    Help setting goal

Awesome question-I am at the same place! I have been very heavy my entire life-in 7th grade, I was 215. My personal goal for myself was 165, and I am 4 lbs from it, and feel like I could loose more. My doctor wants me to be between 135-145 (im 5'3), but am not sure. Maybe we can compromise and say 150. Isn't it funny when you look at your BMI, and it says that you are 'still overweight' yet you are the lowest weight you've been in years? I have to laugh a little about that.
  3. Hi Scully,

When I went for my orientation for lap band, I was 313. It has been well for me-I had the surgery on December 28, 2007, and as of today, I am 186 lbs, so -127 lbs. I really haven't exercised whatsoever. I started at a size 28 (very tight) and now in a 14. I know that I need to start exercising, especially to get rid of the excess skin, but I hate it so much! Ha!

The best advice I can give is not to get caught up in the scale. I was really confident before surgery-I am a Christian and was really happy with who I was. I had never in my life 'compared' myself to other women or anything, until now. Now, I will stand in the mirror and critique little things about my body that are crazy, that I would have never noticed before (example-how your nose is kinda pointed, or you have a mole on your chin, etc.) It is hard not to constantly think about it and dwell on it. I try to think about how I feel and not look.

Good luck to you! Please email me if you need any support! Tracey

    Then verses Now

I had my surgery 5 months ago, best decision of my life. My life has changed so much since surgery. Even though I can eat nearly anything, I dont want to anymore-I want to eat well, because it makes me feel well! I was wondering what your daily menu was like pre-lap band verses post-band. Here is my sample: Then: Breakfast: Starbucks Grande Frap. with Whip Mid Morning Meal: Candy Bar or a Baked item from Starbucks lunch at Work: Hot Pocket and a Frozen Mini pizza or Frozen dinner and a Hot Pocket Mid Afternoon Snack: chicken Finger from Long John Silver and a Taco Supreme from Taco Bell Dinner: Frozen Dinner Snack: Ice Cream, Candy....anything! Now: Breakfast: Fourth of a Cup Light Yogart Lunch: Fourth of a Cup Tortilla Soup Snack: Light String cheese Dinner: Fourth of a Cup Tortilla Soup Snack (if needed): Fourth of a Cup Light Yogart or Tablespoon Hummus HUGE difference-this is truly a life change!

    Hi

Congratulations!!! Im 27 and had my surgery 5 months ago. It was seriously the BEST decision I have ever made in my life. I am so happy and full of energy! I have lost 80 since surgery. Are you on any type of pre-surgery diet?

    Confession: Pre-Fill Binge

I agree! I was an AWFUL binge eater pre-surgery. I use to do these things called, 'rambles' where i would hit 2-3 fast food places in one sitting, (Wendy's for fries and a Root Beer, Taco Bell for Chalupa's and KFC for Mac and Cheese) and then go home and sit in front of the tv. I was really scared when I got the band that I would feel restricted because I couldn't binge. Im 5 months in and can honestly say that since my first fill I have only wanted to binge 1 time...im SO MUCH HAPPIER now! And, it doesnt hurt that the time I did binge I threw up so violently that it pretty much cured me. Ha! Thanks for your honestly in sharing-Tracey

    Exercise DVD'S

I bought 'George Foreman's' Cardio Walk Workout. 3o minutes-great workout.
  16. I was told to eat as much sugar free as I wanted. Funny how different dr.'s have different requirements.

    No more weight loss

Oh absolutely! I went 6 weeks from surgery to first fill. I lost about 16 in the first 4 weeks, then gained 2, then lost 1. The week following the first fill, I lost 6. Its totally normal. Good luck!

    need diet advice...

It sounds like you are doing everything right! I loosely following the 'Weight Watchers Point System.' Also, when I needed to boost it up after not loosing for a couple weeks, I had to cut carbs and sugar out, and pump up the workout. I got on track SO QUICK after that. Good luck to you! Tracey
