I go for a Seminar and my first appointment with the surgeon on May22. I have been researching both the Sleeve and Gastric Bypass. I already have eliminated the Lap Band. I want to be knowlegable about both procedures in case i am given a choice.
i have been spending a lot of time on the General Surgical Forums. Time to branch out on the Forums that are specific to one type of surgery.

What you might have read is that sometimes we have "advertisers" who just post a link with no explanation and no clear relationship to topics BP members might be interested in. As a host, i tend to get rid of those without clicking the mysterious link.... and encourage others to report them for moderation etc.

It's like alcoholism. You will ALWAYS be an alcoholic but you are a recovering one. They say now (took them long enough) that obesity is a DISEASE. We will never be cured of that disease but we CAN keep it under control.

I noticed most of the FREE samples listed on other topics are from years ago and the freebies they offered then are no longer avalible. I am scouring the Internet looking for free samples I have a couple that are really 100% free and many that you pay for but you can get individual servings and not be stuck with tons of stuff you don't like.
I will post totally free, if I find any, as well as those that are available for a nominal cost if there is any interest in my doing this. Reply if you would like me to do this.

I have started posting a inspirational quote/picture every day.

Actually, salads are one of my favorite foods. I can eat meat in moderation but I really prefer a salad with some chicken and cheese, tomatoes and onions, broccoli UUUGGG...look what you made me do.
Kidding aside, keeping calories down in a salad can be a challenge. Gotta eat the really healthy things and most of all, be careful with the salad dressing! A lot of them are full of calories, fat and sodium.
I wonder if I have the gastric bypass if I will eventually be able to eat a salad?

Sorry to hear of your problems. It does show us however that our weight IS a lifelong battle and that WLS is a tool, not a quick fix.
At first I was considering the band but I know myself and that isn't what I need. And I have seen there ARE complications from that too. So I am leaning towards bypass despite the added risks. At 385 pounds, I expect the weight related problems that are catching up to me will eventually get me and get me good. At 67 I suspect I have but one shot at this!
I know another WLS is hard for you to consider but you will make the decision well informed. That is one problem with having worked in health care, we have seen it all!

Although surgery is several months in the future, I decided that starting today I would CHEW CHEW CHEW my food. That is going to take some retraining since I have been inhaling my food for 67 years. Started out ok but without even realizing it, I inhaled most of it. (and actually didn't even taste most of it).

Ugg...Nutrisystem. The food is HORRIBLE! Jenny Craig is better tasting but way too expensive. It is WONDERFUL that you have lost 20 pounds. WAY TO GO!!
