Stalled again at almost 5 months out. For about 2 1/2 weeks so far. I'm 50 pounds down but wishing this stall hadnt hit now. Onederland is only 22 pounds away and I'm feeling discouraged. Not really sure the best thing to do so I'm going back to supplementing my mini meals with Protein Shakes and ~700 calories per day. At least for a few days. I admit my Water intake has been poor over the past 2 weeks and I will push to ensure I get my 64-72 in today.

Does anyone have any other ideas for stall busters???

I keep hitting stalls too, but am trying to look at the big picture. What I’ve noticed is that I NEED Proteins. I’ve also noticed that for 700 calories a day doesn’t cut it. My body goes into starvation mode and the stall lasts longer. I’m down 58 lbs. it’s slow, but it keeps coming off little by little. Congrats on your loss so far. Keep on keeping on.

Oh I bet it will be merely a speed bump. Mine also had the problem that I am 73 and don't heal as quickly as younger people. But I will still join you in Healthier- Land, you are going to get there first, but save me a place, I still plan on joining YOU!❤

I read your story and boy, have you been through a lot! I hope you continue healing and get to the other side. I'll save your spot! 😁 Good luck!!!

How did you know you had the marginal ulcer and how are they handling it?

The pain started about 7 weeks out. Just below my breastbone and seemed to radiate outward. No reflux (reason i had the sleeve to bypass revision) or vomiting. But i have Zofran to use when needed. My doctor has made himself very accessible by email and phone. I had all the classic symptoms. He said we could do a scope, or we could just treat it without giving my pouch and intestine the added stress. He said if we did the scope, the treatment would be the same. Twice a day Prilosec capsule's, without the capsule. And three to five times daily Carafate, dissolved in Water and drank like a shot. We initially tried for two weeks to see if there was any relief. There was. After a few days I noticed the pain was not constant. At the end of the first two weeks, I still had pain after eating, but still less frequent, and the severity was definitely less. So we have continued with the doctor checking in at two week intervals. Now, the pain is almost non-existent unless I forget to take the meds. We are continuing the meds for 4 more weeks and will then do a scope to make sure things are as they should be. I feel much better with each day. I'm hopeful that this was just a speed bump and will be healed in the next few weeks.

  4. Hi everyone. It’s been a little over a month since we’ve checked in with each other. How are you all doing. I’ve been dealing with a marginal ulcer the past 6 weeks or so. But it’s healing and I’m starting to feel better. I’m down 45 pounds since surgery on March 12! I figured out that only eating 400 or 500 calories a day was making me stall. I usually get between 700 to 900 calories and I almost feel normal. Although I track my food religiously, and exercise at least 5 times a week. Hope you all are having success.

  5. I was just diagnosed with a marginal ulcer. I am 2 months out tomorrow. I haven’t had nausea or vomiting either. Just a searing pain under my sternum a couple of inches. I feel dizzy when the pain hits. It hurts to even touch my abdomen. Taking omeprazol and carafate for the next 2 months. But I feel fortunate after reading some of your stories. Best of luck and healing to you all.

  6. Hi all. I’m wondering if anyone else is experiencing a “filmy” feeling and taste in your mouth. I’m getting my Water in, but I wake up every morning with a sweet (and not in a good way) coated feeling in my mouth. There have been times throughout the day that I get the same sensation. Kind of icky....

Yesterday marked two weeks since surgery and I’ve been feeling good. Saw my surgeon and all is healing well. I went back to work on Wednesday and am just a little tired. I’m in the purée stage and have been handling that well, but get full so fast I’m not getting all my Protein in but am hitting my Water goals. I’m still really sensitive to smells and struggle with my Vitamins (they stink!) haha so I’m trying out the Patches.

my first NSV happened the other day - I was able to fit into a pair of jeans that would go past my hips the day before surgery 😊

hope everyone one is well and sending those who have upcoming surgery well wishes!

I have been going through the process for this because of GERD too. I heard from my surgeon today after having a bunch of tests done to figure out just how bad the acid is and what kind of damage it has done. Basically my only 2 options are to stay on Protonix forever or have the bypass surgery. The medication doesn't work all day for me and I don't really want to be on this medicine long term so I'm leaning towards the revision to bypass but it's still scary. I'm waiting for a call for the surgery department to set up a surgery date.

To those of you that have already had the revision surgery, how are you recovering? Did you notice a difference with your acid reflux?

Hi bubbz, I had my surgery a week ago. I'm still sore and it's been a bit bumpy at times, but you expect that with surgery. The main thing is, NO REFLUX! I've been taking protonix (which causes bone loss long term) twice a day for over a year. Along with Tums, omeprasol and whatever else I could shove down my throat to stop the burning and nausea. It also seemed like I hadn't slept a full night in years. ALL Gone! I was worried about the surgery too. But as of now, I am so happy. And I can sleep all night! I'm so happy I did this!

Anyone else have (sorry for tmi) very loose stool almost like diarrhea? Surgery was Monday 3/11 and I’ve had it since yesterday. Will call Dr tomorrow. Also has anyone weighed themselves? I figured since I’ve had nothing but liquids and they’re going through me I’d have lost something. Well folks I am 6 pounds UP. I’m not discouraged yet as I am still swollen. But it was a bit of a kick in the shorts.
I had surgery on the 12th and am having the same problem. First time it happened, I was in bed asleep. Hoping it doesn’t last long.

  10. How is everyone doing post op so far. Waiting to be discharged now. Completely different experience than I had with the sleeve. And I slept last night without reflux waking me up! And no reflux at all today. That hasn’t happened in the past two years. Quite sore this morning, but I’m up and walking. I’m optimistic. Hope everyone is doing well.

  11. Wrapping up my first week of preop diet. I’ve had a few “moments” of wanting to gnaw on my arm but they’ve passed quickly. Down 8 pounds and feeling better! Less pressure in my lower back and my arthritic knees. March 11th cannot get here fast enough! Firmly planted on the losers bench!
Good luck! March 12th here [emoji4]
