  1. The pre op diet really hasn't been bad, but on Day 11 really want substance. Feeling very tired and lethargic. Surgery Tuesday and down 40lbs since 1st of year
  2. Day 9 pre op diet. 1 week from surgery! Went in today for my hospital pre op testing: ultrasound of neck and leg arteries, EKG, and bloodwork. On way now to my pre op seminar at my surgeon office to see how to take care of myself after surgery. The hospital mentioned about a liver biopsy during surgery, this hasn't been mention throughout process. Anyone know why this is needed?

    Pre op diet week 2

I heard taking some magnesium may help
  4. Since starting the pre op diet noticing some changes, not sure if some are related to shakes. Not bad adjustment actually like shakes less decisions on what to eat, lol. By day 3 my stomach was use to the routine. But also day 3 noticed my muscles were very sore all over like I did a full day workout and they are still hurting day 8. Felt like someone beat me ughh. Also my memory is crazy bad now. I am having bad memory lapses of what just happened yesterday. Really having to concentrate to remember things. Other than that week 1 on shakes I lost 12 lbs. Total of 38 lbs since I went to first appt Jan 26th. Surgery a week from tomorrow June 23! I see a few June 23rders out there, congrats on your big day! HW 296 Start W 287 CW 258

  8. I have Insurance that is covering my surgery on June 23 and my husband would like to have gastric sleeve done also. He has state employee insurance which doesn't cover lots of things including this surgery. Has anyone moved their spouse to their employers insurance in order to get them approved too, of course I will do during our open enrollment coming up? If so did you have any problems and how long did you keep them on your insurance. He has to move back on his at some point to be eligible for his employer retirement health insurance
  9. I am being sleeved on June 18th as well. Day 5 of my pre-opt diet. Have done pretty well so far. Had a mental warfare day on Wednesday but stuck to the plan. I walked into work today and the lady in line in front of me (we have to go through security) was holding 2 giant boxes of dounts for National Donut Day. I didn't even entertain the thought of cheating. YAY ME!! There might be some will power left in me after all I am ready for my sleeve and my new life as well. Good luck to you. June 23rd for me too! On day 2 of pre op diet

  13. I have looked into Gastric Surgery in past but insurance didnt cover. Last year this time I was having daily headaches that were very painful and vision loss. Went to opthamologist and both optic nerves were severely swollen. He sent me to neurologist for CT scan and MRI to rule out tumor. Ended up with pseudo tumor diagnosis due to amount of spinal fluid built up. To release some fluids and get the spinal fluid pressure tested I was sent for spinal tap. FYI most horrible thing I have ever been through! My pressure was extreme. After our niece had this surgery I decided to look into surgery again and found my current insurance covered! I have my gastric sleeve scheduled for June 23rd, has anyone else had PTC, and if so has surgery reduce the spinal pressure and optic nerve swelling?

Thanks for the posts! Isn't it the truth about having an eye doctor to tell you to lose weight, ughhh

  16. Not fond of my surgical office either. Can't really say about my surgeon as I have only physically seen him twice since I started this in January. If I never asked questions I would have been longer in process because 1st doc failed to mention EGD procedure that was required, then the finance lady so worried about telling me what I will owe forgot to explain psych eval, didn't give me list of approved psych professionals, I just happened to ask one day about it. 3rd after EGD results weren't reviewed with me and it wasn't mention at anytime about also having surgery to remove hernia also. I got my sleeve approval letter along with denial letter for a hernia surgery. Called doc office and asked what is that about, they were like oh yeah nurse should have called you and went over, nope. The front desk and check out staff rarely speak, and don't give me warm fuzzies. But since I already started process I wasn't going to start over. Live in a bigger city and this office feels like they just cattle you through process. I understand your frustration
  17. Seminar January 26th, completed 3 months requirement, insurance approval, surgery set for June 23rd! Have lost 30 lbs since january on weight mgmt. Ready for surgery but nervous too. Never had any type of surgery before
