    Anniversary Trip

Order crab in the shell! It's a lot of work and you get only small bits of soft protein at a time! Just forget using the butter!
  2. I'm only a 33.3 BMI and I'm having a sleeve done today. My husband is supportive and the three friends I've told are also behind me. I can't tell my family because they are all judgmental and weigh a lot more than me. I may look just a little "plump", but at age 53 my blood pressure, sleep apnea and high cholesterol were constant reminders I need to lose weight. I tried many times to lose weight, but it just won't come off since my thyroid was removed. To hell with those who think this may be easy! It's not easy at all.

    Feeling blue:(

My thought is that we've spent our entire lives focusing on food as a source of enjoyment and happiness. Although there is nothing wrong with enjoying a good meal, we now need to focus on food as a source of energy and life. If we've gotten to the point of needing this surgery, we are one of the many who just cannot have food as the center of our lives any more. It's repeated over and over in the Bariatric world. Eat to live, not live to eat! Good luck my friend.

July 14 (or close )Sleeve Date Friends

The first 48 hours of pre-op is the worst. Most of the withdrawals are on the down hill after that! Good luck.

July 21 sleeve date and scared

There's not a person on this site that didn't have that fear--at least momentarily--pre-surgery! I'm going under in 12 hours and I still have a little bit of that thought every now and again.
  6. Good luck! There's a number of us going under tomorrow!

    June 30th Sleevers?

7:30 surgery for me! Check in at 6 am. I'm chugging G2. Never drank it before but I'm terrified of being dehydrated tomorrow morning and it goes down easier than water. When I had my gall bladder out in March it took them eight tries to get the IV in and were almost going to have to do a "cut down" to start the fluids. I might be peeing all night but I don't care, hydrating until midnight!

    June 30th Sleevers?

I wish it was only a headache! I have "dumping" from this special liquid I have to drink. Its main ingredient is high fructose corn syrup, then sugar, then a boatload of vitamins. It's a "surgery support" meal replacement. Totally not allowed after surgery, but I've had to drink five a day for three days. Two more boxes left and surgery tomorrow! I'm going to go in to this thing already dehydrated!
  10. You can do whatever you like and eat whatever you want. The question you should ask yourself is what results do you want? Having this surgery is a major life decision. What kind of life do you want from it? There are plenty of posts from people who didn't follow their surgeons' rules who are now posting how the surgery failed. There are others (most) who reach a point of "good enough" and yet others who are rock star WLS perfectionists that lose incredible amounts of weight. We are given the ability to chose.

    Anxious is putting it mild

@littlefoot. I'm so proud of you to make the decision for the bypass. With all that you've been through it must be a hard decision to have made. I hope this time you will find the tools and approach to make your WLS a success. It's sounds like you are in great hands with a surgeon who is proactive about your care. Good luck and stay strong.

    June 30th Sleevers?

Finishing the first of my three day liquid diet. I have to drink a special meal replacement that is full of sugar. It's not the post-op shake. Yuck. However, it's the only pre-op I have to do so I'll just suck it up. I'm a 33.3 BMI so no liver shrinkage necessary. I'm so excited about Tuesday!

    Venting....

You are (or are going to be) eating healthy and exercising in order to lose the weight! The surgery is a tool to increase the likelihood you will do both successfully.

Pre op testing in the morning!

Mine was easy peasy too. Just the blood draw was uncomfortable, but it only lasts two minutes. June 30th for me!
  17. Perhaps following your surgeon's requirements is best. My doctor made me sign a contract that I'd follow HIS guide and not other people or surgeons. Sometimes damage is long done before we even know there's a problem.
  18. Bariatric Advantage is thick--that's why I love it--especially the Orange Cream! I dislike the thin brands (Syntrax is HORRID to me)! To each his own. You've got to see which one is the best for you!

    I cheated....I'm ashamed

Listen to your surgeon! The people here are well meaning and trying to be supportive, but they're not the one who's cutting you and removing your stomach! Each surgeon has his own approach, but he also knows your medical status! Shrinking your liver may be paramount to your surgeon for your case! That being said, don't quit over a slip. Get back on it and remember this is your health and your life!

    June Sleevers!

My surgery is on Monday and honestly I'm getting cold feet idk if I'm ready to have a part of me removed forever I said that when they removed my thyroid, my female organs and my gall bladder! It's more the anticipation that made me nervous--not the actual results. I was and am fine without them! Now--on June 30th--most of my stomach! I want the results and am choosing to not concentrate on the loss. But it is a loss and I am told we will grieve it!

That was fast! Glad they got to the bottom of it and you're back on the way to healing and getting fit!

    June 30th Sleevers?

My pre-op tests today were a chest X-ray, EKG, and blood draw. No big deal at all. I'm June 30th too. I have blood pressures of 175/95 and I'm having the surgery. That's partly why I'm having it! I've had a lot of surgeries and they always give a little something ahead of time to make me relax.
