    How long was hospital stay?

4 hours! I was released 4 hours after I was moved to recovery! No issues at all and was super happy to be relaxing in my own home. Was off the pain meds within 48 hours. Less than two weeks post-op and feel like a million bucks!

    Premier protein shakes on sale

Thanks for sharing! I didn't know that you could order online without a membership! This is great! I am in a single household and it makes no sense for me to purchase a membership for no more than I buy! Just bought two packs of these online...and free shipping!!!

    Post Op Recipes?

I found tons of recipes on Pinterest. Also check out the World According to Eggface. I also follow her on Pinterest as well.
  6. Not sure...was sleeved over a week ago but in no hurry to jump on the scale. Refuse to be controlled by the scale. Have a post op appointment with my surgeon on Thursday so guess I will weigh then. Not worried about how much I lose or how quickly, if I follow my surgeons plan it will work!

    Surgery tomorrow!

Good luck tomorrow! My surgery was last Monday and I packed way more than I needed. I only used Chapstick and a pillow on the way home. The hospital provided everything else! Let us know how it goes! See you on the other side!

Can't wait to hear how your surgery went! Welcome to the other side
  11. I used the Unjury no flavor protein powder in French onion soup broth. It worked well. I took a little bit of the broth and whisked the protein powder in it before adding the warm broth. Just make sure the broth isn't too hot or the protein powder will clump.

    Surgery 8/3, and I'm Hungry!

I had surgery 8/3 as well but have no desire to eat anything. I set a timer to remind me to drink my Protein shakes and Soup. What about sugar free Popsicles...maybe that would help with your hunger/cravings? One more thing...have you tried Premier Protein Shakes? I found these to not be as chalky and thick as other shakes!

Unjury Chicken Soup -- Am I doing it wrong?

@@theother_onefoot I mix mine with a little bit of room temp water first using a small wisk and then blend with the warm water. Works well for me!

    Outpatient VSG

I had my surgery this past Monday. Surgery at 6:30 am and released by 2:00 pm. My surgeon does all of his surgeries at his outpatient facility. I had a wonderful experience and was much happier to be recovering in my own home/bed than a hospital. I lived about 45 miles from the facility and had no issues in the car on the way home. Took a dose of pain medicine before leaving and had a pillow against my stomach. Good luck with your journey!
  15. I had my surgery on Monday and while I certainly haven't been bedridden....traveling is not something I would want to do. My day is spent focusing on getting enough protein and water and surprisingly it is a full time job!
  16. @ yes I am on the private FB page. @@nomoremeds they will give you the info when you go to your pre-op class...the one where you taste the different flavors of Protein powder. They don't officially add you to the FB group until you have surgery.
  17. Feeling ok. Walking and sipping as much as I can. Got in all my water yesterday but no protein. Not doing so well with water today but did get in 20g of protein. I am scared of drinking too much at one time. It's like I am way too cautious with my new stomach and I can't even imagine eating real food again. The thought of an actual protein shake is even too much for me. I am taking it one day at a time...one sip and one step at a time.
  18. It is extremely common to gain weight. I don't intend on weighing myself until my follow up appointment with my surgeon next week. Good luck on your journey!
  19. So glad to hear how well you are doing! Sending positive thought your way that you continue to quickly heal!
  20. When is your surgery? Which hospital will you be at? I was at the new Destiny center in Frisco that Dr. Kim opened recently. It was super clean/nice and all of the staff was amazing!
  21. I haven't had any nausea or thrown up. There were 6 of us sleeved at my facility yesterday and if anyone was throwing up I was not aware. Heard lots of people complaining about gas but that was about it. I hope you get to feeling better soon. Are you still in the hospital?

How long from consultation to surgery?

Welcome to the group! All of the questions you have are great questions and will need to be addressed by your surgeon or NUT. You will find that everyone's situation is different. I was cash pay as well and it took about 10 weeks from my initial consult with my surgeon (I actually met with three total before making a decision) and my surgery date (which was yesterday). My surgeon has a 4-5 week wait time at this point so that was most of the waiting. Good luck with your journey and remember to write down your questions so you can address with your surgeons office.

Dr. Holden in dfw- other dfw Drs

You are very lucky to be in this part of Texas as there are many good surgeons in the area. Dr. Kim did my sleeve yesterday and everything went great...too bad your insurance doesn't cover him. I have heard mixed reviews about Dr. Holden. I also met with Dr. Nick mentioned above and he seems great. Also look up Dr. Clayton Frenzel. Seemed like a really good surgeon but couldn't get pass the less than knowledgeable office staff. Heard lots of people on this board recommend Dr. Adam Smith and a few others. Do a search on this board and you will find a few different threads on this topic. Good luck with your journey!

    Gall bladder after sleeve

I was just sleeved yesterday and also was supposed to have my hiatal hernia and gallbladder removed. They were unable to remove my gallbladder because my liver was still a little enlarged so the doctor said I would likely have it out in 3-6 months. I wanted it removed at the same time as everything else because it seems so common that WLS patients have to have it removed in the future anyways. I know a hand full of people who have had various type of WLS and all of them have had to have their gallbladder removed. It appears it is not uncommon at all. Good luck with your surgery!
  25. My surgeon tries to have everyone out same day. I have Dr. David Kim and he is amazing!
