  1. Me and my partner in crime, Kindle. Yes, that's right, my user name is in honor of my horse. Thanks to VSG, she has 100 pounds less on her back every weekend.

If you look close at the picture you can see I'm splattered in mud. We had just come through an "incident" involving 4 horses, a dilapidated wooden bridge and a deep bog. It was also the first day with my new saddle I had to get because my skinny new butt was way too small for the old one.

One of my horses is named Mambo- hence hb.mambo!

  2. Ok, so today is the big day, surgery with Dr. Brebbia this morning at 1130! Scared, nervous, and excited - wish me luck!

On a side note - nervous because I have had terrible post nasal drip from the pollen and I have started coughing. But I am worried they'll turn me away. I did call them to check and I don't have a fever, but still worried.

I was in the same boat day of surgery- the my did mine regardless and even said it was better for me that I was coughing! Hope it went well!

  3. I had the surgery done with a starting BMI of 31- am 5'8" and weighed 212. And I'm only 2.5 weeks out and have lost 18lbs. I don't love this yet, but I already notice differences in how I feel. I've never been an inactive person- I ride horses and spend lots of time in the gym. I can't wait to go to a horse show now and not have little aches and pains from the extra weight; or go to the gym and finally "look" like I'm there as often as I am. I know this will change many things about me and my good friend food, but that's what I want- I need less of it!!

This is hard- and I've had many a moment over the last couple of weeks that I have wondered what I was thinking, but those moments are getting fewer, and eventually I'll be thrilled. That's what I'm focused on! For me, it's worth it, and knowing that I've given myself the chance to not go up and down constantly with my weight is such a relief!

  4. I was sleeved on 5/5/2015- the first 2 weeks I struggled a lot with some emotional ties to mealtime- which made me think I was hungry. This week has been easier - I have been focusing on chewing gum when I think I need to chew, and getting more Water, and I feel more settled about not having a big meal. There is such a social aspect to meals in our family, and I started with the feeling that the social time was over, but now I see that isn't changing. I can have my broth just the same as I ate the meal before. I think it will all get much easier when actual food can be eaten. This is so hard, but will be so worth it - and after a couple weeks, I feel better about the decision. I'm down 18lbs now.

  5. I just had dumping last night and it was awful. Felt like my intestines were twisted or something! I am nearly 4 wks post op. I had 3 bites of a Breakfast sausage and scrambled eggs, but I'm sure the sausage did it. No more sausage for me!! Now I'm dehydrated and considering the hospital as we speak????

Did you go to the hospital? Hope you are feeling better. It took me two days before I quit feeling so bad. The day after I did not get all my protein- just focused on Water.< /p>

  6. I'm in the same boat. I've had many moments of thinking that I wasn't so fat, why did I do this to myself? I remember I once thought it odd that there would be support groups for this. What was I thinking? Now I get it. This is tough. Anyone who says it's the easy way out needs a rude awakening. I got mine on 5/5/2015 and all I can think about is how FAR away the soft foods are. 10 more long days.

  7. Hey all!! My surgery was 5/5/5, so I am exactly 1 week post op!! Feeling pretty darn good!! It is challenging getting my fluids in. Today I start full liquids and just had my first sip of my Protein Shake. How is everyone else doing???

I had mine May 5th as well. Going great- tired of liquids lol, using Isopure to get the Protein in, and struggling with energy some, but I'm sure after years of constant motion my body is happy for a break!
