  1. I'm about two years post op and have recently regained about 5 pounds back. I am wondering how many calories people are eating, and how much exercise they are getting, to maintain weight loss.
  2. Hi! I don't know if it has slowed but I have read that is common and have regained 5 pound or so. Just curious of others experience. I keep track mostly of my calories just wondering of other experiences.
  3. I am a 48 year old male, 6 feet tall, and now 198 lbs. I was overweight from 3rd grade on. My high weight was 455 pounds when I was 21. I dropped down to about 280 by my early 30s just from diet and exercise. I could never get much lower than that. I always rebounded up. At 307 I decided to get the sleeve. Now, a little over a year later I am finally below 200. First time since 5th grade! I am just trying to stay below 200 and focus on weight training, and exercise in general. Best decision ever. I only wish I could have done it about 15 years earlier. It was never covered by insurance until a couple years ago.

    it starts with 1

There myself as of today...first time since sixth grade.
  5. About half way to my goal weight and I am seeing some sagging skin, thinking about surgery eventually and I was just wondering what experiences anyone has had. Costs? Recovery time? Overall satisfaction with outcome? Scars? Thanks,
  6. I am 11 days post op. People have talked about hair loss at some point, but maybe it is mostly women posting that? I was curious if men have had the same problem and if it is noticeable or problematic. I always wear my hair short anyway. Experience/advice?

    Hair loss noticeable/problematic?

7 months out, so far have not had any problems with hair loss.

    Alcohol... ????

Try brandy...you don't need to mix it with anything and it has no carbs. Or vodka, gin, tequila, etc mixed with Crystal Light.

    Weight lost over time

16 weeks out today (including a 12 day pre op diet) starting weight 307 today 237.5 an average of 4.34 lb per week
  11. I am 13 weeks post op and the last few weeks have been an emotional roller coaster...highs and lows...crying very easily at times. I did reconnect with an ex that I never really got over, and it is getting complicated, so that might explain some of it. It is nice to know I am not the only one that has experienced this and hopefully it will get better.
  12. Yes, this is common. While some days were better than others, the first 5 weeks for me were painful and I had very little energy. I could hardly get down Water and the minimum Protein many days. Into my 6th week and beyond I felt much better, was able to eat and drink, and generally felt normal. I am in 11th week now and I feel AWESOME with lots of energy! Hang in there!!! It will get better.
  13. i have Isopure unflavored, but it doesn't taste that great. Depends on what you mix it with. I don't even need to use Protein powder anymore (I am 11 weeks out) because I get enough protein from food.

    Eating meals with other people

I am 11 weeks out, and it has not been an issue for me. I've had meals with people who don't know of my surgery and no one has said a thing. They do know I've lost weight, so I guess they just assume I am not eating a lot because I am on a diet. But my take is they are not really paying attention to my plate.

    Weight lost over time

July 10-Started pre op diet at 307. July 23-Sleeved, weight was 291. Oct 5-Weight is 248.5.
  16. I bought this stuff thinking I'd just mix it with crystal light to get in more Protein but it's got a funny taste/smell. How can you use this stuff without having that weird taste?
  17. Yeah, soups and smoothies I can see would be good uses. On the package it says "add to any food" but other than liquid food, what ways can it be used? I understand unflavored does not mean flavorless, but it shouldn't have an odd, unpleasant flavor either. I bought the liquid Protein drinks, also by Isopure, and they don't have that aftertaste, but they are pricey, comes out to about $2.50 each on amazon (for a pack of 24). Thanks for your comments.

    July 27th sleevers!?!?

Sleeved on July 23, lost 37 lbs since surgery, plus 16 on the pre op diet, so 53 total. I'm cleared to eat everything. Having lots of yogurt, chicken, tuna, Protein bars, some veggies (canned mostly), string cheese, non fat lattes, just started drinking coffee with cream, Peanut Butter, Isopure Protein drinks too, getting about 70 grams protein a day. No bread, Pasta or rice. Sporadic exercise, walking mostly.
  19. I've been reading that most ppl regain some weight some weight after a couple years. I have also read that the maintenance..lifetime diet is to consist of 1000-1500 calories a day typically. So my question is, if a person is eating 1500 calories a day, how could they possibly regain any weight? Supposedly a 175 lb man needs at least 2000 calories a day just to maintain their weight. Can anyone comment on this topic?

    Keeping WLS a secret.

I am 5 weeks post op and so far only my therapist knows, plus one friend who lives in another country. I only told him because his boyfriend had it done and I was curious about how it went for him. I am reluctant to tell people because it seems like many people don't really understand the procedure. Like, you have the surgery and BOOM, you just lose weight! I will tell family members when I see them...Christmas time. Other than that I probably won't tell anyone unless they ask directly.
  21. Sleeved on 7-23, and I have lost 29 lbs since then. I also lost 15 on the pre op diet so 44 lbs total.
  22. Last week or so I have been having aches and pains and I cannot seem to eat or drink as much as before. I have only been able to eat about half as much in the past week as I was before, during the first two weeks. I spoke to the doctor and they said since I don't have fever and have not been vomiting it is not too much cause for concern, but I don't know. Really having buyer's remorse. I have just been feeling awful for the most part. I feel like I should be feeling better everyday. Has anyone has a lapse in their recovery and started to feel worse?
