actually they say not to drink boost and ensure may have high protiens but has to much sugar and fat unless they are sugar and fat free boost and ensure. those kinds of drinks are more for people who are elderly and dont get adequate food intake or people with a tube feeding. try carnation sugar free instant breakfast its cheaper and what my doctor referred me to have.

i had my surgery the same day 12/12/07 and i left the next day i felt good enough to go finish my christmas shopping. lol

What do you love about your band surgeon and their practice? i loved my surgeon she did a very good job but some of her office people could do better with organization. lol What do you hate? i hate that its so hard to lose weight. I never thought i would have to go to this extreme What do we do well? well my surgeon was very professional kind and up front about everything unlike some of her office workers. What could we do better? the only thing is to be more informative in the post op. What more could we do to help you succeed?. nothing you can only tell us what we need to do and its up to us to listen How could we improve your customer experience with our practices? dont hire to young of an medical assisstant cause then people who come in to you as a patient have to deal with sometimes a age-related attitude. my name is shelly im from pennsylvania north of pittsburgh i am 29 years old. i had been overweight all my life since the second grade. i tried many thing nothing worked. The only time i ever lost any amount of weight was when i was pregnant. go figure. but them after i had each of my children i would gain it all back and then some. i understand completely im 8 days post op and i still cant drink 8 ounces at a time . but i still keep my fluids like water and crystal light with me. and i keep my self moving around i started an excerise program today every morning and that really got me motivated.:whoo::clap2:

i dont know they tell you to eat chicken broth and beef broth too while on post op liquid phase. i havent had problems. and i have lost 29 pounds. there main concern while your on liquid phase is sugar free, fat free

hello thin dolphin, I can totally understand what you have gone thru your entire life. that pretty much sums me up in a nutshell the reason i went with lapband VS gastic bypass is because its less invasive and less revovery time compared to bypass and i didnt feel like them hackin me to peices and stapling me up and so forth and them in for some reason that comes undone then your stomach is open and infection happens and possibly death with the band its just a band wrapped around you . and its reversible. though you may not get fast weight loss as you do with the bypass, but thats the way its designed to be and reason being is so your skin can re adjust to the new body so you may not have much excess skin after weightloss but everyone is different. but what ever choice you make you will do great. i was banded 12/12/07 and i feel great and im only 8 days post op and i feel way different.

I completely understand your frustrations. But maybe instead of getting yourself worked up over this. Take a breath and think to yourself do they really know about the lapbanding system that you have embraced yourself upon. Re educate your family. about the system and how it works. maybe they are doing it to annoy you but maybe they dont understand the steps you have to take before you re introduce your self to regular foods again.

i am a newbie to and it is a long process to get insurance companies to approve but it will be well worth it. I just got banded on 12/12/07 and i feel great. the surgery no problem after surgery that day soreness yes. but all and all i felt great. i wanted to get up and move around but couldnt. stupid iv in your way. i went home next day just to start the dreadful 1-2 week liquid diet. but its not to bad i dont feel hungry. ive lost 29 pounds its been 8 days. but i know once i start the pureed foods the weight loss will be slower. but thats ok. thats the way the band is meant to be. slow steady weight loss the theskin has time to reform to your new body. so keep at it. everything will work out great for you.

congrats on your approval. it seems like it takes forever. i started my process january of this year and got my approval date in august. some of the people in my surgeons office were not the brightest people thank god she has new people working for her. but even after that i had to wait cause the surgeon i used was just newly doing them i was her first case!!! so i still had to wait cause when a doctor first starts out they have to have a experienced doctor with her so many times before she can do it on her own. so then waiting again she had to have 3 candidates before he would even do the surgeries with her. so thier for i had to wait until 3 other ladies were approved before i even got a surgery date boy was i furious i coulda had my surgery done in august. but finally got my surgery date for 12/12/07. i have had it done. and i feel great. so the wait is worth it. i hope this go well for you.

hi jenny im from pennsylvania my name is shelly and i had my lapbanding on 12/12/07 as well i have lost a total of 29 lbs. so far. it is driving me crazy to not being able to eat some sort of textured food . i have been alternating water crystal light, chicken and beef broth,carnation sugar free instant breakfast,sugar free popsicles. and its getting old so today i tried some sugar free jello and it went down good. and i felt like i was eating again with a little bit of texture. so if you havent tried the jello yet. try it it might help

I had my surgery on 12/12/07 i cant feel the band but i can feel where the port is. maybe its just the swelling? i would contact your doctor

im new here but my doctor recommened me to use sugar free carnation instant breakfast at least 2 times a day to supplement the protien. and its pretty good tastes like chocolate milk.lol
