  3. I am 3.5 weeks post op and my birthday was July 3rd. My family and friends all joined me at the drive-in movie theater that night. People brought their own food, and I happily watched Terminator and San Andreas with my turkey and cheese roll ups. Everyone had a great time.

    3 week stall.....

I am in "the stall" right now, as well. I'm not worried about it in the least because my body has always been rebellious to the process. Why would I expect anything less now? LOL! Just continue doing what you are supposed to do. Follow your doctor's plan. There is no way I am not losing weight only eating 1/2 cup at a time...roughly 600-650 calories a day (on a good day) and walking. It's the same for you. Look for other ways to monitor your progress (like inches lost or clothes fitting better) and be patient. It doesn't have a choice but to come off eventually. I am at 3.5 weeks post op. Be encouraged.

    My Texas Sleevers

Hi, Erato! I'm doing really well. I'm getting my protein and liquids in and walking as much as I can handle. The gas!!! Yikes! Is it still as bad 4 weeks out? How are you doing?
  6. I am literally one week away from surgery, and I am all over the place mentally and physically. I would love to pair up with someone 1+ years post-op. I can use all of the motivation and support I can get!
  7. I can 1000% relate to your concern about losing weight. I struggle with that right now. However, what I know for sure is that I am not going to give up until I reach my goal. Attitude is everything. The surgery allows us a "reset." I'm learning to eat all over again as if I was a baby. I consider that a gift, not a prison sentence. Even on my worst day, I have to remember that. We can do it.

    My Texas Sleevers

I am four days post-op in San Antonio with no complications so far. I'm so excited to be on the other side of this now. God's blessings on those headed in! I'm cheering for you!
  9. got2bslim4me.. How is the mental preparation going for you?? What are you specifically worried about? grace, I decided to trust the process, trust my research, trust my surgeon, and most importantly trust God. The day before surgery I was focused on cleaning out, packing up, and spending the evening with my family. The morning of surgery, I went in confident and by the time they finished my IV, I was meeting the anesthesiologist and getting on the table. It still feels like a dream, but they made sure that I left with all questions answered.
  10. rgodfrey09, Surgery went great. I was the first one on the table on Wednesday morning and in a room by noon. I was discharged the very next day after finishing close to 50% of two trays. I'm really blessed. The gas has been manageable, but I have been in some pain. My doc wouldn't give me anything other than Tylenol 3, and it is honestly useless. Each day I am feeling stronger and stronger. I had guests for the first time, and they said that they couldn't even tell I had had surgery. How did it go for you? Are you home yet?
  11. JCrumm, Thank you! I need to lose 212 lbs to make it to my goal weight, so I know you will be a great resource for me. I have done lots of research, but there are still things that are remain gray areas for me. So, I will definitely have some questions. I have sent you a friend request so we can remain in touch.

    Any San Antonio Texas sleevers?

Jody48, My surgeon is Dr. Patel. I go in for surgery on June 10.
  13. That's awesome! What a coincidence. I would rather be at North Central Baptist, but my surgeon uses Southwest General. Although you cannot be a mentor just yet, I would love to keep in touch as we share this journey at the same time. Please add me as a friend and God bless! Six days!

    My Texas Sleevers

    My Texas Sleevers

You can do it! I actually have been doing my pre-op diet to lose the 27lbs I needed to lose and didn't even realize! LOL Are you on 2 shakes a day/1 meal, all liquids or something else?

    Pre-Op Stress

Thank you so much for your advice. I am happy to report that not only was I 25 lbs down, I was actually 31 lbs down by weigh-in. I need to throw my home scale in the trash!!! LOL! I am SO relieved!

    Pre-Op Stress

I am less than 48 hours until my pre-op class, and I have to be down 25 lbs by then. Well, according to my scale, I met and exceeded that goal by 1.5 lbs late last week. Yesterday and today, my scale has given me all sorts of different readings, so now I'm wondering if I really made goal last week. I don't want my surgery to be postponed because of my unreliable scale or this constant fluctuation. I tried a laxative, and I will be doing a body wrap and all liquid diet tomorrow. Is there anything else I can do to make sure they measure my true weight?

    My Texas Sleevers

mcjenkins1, That's encouraging to know. I attend my pre-op class tomorrow morning, so I'm not sure what they are going to have me do. I have to be down 27 lbs by tomorrow morning, so I am doing nothing but liquids today praying that the scale will be my friend tomorrow. LOL With our dates so close, I would love to keep in touch. I'm excited, nervous, and everything in between.

    One month to Forever Changed

Thank you, Shrinking Peach! I send you nothing but well wishes as you prepare for surgery. I definitely have had to be my own advocate in this process.
  22. I am exactly one month away from my life-saving, life-changing surgery date, and I am just all over the place excited. My pre-op class is in two weeks, so I know that I will get a manual on how to prepare. However, for those that have been through the whole process and surgery, what advice would you give me?
  23. got2bslim4me

    Hello everyone...my story!

Tenisha, I think an almost 40 lb loss in less than two months is pretty phenomenal. I am scheduled for surgery on June 10. I have to be 380 lbs by my pre-op class, so I see we have a similar start. I'm trying not to "guess" where I should be at a certain time because I don't want to set myself up for disappointment. Any loss is a great loss. If it is more than the number 0, it's progress. I am hopeful that I have a similar drop like you, but we are all different. Many blessings on your journey, and please keep posting.

    S.O.S.

Living55, Wow. Thank you for the words of encouragement. I think getting it out helped tremendously. I tend to keep things bottled inside, and that is what has me in this position right now. God has brought me too far to turn around now. I can do this! Amen! You are on the right track already. I know exactly what you mean about having things bottled up, its why I joined here. I am thankful my words were of some assistance to you. If possible keep me posted on your progress, I know they will be amazing! This group has been a godsend. It gives you the reassurance that you are never in this alone and that we are all different. I am a person of great faith, yet I know that I have to do my part and attack these demons head on. I won't heal if I don't address them. I'll find myself in the same place next year and even more miserable. I refuse. Living55, I definitely plan to share my journey. I feel that it is my obligation to pay it forward. Those, like yourself, who are courageous enough to share their experience with strangers has helped me more than they'll ever know. I think I want to begin a video log, too.

    S.O.S.

I am almost 1 month to my surgery date, less than two weeks away from my pre-op class, 7 lbs away from the weight I have to be for pre-op, and I am in distress! There is so much pulling on me that I am completely overwhelmed! As a self-confessed emotional eater, the first thought is to comfort myself with food. However, that can no longer be an option. I am hard on myself a lot. I know I need to relax, but I'm heading towards a life-changing moment here and life doesn't care. I have to pay almost half out-of-pocket for this surgery because of a pitiful insurance. I don't want to put my family in financial strain because of my choice. I feel bad. I feel guilty. I feel scared. I'm sure this is a normal moment during this process, but this is hard for me. I feel like no one around me understands how much this all is affecting me. To make matters worse, I got a random email about how there is a debate amongst low-carbers about WLS, saying it's the easy way out. People don't have to diet or anything. Just ignorant. No one is going to make the choice to go under the knife if this wasn't the last resort. The nerve! Ugh! I know I'm all over the place, but I just needed to vent. I sure could use some encouragement right now. I have to make it to June 10. I just have to!
