Approved for Band not Sleeve;(Need some advice.

I'm in Reno. I loved my surgeon. PM me if you want his name. -
Jealous about having a low BMI? Hmmm....I started with a 33 BMI (5'6" 200 HW/SW) when I was sleeved 6/30/15. I've lost 35 pounds so far and am rocking size 10 skinny pants. I eat healthy carbs and anything else I want in very small quantities. I'm eating in a manner that is sustainable for the rest of my life! I'm not trying to lose fast, I'm trying to lose it permanently. Just because we have this weight loss tool, doesn't mean all logic to losing weight should be ignored. Some of the best learning to do on this site is to read the stories of people who have regained a lot of weight. Many say they lost quickly, but by eating too restrictively and in ways they couldn't continue. Others describe regret in not using the honeymoon period as a learning period on how to eat healthfully. Yes, we each have our own journey, but I'd rather learn from others' mistakes (plus some of my own), because I don't have time to make them all myself!

You don't have to go to Mexico to self-pay. There's an entire thread of costs and places in the US on this forum. I self paid $14,000 in Nevada. I didn't need a note from my PCP.

Good luck with that! You better throw out any scale in your house. Make sure you take your measurements.

GasX. Takes it right away.

I'm in! 160 by 10/31!

Relax! Stop weighing yourself so you don't drive yourself crazy. It will come off, your bodies are just readjusting. I'm only a few weeks past you two (sleeved 6/30/15), but I've learned the body does weird things. I'm settling into a 2 lb per week average, but when I looked at the daily amounts it was stressful. A month or so down the road you'll just giggle at how you drove yourself nuts. Just follow your rules from your surgeon/nut and you'll do fine!

@@lmhelmick I was sleeved on 6/30/15, weighed 200 on day of surgery, and have lost 30 pounds. I think we are both doing awesome!

It wears off, too. You're swollen and sensitive from surgery. Although the restriction is always going to be there, it gets a lot easier in a matter of a few weeks.

Healthy eating includes healthy carbs! We live in the real world and will have to for the rest of our lives!

Try Gas-X when it happens again! Works every time with a bit of walking.

@@Abbie213 if you're still at only 2 ounces of food per meal and only having 3 meals a day plus a snack, you're probably not getting enough calories or protein. I'm two months out and eating way more. I'd have NO energy to move, let alone exercise. I get close to 100 grams of protein per day. Track your protein, not your food ounces. Good luck.

New to this...5 days post op for me..

Normal! You're swollen inside after having major surgery! Relax and sip. It'll be a distant memory in no time. -
171.2!!! Not sure if I had goal of 172 or 170, but I'll take it!
-
I've heard sugar alcohols can cause this (i.e. Sugar free drinks and foods). Downside of many of our protein drinks!

Drank wine two months out. Couldn't finish the glass in an hour. Not worth the calories.

Soups just slid right down.

I'm 9 weeks out. Feel great. Can eat anything now--just ultra mini portions--but I try to stick with real food. I occasionally slime by eating too much, but I'm getting a lot better monitoring myself. Definitely have to eat slowly too. I started at 200 SW (33.3 BMI) and am now about 169. Love my sleeve! -
I had that and at 9 weeks out still do. It's gas bubbles for me and Gas-X works well on it.

Any Experiences with Not Obeying Doctors Orders?
sleevenv replied to kelseysleevedup's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
I defy my doctor's orders. He said to stay away from dried fruit permanently. I eat prunes cuz they make me poop! No regrets! -
Hmmmm. My dumping usually happens after breakfast. Right after my omeprazole (spl???)
-
Sometimes being alone is a lot less lonely than being in a relationship with someone who isn't supportive. Single doesn't mean lonely.

I'm 9 weeks out and I still use 2-3 Gas-X a day. No pain, just loud noises after I eat. The strips make me feel not so full.
