  1. GoodiDre, with southeast bariatrics you have the option to do the seminar online as long as you have a passing grade. Then once you take the test then you fax in the application and copy of insurance card and they call you the next day and my appointment was about 3 weeks out after they called me back.
  2. GoodiDre, are you seeing carolinas weight mana. Or southeast bariatrics? Or another office?
  3. I just got a letter in the mail that states i have to pay $1,602.26 for my appointment aug 12. I am wondering how much others paid and if there is a way to reduce this. T
  4. Truthful? Wow, well that is even morr concerning.
  5. With southeast bariatrics, how about you? a lot of people in charlotte go to carolinas weight mana.
  6. Hi everyone, i have my appointment with my psych Monday and wondering if anyone was not cleared and what happened after that? also what is the appointment like?
  7. Charlotte here, i am with southeast bariatrics and so far so good. I have all my appointments scheduled in the next 4 weeks; psych. July 20, NUT july 30, egd aug 12 and excercise aug 13. I had my cardio last week. I feel like everything is going so quick specially that my insurance doesnt require a diet.
  8. Hi everyone. I was wondering if some surgeons schedule the surgery while waiting for the insurance to approve. i would hate to wait up to a month for approval from bcbsnc and then wait another month for my surgery to take place.
  9. LessOfMe0503 you mentioned you are in NC and have bcbs, i have bcbsnc am wondering how long it takes for approval. Reading your post that would mean around 2 weeks. Hopefully its that quick when we submit all my paperwork.
  10. Jessypessy86 has your surgeon told you about how long an average does it take them to do the surgery? I plan on getting the bypass, what about you?
  11. That sounds super fast, i am so happy for you. I hope everything turns out great during your preop, surgery, and post op.What insurance do you have? Did you have to have 3 or 6 month diet?
  12. I have bcbsnc and I am covered. Just have to make sure I am approved. It depends if his employer opted out of weight loss surgery coverage or not. Bcbsnc generally approved weight loss surgery only of his employer chose that with their plan. Keep me posted, I have my appointment with the surgeon June 17 so if I know something else I'll mention it here.
  13. Great! I have bcbsnc which I believe it takes 4-6 weeks to approved. When my surgeon submits everything to them I plan on calling every 3 days I guess lol
  14. Thanks for the info. I will look into that route if my insurance doesn't approve.
  15. Everything sounds great, I also am considering going to Mexico for surgery. How far out do they schedule your surgery ? Who did you contact?
  16. As I'm researching my insurance requirements for surgery, I called bcbsnc to ask and they basically told me that I have to meet my surgeons requirments. I thought that they required 2 previous years showing bmi being over 40. As I go on my surgeons website they requirments does not include previous 2 years weight. Now that you mention this I will ask my surgeon.
  17. Great! Keep us updated with the process and surgery date please and thank you.
  18. I have told my very very close friends (handful) and my close family (I have a very very small family mom, dad, sister). Depends on who you are really.
  19. In North carolina bcbs changed the 6 month diet supervision a few years ago. Hopefully in California they do the same, lucky for you and plenty others copay is not that much. I'm looking to pay $7000 or more for gastric bypass. I have been thinking about the surgery for years but I'm terrified of needles for blood work and the knife that will be used for the incisions
  20. Thanks Kelli I should be scheduling an appointment soon. Bcbsnc stated that they approve if I meet the surgeons qualifications. But I thought bcbsnc required proof of last 2 years weight to approve, which is not on the surgeons website. I should get more info once I make the appointment and speak with him.
  21. Congrats, I'm just beginning to do some research on weight loss surgery. My understanding was that if you have sleep apnea you don't qualify for surgery. Could someone explain that to me, thanks.
  22. I was hoping to know how the process was for gastric bypass. I called bcbsnc and the lady wasn't very helpful in answering the requirements I have to meet to get my surgery approved. I know I have to have a bmi of over 40 since I don't have for now any other problems. what I am not sure is do I need proof of last 2 years weight with my physician or meet with a dietician. All info will be greatly appreciated.
  23. Please let us know how the surgery went. If my insurance does not approve gastric bypass I am planning on going to cancun, mexico for surgery. Let us know how they treated you, how the facility and equipment looks like. Thanks and good luck everyone.
