should stop eating before you begin feeling discomfort but you will only be able to determine this if you are eating slowly and concentrating on your level of "fullness." If you are having acid reflux at night you can try over the counter Prilosec, Pepcid or Zantac. If it persists let us know and we can give you a prescription for something stronger like Protonix or Nexium. -- Darren Soong, M.D., F.A.C.S

Surgery day!
Well kids I have diarrhea. Now I am sick with a cold and I took two NyQuil but I might maybe just maybe have diarrhea because of the matzo ball. But I also just had some chicken broth so I don't know. I would love to rationalize away the matzo ball but I really can't so I guess I'm not cheating anymore until this damn 14 day liquid thing is over. Insert mad face

Chest Pain?
listen to be quite honest - it's probably gas. people think it's like haha gas but no, it can feel like a heart attack and the "pain' moves around as you described. i'm literally having chest pains as we speak but i know it's gas cuz i've had gastritis for years. i too went to the ER pre-op thinking i was having a heart attack due to chest pains. acid reflux and gas CAN feel like a heart attack. just a thought.

Nope. And I can even say that being on day nine of this effing liquid diet which does suck but it's all worth it to get to a happier healthier and skinnier state

????????????????best app ever!
The one on the left is my current disgusting state of 220. The other two are edited versions. I'm thinking the middle one is what I might look like at 160 and the last one on the right is what I might look like at 140 LOL. sometimes. When you're on day nine of the stupid effing liquid diet you got to find a way to amuse yourself

Surgery day!
oh i got a great tip from a lady (and a not so great tip lol). The great tip was make your own delicious Soup - she made bean soup, chicken tortilla soup etc and then strain it to drink a tastier broth. It's not quite as low sodium but at least you won't wanna kill yourself by day 10 of the liquid diet. her 'not so great' tip was "hey...ice cream is the same consistency as yogurt!" LOL. bad bad girl! i won't do that just cuz i want the weight to keep dropping off but it was kinda funny.

Surgery day!
they said day 15 is any foods but it's "easier" to start with soft stuff. my nut said she lived on roteissere chickens cuz they are moist and soft and easy to eat. this liquid thing is killing me. i don't do the 30x chewing thing either but i will definitely start once we're off liquid hell phase.

Surgery day!
well there was no pureed portion of my plan I had just read that on the internet lol. But I think it's two or three weeks. What was your drinking, eating, chewing challenge?. In my culture we don't generally drink during meals so I'm ok on that unless I'm drinking wine which clearly I'm not right now. Lol My nutritionist said she lived on those rotisserie chickens. and i love those, so no prob there Sounds like you are doing great! I did my labs yesterday and my post-op appointment is tomorrow. On your plan, how long was your pureed food phase? What did it consist of? I know I am on full liquids through day 14, then I am on soft foods from days 15 - 30. I am hoping that I can be successful trying to balance drinking and eating/chewing. I did not do a great job of that pre-op.
-
Surgery day!
Just did first post op appnt. Good news is I get to skip the pureed food portion of the post op diet. Bad news is one more week of liquids!! Ugh!! 220 today so nine pounds down. Today is day eight. Just six more days to go. I can do this!
-
Surgery day!
. Nice job. Cooking for the family is hard. Going to work/being in social situations is tough as well. I'm hoping they tell me tomorrow I can go soft food or pureed or something lol. It's day eight.

Today I wanted a steak. I know I can't but I wanted it lol Tomorrow we're having a going away party for my boss at an amazing place I could never afford on my own but.....i can't eat lol Oh well. food isn't disappearing off the planet. This liquid diet is temporary. Though I will say I hope to be put on the mushy diet tomorrow. I have my post op appnt tomorrow. Some refried Beans with pureed beef would be divine lol Week one loss: 7lbs

Surgery day!
I'm doing ok. Thank you. Little gassy and tired but ok. I find that you have to stay on the prescribed diet to the letter or you won't feel good. So that's what I'm doing Still losing a pound a day so that's good
