Can anyone provide insight or feedback in regards to Vitamin B1 deficiency? Prior to the sleeve i did not suffer from B1 deficiency and ever since sleeved when i get my blood work done quarterly by the surgeon the results show B1 levels are not in normal range. Now I have to supplement it by taking one tablet daily. Is this something of great danger/concern?

I am 7 months post op and i feel as i can definitely handle more food in the new sleeve stomach than before. I assume is because it has completely healed and also feel more hunger now than before. Also as far as liquids i can now drink more and bring down more liquids than before. Wanted to ask the opinion and advise of fellow sleevers to see if this is normal or something to be concerned about..

I did a revision from band to sleeve back in 5/19/15..i was 226 pounds. Band had slipped out of place and had to come out. Insurance approved it no questions asked. At first i was hesitant because of the fear of getting denial. Weight started dropping slowly since my target goal weight was not much to drop considering my height of 6"1 bmi should be at around 25. Currently going almost 7 months post op and weighing 179 pounds. I truly thought the weight loss would be much slower but i guess is all about how body anatomy truly is different from men/women.. Weight will drop for sure just need to keep on and be patient. There are days were it may feel like is not gonna work but it truly does.. Hang in there and this forum is hear to help you in times of need..

Ok but i am questioning the size of the pill.

I am almost 4 months post-op and wanted to ask if it is ok to take pills without crushing them.. I need to take a pill but the size of it is 3/4 inch. Do not know if that is too big or if it is ok to take.

Premier premier premier.. All flavors of Premier Protein are amazing. Very inexpensive to buy and it provides a load of 30mg per shake or per scoop if buying powder. Also i recommend Quest Protein. I have the unflavored one to use on my foods and it is good.

Is it normal to have back pain after gastric bypass surgery? Got bypass done this past tuesday but been having lower back pain nonstop. I know the gases can give you some pain but do not know if it has to do with my back hurting. Anyone can provide help please?

I am eating the tuna first. I eat the " bagel" last just to try it out to see how bread goes down.. I always start with Protein first. I do know that as time passes the sleeve starts to increase in volume after much of the healing is done. Surgeon said to me that the first year is sorta " trial period" and that it takes a year for your new stomach to fully take shape and hence volume increasing in how much food can go down

Im taking an antacid daily also..do not know when those the hunger (ghrelin hormone) starts diminishing. I guess i will ask my surgeon on my upcoming follow up visit in 4 weeks. The good thing about my surgeon is that he can put a scope down the esophagus on my visit and check quickly. Lets hope that it has not stretched..

I am about 3 months post op revision from band to sleeve, male 6"1 and have dropped from 226 to 189.. All has been going fine and well but feel like i have reached a stall in weight reduction. Feel like im getting more hungrier and im craving sweets alot which i thought it would be a thing i would not have to deal with after getting sleeve. Been only eating one solid meal a day but i have Protein Shakes for Breakfast and lunch because food seems to get sorta stuck and i get a nausea feeling when i eat certain solids. Dont know if this is just a phase im going thru or is it something of a huge concern for me. Would like to hear opinions, comments or suggestions from you all.

Almost 3 months post op and i am having sugar cravings. I desire to eat sweets which is something i thought it would sorta be fading away after the sleeve. Has anyone gone thru this or can chime in and share their experience?

Wanted to ask anyone if they had changed surgeons after getting approved for gastric sleeve by the insurance. Has anyone had problems with it? Also has there been a timeline of how long the wait is prior to getting the ok from the insurance.
The situation is that my wife got approved by BCBS of NJ for her sleeve but now wants to get it done by another surgeon and she is afraid that the insurance will make things complicated and she loses out on getting her sleeve done.

I am very careful with the portions. And i been sticking to the same foods since day one. Dont know if this is just a passing thing and all will get better shortly.

Wanted to know if anyone feels or has felt nausea while being on pureed foods. This is my second week on this stage and for the past 3 days i been feeling very nauseous. Been taking some zofran for it but it doesnt seem to be helping.

I was nauseous after the surgery and the next day as well. By the third day i was fine..it should go away shortly

I got sleeved on 5/19/15 and returned to work exactly one week after on 5/26/15. I will say that it all depends on each person's body method of healing. I was driving already by the time i left the hospital which was 3 days after surgery. Take your time in coming back to work.

I am one month post op and i have always suffered from lower back pain due to some herniation on the spine. Now that i have the sleeve can anyone chime in on taking anti flamatory meds for the pain. I am having discomfort again and was prescribed naproxen 500 mg to take as needed for pain but i am worried that it may cause some issues in the stomach. Tylenol truly does not do anything for me. Please help.

Try adding a scoop or half a scoop of unflavored Protein. It will increase the protein content. Also depending on your area, your local supermarket may sell low carb high protein milk. If you have a Kroger in your area i recommend their milk from the carbmaster line. 60 calories per 8oz, 3g of total carbs and 11g of protein..

I would recommend the gastric bypass for you. I say this because of my eyewitness accounts of siblings who have gotten WLS in their 60's and the gastric bypass has worked very good for them. Hair loss is something that can be handled with proper nutrition, supplement intake. Look at taking some Biotin for the hair. It makes the hair stronger and less prone to fall off..

Had sleeve done on 5/19/15 and my bmi at the time of the surgery was 29.8. Insurance gave no issues or problems for approval. I have dropped 16 pounds as of today but i know is gonna be a long slow process. Already feel a sense of " plateau" but i will keep on. goodluck with your journey and always ask questions because it is soo helpful to get answers even to the smallest of questions..
