Good for you! We all can use some self examination as to why we contributed to our fat selves and why we surrounded ourselves with other people with the same issue! Here's to our forward journey!
-
Perhaps it's your body burning excess energy (fat)!
-
Like any addiction, one day at a time! Thank you for being honest and keeping it real! Have you tried OA meetings?

@@Ktprimo WTH your best friends are "mad" at you for having the surgery???? I can't even begin to understand how they can be mad! Disagree? Jealous? Ok, people are allowed opinions, but MAD? They must have issues!

One week out today and I feel like I turned a corner! Still going to take it easy--I'm not shooting for 10,000 steps yet--but I definitely feel better! HW 200, SW 198.6, today 190!

Let's talk about teeth..and stuff

I have it and have read many do too. I believe it's caused by fat burning in the body is often expelled through breathing. Lots of people get bad breath too. I'm excepting it as a good thing! -
The thinned cream based soups were awesome after three days of clears. Something savory instead of sweet! I use Fair Life nonfat milk on the advice of my NUT. Adds nice creaminess and added protein.
-
Shakes, broths and "thinned" cream of potato soup! Two full weeks of this per my Dr. Give me strength!

To each of you Good Luck! Just remember that whatever you feel and whenever you feel it--it will pass!

5 days post op, feeling blah. Normal?
sleevenv replied to chopsitter's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
It was normal for me! I day 5 I posted I had reached a "I feel like crap" day. With no specific explanation day six was great and day 7 was bad again. The only motivation was the steady weight ticking off scale. I think these first few weeks are just going to be that way. -

Drink the shakes! They stave off the hunger that's soon to show up if you don't. Once the hunger shows, you're more apt to eat (spelled cheat)! If your doctor prescribed the shakes you're eating, then I would not worry about carbs. If you purchased the kind you "like" and they're full of sugar (bad type of carb), then you may want to read labels for carb content. Carbs, especially from sugar, make you hungrier sooner and stronger. If it's a doctor prescribed and recommended brand, then try to follow his rules the best you can! Good luck! I found the first 48 hours of carb withdrawal suck and then it slowly got better. But each of us is unique and we have to do our best with what we've got. -
Farting I was handling...but after taking MoM to relieve a slow intestinal tract....I friggin now know what a "shart" is.... Arrrgh.

A person who's 350 is going to lose a lot faster than someone 250 or 200, regardless of height. In the beginning that is... We can't compare ourselves to others EVER.

My surgeon and hospital are rated for bariatric excellence and I was told--as a sleeve patient--that NSAIDS are out of my life forever!

Newbie Question: How do you deal with stress now without food?
sleevenv replied to FocusOnMeNow's topic in Gastric Sleeve Surgery Forums
Prayer! Out loud, on knees, talking to God! Not only asking for help, but praising him for getting you thus far! -
I use unflavored and chicken soup. They're both good. Never tried other flavors yet.

I tried some Fair Life nonfat milk. I normally would NEVER drink milk but my NUT said this stuff has extra protein and less sugar (lactose free). It was much creamier than regular nonfat milk. I warmed it up a bit, added 1/2 scoop of Unjury protein powder and 1/2 packet of stevia. It was yummy and soothing. Got in 20 grams of protein, hydration and it quenched my hunger. It'd be better if it weren't 90 degrees outside too!

I'm in with a goal of 175! Currently at 190.8.

NOT ANY MORE!

I'm feeling great now that MoM did its job! I can drink a 12 oz G2 in 20 minutes as long as I don't gulp. I've gotten 8 oz protein shakes down in about 30 minutes. For three days now I'm getting in my fluids and protein and I don't ever feel overly full. I'm almost feeling like the sleeve isn't working because it's been too easy to drink (I'm on full liquids for three weeks)! I felt crappy yesterday, but it was mostly due to not crapping (sorry)! If it's going badly I worry and if it's going good I worry. Wish I could just relax and let the process do its thing!

@laguerre13 You are only 3 weeks post op and can eat all that meat? I know each surgeon is different, but I haven't read anyone who's eating all that meat before their 1 month out date. I'm in full liquids until the one month mark and then purée for two weeks and soft for two after that. I'm not even allowed the think about what you ate until I'm at least two months out. I think I'd be scared! How wonderful you are able to experience the food with control!

My self pay amount covered an insurance policy for any surgery related complications. My total pay was $14,000 and $1,100 of it was for this policy. It's called BLIS. Ask your surgeon if he qualifies. -
Oh @@Happy13! I'm so sorry for your struggles, the throwing up must be unbearable. I only "gagged" a few times the first day and thought I was ripping my insides out! Two sneezes this morning HURT! I surely hope the worst is behind you! I've had so many surgeries that anesthesia wasn't even on my radar of concern. Your trials humble me and make my need to poop so inconsequential!

I drank three 8 oz protein shakes (under an hour on each), two 8 oz chicken broths (Unjury protein), and several SF Popsicles over the course of today. Each is allowed per my surgeon, but I don't think I'm expected to consume 8 ozs at a time. I burp a little but it feels like it slides right through my stomach. No other drinking close before or for a half hour after. I don't feel like I'm putting any pressure on my sleeve. Too much for 3 days out?

Still waiting!
