I have different insurance now, but they covered it as if it was my first time. 6 month diet history, yada-yada. My BMI was 45 so I was approved.
My doctor is particular, and she doesn't do revisions (or people who continue to smoke or who don't lose wait while getting ready for surgery). The only reason they performed my surgery (and I'm now at higher risk because I'm older) was that I had lost about 70% of my excess body weight on the band - in other words, it worked very well for me, AND I only had it taken out because it was medically necessary.
Counting my 2 week pre-op liquid diet, I'm down 35 lbs already. BMI 40.5
