Protein Bars not feeling so good

    Great suggestions my friends ????

    Introduction

Hello All. I had RNY on 5/4/15 with a weight of 245 so I'm exactly 3 weeks post - OP. And including the 3 day liquid diet, I have lost 25lbs. Admittedly the first couple of days were rough. A bit painful and I was prefer grumpy for a bout a week with nothing but water and protein shakes. ( God bless my poor family) I was a GROUCH ???? When I was able to wear some soft food and exercise, my mood changed. I noticed though that old habits called to me .... Like watching TV and naturally wanting to snack and commercials with food of any kind made me long to put real food in my mouth. All of the things that got me here were still in my mind trying to convince my stomach that I was hungry. I tried to recognize that and learn from it so far. I feel very lucky that I can easily achieve over 64oz water each day and pills and listed food items are going down without any problem . I was nervous with puréed food like potatos and oatmeal because I felt with the loose foods I could eat more than the restrictive Tablespoon ... I thought " oh no , was the surgery unsuccessful - why don't I feel full yet" I think my surgeon is just that good that the pouch wasn't too swelled from surgery and to accept that things were going well and that loose foods were just sliding through . Almost happily, once I introduced the pouch to Tuna.... That full feeling came quick as well as with eggs and a 1/4 piece of toast. I'm going back to work tomorrow an am planning what to pack for the day / week. 3 weeks out and I am starting to feel like myself again .... Still a little sore and get fatigued easier but stronger every day! I have my checkup this week and feeling all has gone well so far. With one exception , there have been no issues ... Sorry for the TMI but haven't had a BM in a week ( started taking Milk of Magnesia as authorized by doc. Yesterday) but still nothing ???? Starting to get nervous over this as well I should as I understand it. Let's hope this passes and fixes itself with a little help soon . I'm happy to have found this site and all of your great posts have helped so much early in this journey ... Thanks e-

    No Complications

I had bypass surgery on May 4. Knock on wood but I have had 0 complications. I am 6 weeks Post Op today and feel just about back to normal but in most ways BETTER ! I sleep better, my body feels better - down 30lbs- I had out of control Blood Pressure which was my main reason for the surgery, aside from weight loss, I was able to stop my medication 3 weeks post op having had perfect BP I credit the lack of complications to a wonderful surgical team but everyone's body is different. Once I ate too fast and had some bad pain in my sternum for a few minutes but that's about it and I learned from it. Im excited that today all activities are lifted and I can start working out full body for better weight loss results - I hope. Good luck to you
  5. That's right... A healthy market with serve yourself foods that you pay for by weight. Put a table spoon of two high protein foods and a teaspoon of chick peas ( plenty for us right) In the past lunch was at least $7 at this high end market but I put it up on the scale to pay and the cashier said "1.68... Is that enough lunch for you dear?" I knew it was plenty and loved my new found weighing food advantage! We " losers" make out like bandits with this type of market! I encourage you all to find one of these near you if you have to eat out sometimes for lunch at work - fun, healthy and economical????

Lunch only $1.68 today .... winning!

Agreed, I traveled all day for work and spent $$ on lots of little things that added up. Bagels, coffee, late afternoon coffee drinks,.... We are amazed with the hundreds, yes hundreds of dollars we save each month so far now days. And the grocery bill has decreased - I buy a piece of fish now and it lasts 3/4 nights for dinner.

    Water

I started infusing my water with a little fruit and cucumbers and it really helps give a little subtle taste to the water. I asked my Surgeons office to make sure it was ok and they have me the ok -
  8. Week 5 post Op approaching and I'm just starting to feel " normal" I definitely notice a difference from week to week . Still feel like an afternoon nap would be nice everyday but that need diminishes each day. I feel like I can step up the exercise to a longer period of time and up the intensity now.

    Isn't it great?! ????????????

    How about some NSVs!?!?

I tried on a pair of pants that were bought for me 2 years ago. I couldn't even get the button close. They fit now and get looser each week. More importantly, after 3 weeks Post Op, my " dangerously out of control blood pressure" is now under control and got to discontinue BP meds. doc say it's perfect now. That was my primary concern and motivation to do the surgery - BP medicine never worked and now just one Month Post Op - no more BP medicine No more Xanex for anxiety and I may be jumping the gun but I would wager that the sleep apnea will be cured soon too.

We_Scotts .. Thanks and yes we are practically surgery twins. So how do you feel after almost 4 weeks post op? Any challenges or troubles ? Have things been going as you hoped? I am happy to be on week for foods ( with my surgeon ) this past week started fruits and soft veggies and white fish , tiny pasta and beans . It feels like more normal meal time. My 3 week follow up was great. A once constantly out of control blood pressure is now perfect - no more BP meds. Yay ! I am starting to get over my longing for the food that got me in this mess. Pizza was my downfall ... Hope you are doing well and hanging in there. E-

5 days out - Are Eggs ok?

2 weeks post -Op I feel the same way about jumping ahead, partially because I'm tired of the 3 mushy foods on my list but mostly because they are mostly carbs ( oatmeal, mashed potato cotta chz) I feel like loose scrambled egg would be ok to jump to a day or two early - allowed on Wednesday - just to limit carb intake and amp up protein Also, I'm worried about how easy the soft foods are going down and how I feel I can eat a little more than the suggested amount 2 tbsp. did anyone else have this experience regarding fullness - or lack there of??? keeping water intake steady - reaching over 64Oz most days

    Tiny pouch?

11 Days post op and water got really easy for me after day 4 - I can do 64oz almost every day and sometimes a little over - I asked info could infuse my water with some fruit, mint cucumbers, lemon and got the ok so the water is a bit more fun. I too worry that I can tolerate too much food already ( all puréed so far) maybe I'll get that more full feeling quicker when I get to more solids??

    What ya eating tonight?

Loose mashed potatos nearing the end of my puréed food phase but that all sounds good and love the ideas
