Is this protein drink made with whey protein?

Congratulations! I hope your recovery continues to be well. I'm sorry to hear about your complication; however, I'm even more glad to hear it was resolved. Had to be quite frightening. You sound like you're doing amazing. Please keep us posted. How's the gas pain? Did you have a drain? Catheter? Have you been able to walk yet? If so how often? What about liquids, are cleared to have liquids yet (since you're complication)? Immediately after how would you rate your pain on a scale of 10 being the worst?

I'm excited for everyone here. Initially I was going to have the sleeve, but after my EGD results, my surgeon said it had to be bypass. I go for my final weigh in next Wednesday. My pre op is Friday! I completed my phone interview with the hospital the other day. It's like wow, it's happening! I'm really happy to be able to share this experience with people who completely understand what this feels like.

My pre-op appt is Oct 2nd. My tentative surgery date is October 12th. My paperwork will be submitted September 30th. I'm only nervous about my final weigh in. I didn't have to lose weight before surgery, I just have not gain....that is hard! I'm excited to be on the lover's bench. I'm ready for a new start. If any one has any questions/suggestions I should ask in pre op appt, I'm completely open for suggestions please. I'd love to make sure I'm prepared. I can't believe the day is getting closer.

Hi everyone! I'm having my surgery Oct 12th. My pre op appt is Oct 2nd. What are some important questions I need to ask. I'm preparing my list, but I just want to be sure I don't forget anything. So far I want to ask: - will I need blood thinner injections post op? -what is the Myers cocktail ( 2 weeks of Vitamins and hydration for healing) is this an option? - can I bring Gas X strips and use them post op? - will I have a drain post op? - will I have a catheter? What questions did you all ask for your final appt? Thanks

I haven't had my surgery yet, it's 10/12. I used to use Jay Robbs strawberry protein powder with almond milk. It was the best, but my allergies are steadily developing at a rapid rate, so I can no longer use his brand. I'm now using a milk based protein, lactose free. It's Organic Valley Organic Fuel. They come in vanilla and strawberry with 26 grams of protein. They're delicious. I use the orange vanilla Mio in my vanilla shake....delicious! There's always the Torani syrups to add different flavors. I purchase them from Whole Foods and some Giants carry them.

My surgery is 10/12 as well. I'm so excited. Less than a month away.

I started to think the same thing. I'll be having soft/puree foods by the time Thanksgiving roles around. I believe I'll be 5 or 6 weeks by then.

Thank you for sharing. I'm sorry you experienced so many obstacles. At the same time, you gained so much strength and determination during that time. You focused, decided what wanted and went for it. Good job! Good luck with getting a surgery date! You have to be super proud of yourself and excited! You should be.

I told my 8 year old daughter today. I explained that I need to fix my problem with burping so much. I know it sounds weird, but she knows it's awful because it's all the time. I normally would've waited until my date was closer, but given that she had surgery last year (removal of adenoids and tonsils), I thought she would have been ok. She immediately cried, and said she was worried. "What if something happens to you?" I explained that this is the best thing for mommy and I'll be so much better afterwards, just as she was after her surgery. She cried and cried. I reassured her that I have a great doctor and he's never made a mistake with the surgery. She asked a few more questions, but I feel bad because now I think I told her way too soon. I thought a month's notice would good for processing time. Throughout the evening she's randomly asked questions about it. I've been beating myself up over it all evening

cslove, that's good to hear. I'm sorry about the pain meds and nausea. I worry about that because I get nauseous so very easy. Congratulations again on your surgery and your journey. I'm sure it's totally new way to live. Nice to hear your commitment, I can only imagine how difficult it is. Do you have a week or two for the post op liquid diet? Continue to feel better and hang in there?

Sweettooth2015 I lived in PG County too. I lived in Forestville, Mitchellville, and Temple Hills. I currently live Fairfax County.

I'm Oct 12th. I have 1 more NUT appt and weigh in. I don't have to lose any weight before surgery. I 'll have a 3 day pre op liquid diet.

That's my biggest fear too.... Is being denied. You've come so far and completed all the requirements and then denied. That would kill me. However it wouldn't stop me. I'd appeal and continue until I'm approved.
