I have been drinking Bai5 Antioxidant Infusions. 10 Cals per bottle, 2 Net Carbs per serving. It is made with coffeefruit, the fruit around a coffee bean. Has about the same amount of caffeine as a cup of green tea. I buy by the case at Costco.

The Sleeve works and going to Mexico was the best decision for me!

No one is noticing:-(
Shustar replied to ridingrae's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
What kind of supervisor makes a comment like that under any circumstances?! Rude beyond belief! Depending on where you start weight-wise will depend on how soon others notice. 50 pounds from a person over 250 is harder to discern than off a person around 200. Most people are more interested in what is going on in their own personal lives than what is going on in ours. Try to understand that they are just preoccupied with their own stuff! -
How gorgeous and happt you look! Such an inspiration to us. Your arms look fabulous!

This discoloration is temporary and harmless. The active ingredient in Pepto-Bismol contains bismuth. When a small amount of bismuth combines with trace amounts of sulfur in your saliva and gastrointestinal tract, a black-colored substance (bismuth sulfide) is formed. This discoloration is temporary and harmless. It can last several days after you stop taking Pepto-Bismol. Shoe Size Smaller?
Shustar replied to LittleMissCopular's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
More than likely you will! Every pound of body weight creates 3-5 pounds per square inch. If you are 100 pounds overweight, that means an additional 300-500 pounds per square inch. This helps gravity pulling the arch closer to the earth (relaxed/flattened arches) which make the foot longer. Most of us suffer from some edema (swelling) that gravity again helps accumulate in the feet and ankles (adds width). By the way, shoe width is determined by the circumference at the ball of the foot (like measuring your waist). It only takes 1/4 of an inch to put you into the next width. Of course it is easy to get the blood to our feet but the valves in your veins have to work really hard to get it back to the heart! Just remember, when you lose weight, you will have a blast buying new apparel but your shoes and sandals are you health and lifestyle Equipment! Make sure you are measured and professionally fit regularly! -

Welcome aboard! I was sleeved on June 8 and have been losing very slowly. We are here to support each other. Best wishes! -
You should be just fine. I had my surgery in TJ at age 62 and drove home by myself at 4 days and back to work on day 5. Good luck!

I have stalled at 2 weeks and at 4 weeks. I have had no problems getting protein or water in. This is a great article that explains the "why" way better than I can!Weight Loss Stall or Plateau.html Hope this works.

Stalled at two weeks out..
Shustar replied to xxjosettexx's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
There ought to be some god of Weight Loss that we can throw darts at or beat with our fists. I am in my fifth week and had a 8 day stall at 2 weeks, lost 4 pounds and have been at another 8 day stall at 4-5 weeks. Really would like to kick someone. This is where I am and I can't get my old stomach back (why would I want it anyway) so I'll keep pulling my big girl (literally( panties up and follow program. -
I know coffee is not on my list but since recent studies have proven it is not a dehydrating beverage and is allowed on many other Dr.'s lists, I used my own judgement and tried it. I am careful about monitoring for acid reflux and alway take my Prilosec. I have had zero problems with it. Sometimes I think you just have to use your own common sense.

Ewwww! Makes me think of my husband in a new way. LOL -
A couple of months ago I got really drunk after a competitive gorge at Outback Steakhouse. My girlfriend and I agreed we ought to consider losing weight. We googled weight loss online and came up with WLS in Columbia. Heard the doctors down there won't ask you to quit smoking. We just looked for the cheapest rate and made our appointments. Our doctor (?) suggested a two week liquid diet - the last 3 days - clear liquids only. We did 11 days without cheating, except for adding Butterfinger Candy Bars & Kahlua to our Premier shakes (yummy) & blending cheeseburgers into beef broth for a wonderful infused broth! We were required to only consume clear liquids the 3 days before our $1199 surgery. It wasn't easy but voda, white wine and tequila shots got us through. Surgery was a piece of cake. Didn't feel a thing thanks to our THC edibles. Just sucked on the hard candy option. Wonderful! We are now back on our liquid diet,,,see above and looking forward to having Doritos and Ruffles in a few more days. We were told you really want to test these new stomachs for leaks so we are working on it. We are avoiding fruits and vegetables since they contain ruffage which just sounds awful! The only real problem we have encountered and this one is major...is that we have hit an 18 hour stall. This seems like the end of the world and we don't know what to do. Just so glad this forum exists so we can laugh at people dumber than we are. Well, back to sip, sip, sip...please pass the Vodca. By the way, since it's been a week already, don't you think everyone should be noticing my weightloss? Woah! Just woke up! What a dream! I take my new life extremely seriously but I find alot to laugh about trying to judge the rest of the world.

A patient died after surgery with Dr. Elias Ortiz at A Lighter Me!
Shustar replied to SuninVirgo's topic in Mexico & Self-Pay Weight Loss Surgery
@@Edavidson I know your post had nothing to do with this thread. Because of the inflammatory nature of the subject of this topic, I am just suggesting that your post should have been placed somewhere else. Truly hope you will be feeling better both physically and emotionally in the very near future. -
I am 62 years young. I was back at work at 6 days. I own a shoe store and was on the fitting bench in 8 days. Lots of reaching, bending and twisting. Didn't hurt a thing. I did no lifting over 20 pounds. No problems getting in liquids or shakes. Everyone is different.

No Wonder I Wasn’t Skinny!
Shustar replied to Alex Brecher's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was the oldest of 5 kids. My mom was a very good cook and even though it was the fifties she really did make pretty balanced meals - as long as you consider jello one of the major food groups! I was chubby from age 3. At meals we were taught to always take the serving closest to you when a dish was passed. It was always arranged that the littlest piece would conveniently be right in front of me. I started "sneaking". Would snitch whatever I could get my fat little fingers on and hopefully not get caught. Unfortunately, I would often get caught. I would be ashamed and then punished. I started buying candy from the local "dime store" if you have ever heard of those. My whole food life was about hiding, getting caught and felling embarrased and ashamed. When I was 12, my dad made the comment (out of frustration) "what man will ever want you!" Of course it stuck! When I would hit patches of thinness from whatever new diet was current- I would go to great lengths to "prove Daddy wrong". In the end, it was safer to stay fat. Lots of work to shed this baggage! -
Former smokers. where ya at?
Shustar replied to kbingo's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit last September. I guess I was just finally ready after 40 some years - yes, Jesus picture was in my yearbook! My husband has been quasi-quit for over 10 years. He still chews Nicorette gum like a fiend (a whole different issue!) When we see someone on TV or in the movies smoking, he starts jones-ing for a smoke and all I feel is disgust. Ready is just ready and it happens in our heads, after we have broken the physical addiction (incredibly powerful). -
How your mind creates your weight loss
Shustar replied to Sally Baker's topic in Weight Loss Surgery Magazine
@@Sally Baker Thanks Sally! My sleeve was a pretty expensive tool and you are offering another powerful one for Free! Wow! -
Your sleeve is now your own personal "little dictator"! I am 4 weeks out and can drink from a sports botle as fast as I wish. At a couple of days out, I would get a sharp pain around my breastbone. Totally disappeared. In fact, drinking was so easy for me that I worried I didn't really get the sleeve and they just cut and glued a few spots! Once I started on pureed solids my sleeve woke up and started talking! Good luck!

Surgery cancelled 4 days prior...I'm upset
Shustar replied to Karen Crawford Wright's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tough deal, especially after breaking your ankle. When the time is right , I think you will love your sleeve. Just remember the sleeve is just a tool. It does help reduce hunger and appetite and does definately limit quantity of food ingested. All that being said, nothing needs to stop you from losing at your own speed until you can receive your sleeve. Frustrating! makes you want to say the "F" word over and over. Do not eat over this! Start working on that sleeve ready body right now! -
I have been enjoying "Shelly's Baked Ricotta", Buffalo Chicken salad made with very finely chopped/shredded chicken, lite mayo, Frank's Hot Sauce and Blue Cheese Sprinkles, and shredded beef in crock pot with sliced onions & green peppers with beef broth and soy sauce. I can only eat about 3 ounces max. I can drink with no limitations but put some real food in this new stomach and it is a whole new deal!
