I will be honest with you. I started at 313 lbs, and am now at 152. I love my body, and the 'new' me, but if I had to do it over again, and could do it by myself ANYWAY POSSIBLE, I wouldn't do the surgery. It is a total complete life change. There are so many things you don't know before you go in. There are a lot of things you can't eat, days you don't feel well, etc. that you don't expect. It changes EVERYTHING. I lost -161 lbs in 22 months. I still have -15 more that I would like to loose. I would try as well as you can to do it on your own. Just my opinion. Tracey

Awesome question-I am at the same place! I have been very heavy my entire life-in 7th grade, I was 215. My personal goal for myself was 165, and I am 4 lbs from it, and feel like I could loose more. My doctor wants me to be between 135-145 (im 5'3), but am not sure. Maybe we can compromise and say 150. Isn't it funny when you look at your BMI, and it says that you are 'still overweight' yet you are the lowest weight you've been in years? I have to laugh a little about that.

I flew overseas, 26 hour flight, 10 weeks after the band. No issues whatsoever. I am 10 months in and forget I have it most of the time.

Call your doctor absolutely. My goal is 800 per day, all the way up to 1000. I dont think i've ever gone over 1200.

I had my surgery 5 months ago, best decision of my life. My life has changed so much since surgery. Even though I can eat nearly anything, I dont want to anymore-I want to eat well, because it makes me feel well!
I was wondering what your daily menu was like pre-lap band verses post-band. Here is my sample:
Then:
Breakfast: Starbucks Grande Frap. with Whip
Mid Morning Meal: candy Bar or a Baked item from Starbucks
lunch at Work: Hot Pocket and a Frozen Mini pizza or Frozen dinner and a Hot Pocket
Mid Afternoon Snack: chicken Finger from Long John Silver and a Taco Supreme from Taco Bell
Dinner: Frozen dinner
Snack: Ice Cream, Candy....anything!
Now:
Breakfast: Fourth of a Cup Light Yogart
Lunch: Fourth of a Cup Tortilla Soup
Snack: Light String cheese
Dinner: Fourth of a Cup Tortilla Soup
snack (if needed): Fourth of a Cup Light Yogart or Tablespoon Hummus
HUGE difference-this is truly a life change!

Congratulations!!!
Im 27 and had my surgery 5 months ago. It was seriously the BEST decision I have ever made in my life. I am so happy and full of energy! I have lost 80 since surgery. Are you on any type of pre-surgery diet?
-
I agree!
I was an AWFUL binge eater pre-surgery. I use to do these things called, 'rambles' where i would hit 2-3 fast food places in one sitting, (Wendy's for fries and a Root Beer, Taco Bell for Chalupa's and KFC for Mac and Cheese) and then go home and sit in front of the tv. I was really scared when I got the band that I would feel restricted because I couldn't binge.
Im 5 months in and can honestly say that since my first fill I have only wanted to binge 1 time...im SO MUCH HAPPIER now! And, it doesnt hurt that the time I did binge I threw up so violently that it pretty much cured me. Ha! Thanks for your honestly in sharing-Tracey

I bought 'George Foreman's' Cardio Walk Workout. 3o minutes-great workout.
-
I was told to eat as much sugar free as I wanted.
Funny how different dr.'s have different requirements.

Oh absolutely! I went 6 weeks from surgery to first fill. I lost about 16 in the first 4 weeks, then gained 2, then lost 1. The week following the first fill, I lost 6. Its totally normal. Good luck!
-
It sounds like you are doing everything right!
I loosely following the 'Weight Watchers Point System.' Also, when I needed to boost it up after not loosing for a couple weeks, I had to cut carbs and sugar out, and pump up the workout. I got on track SO QUICK after that.
Good luck to you! Tracey

I usually eat:
1/2 of a granola bar
1/2 a yogart
Hummus and 4 tortilla chips
1/3 of a ear of corn
bing cherries
String cheese
Slice of Turkey rolled with mustard

I think thats is a case by case basis. I had surgery 5 months ago today, and I have already lost 30%, with no chance of slowing down at all! I am sill consistantly losing 2 lbs per week at least. Dont be scared by statistics!

I did that during the 2 week liquid only stage before surgery. It was during Christmas, which was HELL. Its the only way I got through it. Im not ashamed at all!

I havent had a fill in 17 months. I have lost about 65 lbs since then, and keep loosing. I lost my first 120 in 14 months, then 65 in the past 17 months. I have only lost 3 1/2-4 lbs since Christmas. I dont know if you keep loosing. I have been told your body will naturally stop when its at your 'ideal' weight.
