How Do You Get Yourself Out the Door to Exercise?
You have to find something that you love to do. For me, that's Zumba. I have a gang of friends that I adore and it's like girls night out, 3 times a week. I have a blast.

Pre op diet HUNGRY
I am so grateful my doc didn't make me do a pre-op diet. The day before the surgery was my only day and I had to do clear liquids. I never would have made it two weeks on a liquid diet!

Annoyed but i have to laugh about this ... Has this ever happen before ?
Oh, I think this is silly. People should do whatever they feel up to. Including going out to dinner and visiting with friends.

Annoyed but i have to laugh about this ... Has this ever happen before ?
I am a month out and went out to dinner with my family last weekend for an end of summer celebration . They ordered surf and turf (lobsters and steaks), and I ordered an omelet. The waitress definitely looked at me funny! Especially when I said "no toast"

Things I didn't expect my first month post-op
I am one month out and the only thing I wasn't expecting was just so hard it was going to be to drink and eat enough. It's become a full time job! Every day does seem to get a little better though. Surgery was a breeze for me. I was sleeved on Monday 8/17. Sent home on Wednesday the 19th. I was nauseated for 2 days but the Zofran really helped. I had no pain, really. Never took a pain med. Went back to work the next Monday (so only took 1 week off). I am down 28 pounds. Been the same number for 4 days now. I have been expecting the 3-4 week stall. I feel really good though! I am on the pureed stage but really haven't pureed anything. Just mashed a bit, and chewed thoroughly. Tonight I had chicken and refried Beans. About 1/2 cup total and was full! This morning I had 1 scrambled egg and 1 Oz of smoked salmon. Delish.

does anyone else have long stages?
I was on Clear Liquids for 5 days, Then added Protein shakes for 2 weeks. My clinic calls that Stage 1. I am now on Stage 2 for three weeks which is pureed food. Then I can start Stage 3 (which I think introduces a few more things/solids). I am not really sure what is after that.

3.5 weeks out. Struggling
Hi everyone, I am 3 and 1/2 weeks out and am still struggling to get in more than 50g of Protein and 24 ounces of fluids. I just get so full after a couple of bites and am afraid to force more. In the morning I have been drinking my Protein shake. That keeps me pretty full. And I feel like the rest of the day I am trying desperately to get more in a little at a time. It's very challenging. How long until I am able to tolerate more? Is 50g at almost a month out ok? When did you get to 70+? Thanks!

What is your cocktail?
I am only taking one multi Vitamin a day ( a Flinstones chewable w/Iron) Should I be taking 2??

409 to 148!
Holy sh!t!! Bravo!

Refried beans?
I haven't tried refried Beans yet. I will over the weekend though! For the past 2 nights, I have had frozen jennie -o turkey meatball with a little bit of sauce and ricotta cheese. Yummy! I haven't pureed anything. Just sort of mashed it up, took small bites, and chewed thoroughly.

Proteins
I am 3 weeks out and am still having a hard time getting in 60. I am managing about 50 though.

Drinking water..
Not rude just realistic. That's one of the major points that is explained during this surgery process, it's hard to believe that you don't know this. Not helpful at all. You better be sure to never ask a question here, someone might scold YOU for not knowing.

I have a gift for many of you...
I think the OP is rude.

How to get enough protein 3wk out without protein powder
What do you mean by dump? Did you have bypass or sleeve? Also, I don't think the Greek yogurt contains lactose. Can you eat a cheese stick? eggs?

What the heck? !?!
I was sleeved on Aug 17 th. I just got my period again for the second time since then! Plus I had a 3rd period the week before. That makes 3 periods since Aug 4th. Ugh! (I am 52 yo and really don't need them anymore lol) Anyone else now get frequent periods?

3days post op
I will be 3 weeks out on Monday and still find it challenging to get all of my fluids and protein in. It's almost a full time job!

Anyone have trouble getting enough calories?
I am 3 weeks out and still eating under 300 calories. I am looking forward to getting more in, but mostly am focusing on protein and fluids. It's still a challenge for me to get in 60 of each

Realistically:
My surgeon says " no alcohol ever" But, sorry- that's not going to happen. How soon after sleeve surgery did you have a glass of wine? Is there anything else you drink?

Holiday Hell
I am in the middle of planning a Thanksgiving dinner with my family (had surgery on Aug 17th and I will be 3 months out). So far it hasn't bothered me at all that people can eat until they are bursting and I can't. I will have bites of the things that I love (turkey, mashed potatoes and sweet potates) and I will be full and satisfied. I have no plans to stop being social! I will just eat less.

Staple foods for the soft food stage (phase 3)
I am 16 days out and ate 1/2 scrambled egg and 1/4 avocado tonight without trouble. It took me about an hour and I got full for the first time. But nothing came back up. So happy because I LOVE eggs!

How long did you wait to return to work?
I took a week off and had no issues. Had surgery on Monday the 17th and was back to work the following Monday.
-
Newly Sleeved
I am 11 days post op and still on fluids/protein shakes. I will start on mushy foods next week (and for 2 weeks) before solid foods. One week out seems crazy!

Comments from others that mess with your head
This is why I am reluctant to tell most people about the surgery. It's like it gives them a license to judge.

1 Week After - Back to Work!
I felt almost completely normal 5 days post op. Never took a pain pill and went back to work 1 week after surgery. I can't believe how easy this recovery has been.
