  1. Never did i ever think i would ever let myself go again after all my success. Life and loss of control tool back over. I was down to 145 lbs this time last year and now just hit 200 lbs again. I am ashamed and so mad at myself. I k ow what I need to do but cannot stay on track. Is there anyone out there who has had this happen that has success in getting it back off after success with weight loss surgery?

    Need motivation, thoughts or tips.....

    Jan 2015 298 lbs

    SW June 2015 227 lbs

    LOWEST weight June 2016 145

  2. Glad to know I am not only one...

I had surgery June 2015 and up until after my one year sleeve anniversary was very strict and good on my meals. Proteins and veggies. Then people kept telling me I was too strict on my diet and was hearing how others were back incorporating carbs into their diets. I knew I was getting carbs from what I was eating by was staying away from Pasta, rice, breads, etc

So I decided oh I can have some. Well it's my trigger food! Because since July when I was at my all time lowest 144 I have now gained 30 lbs back. I am about to bust out of my size 10 dress pants, but I refuse to go any higher again. So after this weekend of Christmas I am thinking about doing the pouch reset, not to shrink stomach but to reset my brain. I am a VSG patient and will always be and need to go back to acting like it.

I was running and got bored with that and now with winter back to not working out. So need to get my mind wrapped back around this now.

Any other suggestions to help get back on rack that have worked for ya'll?

  3. good luck hopefull for a speedy recovery e-mail me when you get back good luck

awesome! Your tummy is so flat, I am debating doing tuck once I get these last 20 lbs off. Went from 296 to now 151. Trying to concentrate on weights in gym to tightened as much so I can truly see what if anything I need to do to my tummy. Boobs no hope will have to do something there. Only thing keeping them up is bra, lol

  4. I've had low BP for years and the Migraines and all of the nasty effects that go along with it. It is nothing to "self medicate" with. Driving can be an issue as well as falls, nausea, black outs, etc.

Make appointments with you PCPs. They should be the ones to advise you.

    Pick up the phone, please.

    I care!

my Dr's nutritionist suggested I increase my electrolytes also and it has worked wonders

  5. I had the same issue. At about 7-8 months out, my BP was about 90/60. I went to my PCP about it and she did a bunch of tests. She concluded that I needed to "liberally increase my intake of salt". I have worked on that some. Still don't add salt to things, but I don't worry about eating things that are high in sodium anymore. It has improved slightly, but mostly I think I have just adapted to it. I have to pause for a second when I stand up before I take a step. Of course I say that, but just yesterday I fell right over when I went from lying on the couch to walking without the pause I should have taken..... Fell right back onto the couch.

electrolyte powder I use includes some sodium, and that helps too. Plus boost my energy and the little 3g of sugar it has is stevia

  6. When I was overweight my BP was normal range 120/80. Not diabetic. First 4 months after surgery went to around 105/70. Then after 4 months dropped to 90/60.

Have been working out, eating right and bloodwork each month is good. Started getting headaches, nausea and faintness. Went down as far as 75/48.

I read up on solutions for hypotension. Found I may being losing electrolytes. So started using an Electrolyte Stamina Citrus powder mix from VitaminShoppe. Mix in am with 4oz Water and again after night workout. My BP is now staying around 110/70.

  8. I got an email from my best friend when I reached around 185. I decided to go for a post op counseling visit because stuff like that was conflicting me. When I brought up the concerned text. She said these two things: 1- most people are reflecting their issues into your weight loss success and 2 that people's relationships with each other are based of homeostasis and when one person in that relationship (friend, coworker sibling, love) shakes things up the other can't handle the change.

  9. My NUT suggested this must read for bariatric surgery patients. A practical guide to life after bariatruc surgery. Got in mail today, so gonna start reading. Almost 7 months post op and need to do things to stay on track, so many changes. Plus husband is having his sleeve next week.

  10. Yep. I never stopped. I saw my therapist quite a lot pre-op (like every week for months) and then post-op also every week for a few months and have now switched to every 2 weeks. She suggests that before too long, we will switch to once per month and ideally continue to at least 2 years post-op. It will help keep me in check and get ahead of any slippery slopes. I have found that therapy has been the best tool I have (maybe even better than the pouch!)

That's fantastic! I shared how important I felt post op counseling is just as much as the pre op visit last night in my surgeon's bariatric support group last night!

  11. I have never been a holiday person. Always disliked xmas usually spend my time involved in charity stuff during this time. One thing that has always been a tradition in my family has been xmas eve, but this year it's cancelled due to family drama. So I have been in a major funk this week and sinking into depression. I feel like everywhere I turn is food galore and think I am missing food also. Haven't had any food cravings til now but I don't act on them, so feel like it's pent up frustratiin. Coming up on my 6 month post op follow up appoint. I have been working out each night for months and this week can't get myself to gym.

Has anyone had post op depression that can give some feedback especially during holidays? Thinking of scheduling a post op appt with my pre op psych.

  12. Thanks everyone for feedback! I have been open with everyone in my life about my surgery and knew it would change things but it has been such drastic weight loss. I want myself, and my husband and I as team to be successful long term. Maybe two much tmi but I want us to connect again like we did before we gained the weight, and became ashamed by our weight which affected our relationship.
