I'm from MA originally but live in CA for the last 16 years. I am 61 and had VSG surgery in November. I'm down 80 lbs. so far, so yes, VSG is definitely in the cards for us over-60 folks.

Surgery date 11/3/15. Pre/Post-op weight loss 80.4 lbs.

Add me to the Chili bandwagon - I prefer it mild.

I was telling my wife today we have to go clothes shopping this weekend. I've gone from 5XL to 4XL clothes and now the 4's are hanging off me...
-
I started at 415 - went on pre-op diet on 10/13/15 and had surgery on 11/3/15. So far, I have lost 72 lbs.

Understood now. I am familiar with revision surgery.

I'm looking at the OP's posted stats, and I am pretty surprised that someone with a starting weight of 185 and a goal weight of 150 got sleeve surgery in the first place... Is there something I'm missing here?

I'm 61, was sleeved on 11/3/15, and have lost 66 lbs. so far... Nothing to complain about yet, and delighted wth my progress.

My only second thoughts during the pre-op diet were, "Hey, you're losing a lot of weight on this diet - do you really need the surgery?" Then I realized I would still need to deal with hunger issues, so I went forward with the operation.

I have two chronic conditions for which medication is essential to my well being, so could not have a procedure where the result would cause malabsorption. It was the sleeve or nothing for me.

I believe it is normal. I started my pre-op diet on 10/14 and had surgery on 11/2 and I am down 52 pounds already.
Do keep in mind that everybody responds differently, but your rate sounds normal but on the high end.

I had not had popcorn since my WLS, but had a small portion yesterday while watching the Superbowl. Not going to make it a habit, though.
