Full liquids for 2 weeks - help!

Strained Wonton soup is going to be a lifesaver. Bland as it is, it is so much more flavorful than the protein shakes or watered down juices I'm consuming. I'm now 3 days postop and have a long way to go before getting solids so I'll be watching the replies to this thread with great interest!

How long till you can lay on your tummy?

I was discharged yesterday, sleeved 8/25, and I've been able to sleep and lay on either of my sides since yesterday. Not close to being able to lay on my stomach yet.

    Fitbit ?

I have the Fitbit One and love it just to keep track of how many steps I take daily. I've had it 8 months now and still clip it on every day.

    Doctor search engine question

Same with my surgeon. I'm curious if anyone knows what it means.

    It's about time!

I'm heading to the hospital in 10 hours. Not looking forward to the coming week but it will get better after that. Good luck sleeve twins! See you on the losers bench!

    Surgery tomorrow!

I'm having surgery the day after you. Good luck, I'll be sending good thoughts your way!

    Nervous Scared and Happy Scared

I'm getting sleeved one day before you and I'm so certain that this is what I want to do! I have had a couple of doubters around me but nothing I couldn't handle. Sounds like you're doing this for all the right reasons. This forum has been so helpful in giving us a snapshot of what our life is likely going to be like after surgery. I'm happy to trade in my fat suit for daily Vitamins, skin sagging, hair loss, and other curveballs. Hope there won't be any serious complications of course. Good luck and soldier on!

Smooth sailing... waiting for the other shoe to drop

You've been throwing up every other day since 2012? Yikes! I'm so happy to hear that's behind you now. Keep up the good work and like the rest of us, it's all about keeping our eye on the prize: Better health!
  9. Hi Sleevers! I'll be sleeved one week from tomorrow. Before I start with the point of this post, I want to thank everyone who has posted on this forum. Boy have I learned a lot from all of you! I have never felt so prepared and well informed about a procedure before. Ever. So a heartfelt thank you to you all. And now I'll get to the point. I made the decision in April to get sleeved and since then it has been smooth sailing. I checked my insurance and they covered the procedure. I interviewed surgeons and found a team I'm really happy with. I was not required to do a 6-month supervised diet. I was not told to lose weight before the procedure - just not to gain. All my test results have been fine. Insurance gave final approval without any delays or complications (in fact I wasn't even aware that the surgeon's office had submitted me for approval until they called to say insurance had approved me!) I must be the luckiest soon-to-be-sleeved patient ever. And like anyone who plays endless head games, I'm wondering where it will go wrong. It's been so easy so far. Will they open me up only to find some monstrous condition and be forced to abort the procedure? Will I be the unlucky one to get a gazillion complications? Will I be hit by a Mack truck on my way from the hospital? Will I go certifiably insane when I can't use food as comfort? If I'm this lucky does this mean someone out there is getting the difficulties that I didn't get? Normal ramblings for pre-surgical jitters. I hope! Thanks for letting me share!

    I got my date ! August 25.

Now let's hope all pre-testing goes well and insurance approves. Good luck to all August sleevers out there!

Who am I? Not Jean Valjean

You've put a lot of work into it and it shows! Yay! Did your Facebook friends react as positively as your BariatricPal friends after you posted your video?

Fat and Back, a two part special...

The Fat and Back woman is the same one who recently said there should be euthanasia trucks because there are too many old people. In a normal world she'd be told to shut up but instead she's getting her own show on TLC. Ugh.

    Sugar Addiction

I go into months-long binges after eating sugar. In fact I think I've had enough sugar to last me the rest of my life - literally! After VSG, just a few short weeks from now, I plan to follow a diabetic type diet and avoid sugar as though my life depended on it. Which it kinda does. Oh, and great thread! Thanks for starting it and thanks to all who have contributed.

Who Was Your Gastric Sleeve Surgeon

I'll be having the sleeve done by Dr. Matthew Fitzer who is at Reston Hospital in Reston, VA.

    Weight Loss

My insurance doesn't require a preop diet. The surgeon told me not to to gain ANY weight otherwise insurance might deny.

    Energy levls

I agree. From what I've seen from the forum comments, energy levels tend to bounce back after resuming solid foods.

    TODAY!

Good luck! We're all rooting for you.

    Finally a surgery date

I'm scheduled for the same day. Best of luck on this journey!

    Day 7 Pre-Op diet

Keeping busy seems to be key to distracting oneself from the misery. When you can muster the energy! Everyone says it will get easier. Sorry the weekend was so rough. Here's to hoping you have an incredible week! please keep us posted.
  20. I'm scheduled for surgery next month. My close friends and family know but I've shared with neighbors and colleagues that I'm spending the next year or so focusing on health, fitness and weight loss. I think someone might eventually ask if I've had surgery but for now my explanation of possible changes to come is all I'm really interested in sharing.

    EGD

My surgeon generally asks for one but in my case said I didn't need it.

    Novice in the kitchen

Yup I hear you! Meal prepping and just plain making time to cook has been a challenge all my life. But all things considered, I'm so ready to make this commitment. I'll just make sure I have backup food on standby for those times my meals are a dismal failure!

    Warning: Fresh/frozen cherries

Thanks for the warning! What a hard way to learn that lesson!

Who am I? Not Jean Valjean

Awesome! You really are an inspiration. Love the positive can-do attitude and boy are those results showing!
