Any of you folks from Southern MD??? I was banded on January 08 at GW in DC. My doctor is Dr. Brody -- he is wonderful. I'm down 60 pounds and lovin my band. I'm from a little tiny county called Calvert -- anyone heard of it?

Wow, sounds like the January 08 folks are doing great!!! I'm doing okay -- I was banded on January 7th and I'm down 60 pounds. It would probably be better if I was exercising more. I'm still excited about my loss thus far and I LOVE MY BAND!!! At my last fill my doctor said I was a poster child for Lapband. He also told me I need to get my ass working out more often. Well, I've been doing just that since my last fill. I've been working out on my eliptical and riding a bike. Good luck to you all!!!

I too have Aetna (Feds). I went to Dr. Brody at GW -- he is wonderful!!!:biggrin2:

David - I'm home from my surgery. Everything went as expected. I'm a little sore and tired, but feel very good considering I just had surgery yesterday. It wasn't bad at all. Are you staying the night at the hospital, or coming home the same day?
-
Hi Jim - I was also banded yesterday, but I just got home from the hosptial today. I feel pretty good, but I'm still sore. My husband is picking up my pain killers now. I should be good for a nice long rest once I get those on board. Glad to hear you did so good!!!!

Gillian - I'm on the Opti Fast too. My surgery is tomorrow. It will get better I promise. The first four days were hell for me, but now I'm fine. I mix the Protein Shakes with skim milk (instead of water) and add ice to make it like a milk shake. Honestly it isn't bad. Hang in there sister!!!

Don't be scared David!!! You are making a wonderful choice. I'll let you know how my surgery goes tomorrow. I'm a little scared, but more excited about the internal tool I will now have to control my hunger. I've been very successful losing weight several times (up to 100 lbs), but I've never been able to keep it off and it comes back with 30 more friends (lbs) each time. Take Care and I'll keep you posted after my surgery tomorrow. I'm having it at GW Hospital in Washington, DC and they are keeping me overnight.

Wow - I didn't have to do the bowel prep. Did you fast for the last two weeks? I've had nothing but Opti Fast Protein Shakes and bars. Good Luck Tomorrow!!!!!:whoo:

Me too! I'm scheduled for 9:30.

Is anyone else having surgery tomorrow? I'm scheduled for 9:30 at GW Hospital in Washington, DC. I'm excited and a little scared. Good luck to all the January Bandsters!!!!:bounce:

Thanks -- I'm still trying to get the hang of this site. Right now I'm trying to put my weight ticker on my signature.

I'm scheduled for 9:30 tomorrow morning at GW Hospital in Washington, DC. I'm very excited and a little scared. It doesn't sound like everyone stays the night in the hospital, but my doctor is keeping me one night.

Thanks!!! I appreciate it? Are you from MD? If so, me too. I'm having my surgery at GW Hospital in DC.

I'm scheduled for surgery tomorrow and I'm very excited and a little scared. How long does the surgery take? I've heard anywhere from 20 minutes to 3 hours. Thanks

I'm also using Dr. Fred Brody at GW. He came highly recommended!!! I haven't had my surgery yet, but I have a tentative date of January 7. Good luck to you!!!!!!

I have Aetna and I just got approved. It was a very, very long haul. I had to stay on top of them. They denied me my first try then my denial was just reversed last week. I now have a tentative date of January 7. I hope things work out for you!!!!

I just received my approval letter today from my insurance company. I'm so excited, it has been a long haul for me. I've been fighting with my insurance company since April 07. They denied me the first time, but I appealed and just got approved. I'm so excited -- I have a tentative date of January 7, for my surgery.
This is a wonderful site. I've learned so much from just reading everyone's threads!!! Thanks!!!

I was banded in Jan. 08. I've lost about 85 pounds and the samething just started happening to me. I had a upper GI last week to get it checked out and it looks like my band is too tight. This is kind of funny because my last fill was in July and I was fine up until about a month ago. They are planning to take out 1 cc tomorrow then give me very little fills (.5 cc or less) beginning in Feb. I still have another 85 pounds to lose. Even with this issue (which it has sucked because I don't sleep at night and I wake up every 5 minutes choking) I still love my band. I was totally scared last week when they did the upper GI -- I thought they might tell me my band had to come out, but it looks like it is just to tight. Make sure you follow up with your doctor and get them to do an upper GI if the problem doesn't stop.
