Getting all ducks lined up.....
Well I have my psych eval on Thursday the 24th that the bariatric surgeon requires. Now my insurance company doesnt require this stuff..but I just was able to make an appt to get in to talk to my PCP about seeing if he would recommend the surgery as well. I also called my ob/gyn that diagnosis me with PCOS and Insulin resistance to write a letter also. So I'm covering all my basis before I send this in to the bariatric surgeon along with my packet they want me to fill out about my medical history etc to get a consult. I'm making sure there wont be any question of me getting this surgery. That way the insurance company has no problems seeing that I have issues and need this surgery. My PCP has seen me more times than I can count about having chronic bronchitis and just being sick all the time and my asthma getting worse. I am also quitting smoking...I'm down to 4 cigs a day. Mostly at work and on the drive home. Of course you realize with quitting smoking I'm gonna gain more weight...which will also help with the surgery not that I really need any with being over 250 now and only 5'5! So whatcha think..have I missed anything that might be required?? My insurance co and the surgeon dont require the 6 month weight loss program...just lots of diet history with the packet you send in. Is there anything else that I havent thought of yet? :rolleyes2:

The most insulting compliment.
Yeah I got those kind of "compliments" from my ex aunt...she would always say "you have such a pretty face, if you just dropped a few lbs you would be gorgeous" how is a 11 yr old suppose to take something like that...I mean her children (my cousins) were a gymnast and a cheerleader and wore size 0 clothes. That is one of MANY reasons she is my EX-AUNT

Question: hope to get answered
I seriously doubt it!!! That is something she has to discuss with her physcians. Wow I doubt that would be healthy at all. to have bypass already and now trying to get lapband done...The doc might look at her and say.."well if you cant control urself with a bypass then you wont be able to with a lapband" Now that is just my opinion....sorry I just say whatever comes out of my head....I do apologize if you take offense.

Newbie from Kansas
Well I seen his pic at the seminar and he's got a cute face and my friend had bypass done by the woman doc and she had follow ups with Steward and she said he's the one I want to go with because of how picky I am about my docs...I dont want one that is going to talk down to me and not listen to my concerns etc. We will definitely have to get together for lunch sometime. I am off on Sat and Sundays.

Lapband And Pcos
I also have PCOS and Insulin Resistance and believe me it's extremely hard to lose weight now, I cant imagine if it's going to work with the band. :cool:So I'm very skeptical...I mean I have no problem w/ exercising and weights and eating right. With the insulin resistance it doesnt matter what I eat whether healthy or not...my body immediately stores it. So I'm hoping that getting the lapband will kick my metabolism into gear and help me burn all this crap that my body has been storing for yrs and yrs.

I am also looking over all the stuff that they look for in the psych eval and my head is just spinning!!! Someone help please!!! :myscared:

Going to seminar meeting tomorrow morning!!
Hello, well tomorrow is the seminar and I'm at work trying to think up things to ask, but I guess the nerves are destroying brain cells. I cant seem to think...I only got 3 questions written down... 1. In your experience have patients that have PCOS and pre-diabetic find it still extremely difficult to lose weight w/ the band? 2. How many patients have had problems w/ band and have to have it removed? 3. How many bands have you done? They sound TOTALLY LAME dont they?? I know there is tons of stuff I want to know and ask, but for the life of me I cant think of them...damn it!!! LOL Please help me!!!

Hello! Another Newbie :)
Well first off, Welcome to LBT!! I also have pcos and insulin resistance as well. Dont have high blood pressure but I do have the infertility problems. I am so sorry to hear about your miscarriages, I've only had one in my 11 yr journey to have a baby, so I KNOW what you're going through and wish you all the luck in the world. I'm pre-band and my seminar is Saturday and I cant wait!!! At the seminar they will give me the packet to fill out and send back to them. So I'll be doing that asap! Again Welcome and talk to you soon

excited nervious and impatient
Welcome to LBT! I totally know what you mean about ppl being negative, that's why I'm not telling too many ppl. I mean if half of our friends knew how many times we've tried to diet and keep it off, they would understand why we are going this route. I KNOW this is going to work for me, I know I can do this....and I want and need to do it...not for my friends, family, husband, son..but FOR ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Blessings to you and keep us well informed of your progress...BTW I'm pre-band...my seminar is saturday!!

Mini-Goal reached !!!!
